I booked a budget room for a week for less than £200 per week.Arriving after midnight I was in one of the ground floor rooms. The room itself was typical old style maltese standard fare. The room itself was clean, but was very dark due to not much natural light. The courtyard balcony looked onto a derelict building, and the high surrounding walls blocked out the days sunlight. I complained about the room, and the manager was very polite, and understanding.I was then moved to a room with side seaview, directly behind the reception area.Again it was basic, but spotlessly clean. This hotel is very old and dated, but the friendly and professional manner of all employees is what would prompt me to return, if on a budget vacation.
We stayed at this hotel in September, and after reading the reviews were really dubious. However we were pleasantly surprised! Our room overlooked the sea which was stunning. Yes it was a bit of a trek from anywhere, but with the frequent buses it wasn’t such a problem. 2euros (or 3, can’t remember which!) to get you anywhere on the island via bus was not to be sniffed at, we ended up getting a bus from the hotel back to the airport, which instead of costing 30euros cost 4! The breakfast wasn’t too bad, and the evening meals were fine. Some people expect the Ritz when they only pay basic prices!
We have stayed there twice basic hotel room but fantastic view from the balcony. Food was excellent also the salt water swimming pool looking forward to returning. Great location by bus stop so easy to discover this stunning island
We spent a week here in September, arrived late due to an easyjet delay. For some reason we weren't expected, but I had confirmation on paper, guy on reception very helpful and gave us a room with what I guessed, in the dark, was a sea view. What can I say, the view was stunning, yes the room's and hotel are basic and dated, but for the price we paid we would never complain. If you want 5 star treatment, and facilities, pay the money. If you want a genuine break at very reasonable price, the Ambassador could be for you.
The Ambassador !!! This not a luxury hotel and a no thrills very basic Hotel. Dated and a little tired. A step back in time. I have returned home with several bites on my ankles and feet. I can’t say for definite what I had been bitten by, but I didn’t see any midges around. But we were very near the sea? The swimming pool and food provided are by a separate company called Seasalt. Breakfast consisted of a full English, cereals and the choice of continental. This could of been hotter but quite nice. Location : if you don’t mind a walk to the bus stop then the main town is not too far away. This hotel is situated out of town. Having said that the views from this hotel are perfect, and can appreciate some beautiful sunsets and sunrise’ The hotel manager is a very accommodating man, pleasant and very willing to help where he can. …
