My advise to anybody: do not go here or book here anymore. The managers since 3 years PÓh and Andy were made to leave, after building up the place with all their love, customer service and money. The owner got greedy, doubled the rent so they were forced to LEAVE place is still there, rooms are still spectacular but don't expect ANY service. Owners think they can manage it themselves now. They can't. Shame for 3 years hard work and many happy customers down the drain. Tripadvisor actually just rated them nr 1 best rated hotel in whole of Thailand! Check their facebook hopefully they will find a new place. They are the best I've known them quite a few years from the resort they had before, they are lovely people. Such a shame.

Hello my name is Roy from the Netherlands. Me and my Girlfriend was looking for a quiet romantic place not far from the beach and finally we found it.
We try first to found a place on the beach but we was to late and the resorts what we was looking for was already fully booked.
Then we found the offer from the Native Resort we payed a special price each night because about the promotion.
The reason for the promotion a young lovely couple are the new owners Michel & Tass. The staff was also always friendly and polite. The room what we got was big with ercondition nice clean bathroom and a comfortabel king size bed. Me and my girlfriend love the pool and on this time we was only with two other couples in the resort.
The new Restaurant was open after two days we came. We try before and after some food around the area but we like the kitchen from the Resort. My personal favourite was the creamy panang curry.

We had 6 nights at the Samui Native Resort and Spa. Like most of the reviews there are pros and cons however considering the cost of the rooms then expectations need to be realistic. Our stay was very nice and relaxed. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was perfectly acceptable. Our room was large, air conditioning worked, the grounds with the hammocks are relaxing and it was quiet.
We rented a bike from the hotel and unfortunately had an accident on it. Andy, the owner was more concerned with our welfare (just scratches and bruised pride) than the bike. We had broken both mirrors and scratched the bike and we were expecting a hefty bill. To our delight (and frankly amazement considering some of the moped hire horror stories we have heard) Andy just charged us cost price (under £10) to replace the broken parts.
The location isn't the best - a 10-15 minute walk into town - but the town itself is nice and offers a quiet beach, great views and a choice of eateries.
We ate at the hotel in the evening several times and it was nice and cheap.
This is a nice budget place to stay and we would recommend it.

I can not review any of the services, rooms, food etc at this hotel as I was unable to stay there. My wife and I arrived at the hotel to be told that our confirmed and paid for reservation would not be honored and an alternative hostel had been arranged. To say I was furious would be an understatement, particularly as it was the day before New Years and every other hotel on the island was fully booked which left us at the mercy of these people. I'm not sure what made me angrier, the situation or the the smirk on Ms K.Amp's face (the apparent new owner) as she explained the situation without a hint of remorse. Her excuse was that she had tried to contact us but Agoda had refused to give her my email address. I would caution everyone before reserving a room at this hotel. Having now visited Samui Island I would recommend a hotel on or nearer the beach than this hotel which is at least 15 to 20 minutes on foot. Mae Nam beach is beautiful but I personally preferred Chaweng beach as there was more going on. Proceed to the Samui Native Resort and so called Spa with caution.

It was a really poor choice on our behalf to stay here.

There were plenty of other hotels around the island at a similar price but for two nights we thought we couldn’t possibly have too badly of a short stay.

Upon check-in we were greeted by two friends of the owner who were staying here for a couple of months acting as staff. They were friendly enough and showed us to our room. The room was spacious and required the fan on full blast to get a bit of air circulated. The aircon was out of our budget range. Bathroom was large and hot shower pleasant. Room appears good at first impression but as there are windows everywhere you feel like you are being looked on.

We noticed the hotel grounds were a bit untidy and previously looked like they may have been well kept. It was warm out so we thought we’d go for a dip in the pool but before that saw a sign pinned up saying that the restaurant was shut and the place was to be shut down, on closer inspection we noticed all sorts of building materials just dotted around the place like stuff had been taken out and sold.
We fitted time for a quick game of pool on a very pricey looking pool table, but after half an hour, about 10-12 Thai blokes turned up and took the table away. We asked the owner (who appeared to be extremely intoxicated) for a drink but told us he’s just sold the beer to the guys who took the table. He said ‘sorry about that’.
There is a little shop at the end of the hotel drive which is really cheap for drinks (and beers) and would sooner give our money to the Thai locals.

The pool area was clean but the grounds were occupied by dogs who barked at your every move.

We obviously couldn’t eat at the ‘resort’ or have any ‘spa’ treatments so we ventured out on a 20 minute walk through the jungle to the end of the road where other civilisation is. The area itself is really lacking. We spotted one restaurant that looked worthy of spending money in but it was fully booked. W e booked for the following evening on that indication without hesitation and went to another place that evening which was actually a pleasant surprise.

We thought of going back later on in the evening to watch some sports they had on show but the walk from the hotel late at night is extremely risky!!!! it’s dark and would not recommend it alone. We took a torch.

The second morning we got up to maybe get a coffee at the ‘resort’ as they said they would still sell hot and cold drinks but there were two cleaners at the bar with their feet up. We thought better of it to ask as one of the cleaners was scraping dog muck off of her shoes and then went to wash it off on the bar sink. The general mood around the place was that it was ready to shut down and there were occasionally some discussions on what was happening regards to the hotel lease.

It offers free wifi around the bar area, to attract you to the bar! First time we logged on we were asked if the signal was ok by the owner, we replied yes and when he then went through to the back, the internet seemed to slow right down. He may not have done anything but it was strange. The acting staff members then took a trip to the shop to purchase beer for some locals who were using the facilities that evening. The hotel had 6 other guests and all were equally puzzled during their stay.

Wifi and TV stopped working on our second night (maybe they had forgot to pay the bill)

Booked a taxi through the hotel to take us to the airport, we were quoted 300 BHT. On check out she said sorry it's 350BHT. The taxi driver (a friend of the owners) wanted 400BHT.

Avoid this place at all costs.

I’m not entirely sure this place will be open next week so this review may be pointless.

The facilities are glitchy in the room. The wiring is dodgy and the air con turned on and off ALL NIGHT both nights we stayed here making it very hard to sleep.

There is no spa element to this resort and like previous reviews they seem to rely on the reputation of their predecessors without updating their information to be accurate.

The bathroom was crawling with ants as there was a huge gap in an external door allowing a multitude of creepy crawlies in during the night.

The staff were awkward, we could not pay with either of our credit cards and they insisted it was a problem with our cards even though we have had zero issues anywhere else. When we arrived there was a European man sitting behind the bar who glared at us constantly and made us feel very uncomfortable. The entire time he was there he just drank beers and chain smoked and scowled.

We ordered dinner at the 'restaurant' if you'd call it that, the night we arrived, as the township is a fair walk away. The food was terrible, it took a long time to come out but at least it was cheap. I paid for dinner immediately after eating using cash but was asked to pay again for the dinner again the next day. Based on this we decided to not have our free breakfast each morning.

The location is quite bad however it does offer a quiet surrounding. There are some dodgy locals in the area though. One in particular followed us twice and starred quite obviously at my wife and made her feel very uncomfortable. On one occasion he sat across the road from a restaurant we were eating at and watched us the whole time. Obviously not the 'resorts' fault but it gives you an idea of the surrounding.

Wifi connection was poor and not offered pro actively we had to ask for it. When our room was 'cleaned' we were simply given two fresh towels that we didn't need as we still had two unused ones - we were given 4 upon check in.

The shower linked in with the dodgy lighting, ac and wiring and thus went hot cold hot cold constantly.

I'm so angry and disappointed but don't have the energy to complain, I just want to leave ... The taxi gets here in ten minutes and it can't arrive quick enough. Good bye I won't come back!!!!!

I have been going to samui native now for the past two years when I travel round Thailand.
And love the place .The relaxed friendly welcome you received from Andy and O it was like a home from home. I book in for one month. when I arrived I realized Andy and O know longer run the resort and the new management are using the same good reviews from Andy and O to make believe they are still running it .I stay for two days then found somewhere else to stay. The room was dirty, there was atmosphere the place looks really run down and the food was terrible .I was refunded from expedia because of the false advertising . But have checked the web sites and it is still been advertised that it is been run buy Andy and O which is wrong.

With a warm welcome upon arrival we sat down to find out that there was a barbecue ongoing, just what we needed after hours and hours of travelling.
Then we were shown to our room and kindly helped with our luggage.
We knew from the pictures that the rooms are lovely but when we opened the door we were pleasantly surprised. Very specious, with a massive bed, modern and fresh decor, big TV, little kettle, cups, sugar and coffee, fridge with cold, refreshing water and powerful A/C. The lighting at night was just perfect, making the room so cosy and warm. While during the day five large windows were bringing a huge amount of day light. If you worry about your privacy, there is nothing to worry about. Every room has lovely turquoise curtains that cover all windows but still bring loads of day light. Great service has been done every other day and if you are friendly and nice enough to the staff they might do something extra special for you like they did for us. Every time they were cleaning our room, they were creating amazing swans, elephants, etc. with fresh towels.

We arrived on the night of the so called "Walking Street" which is on a Thursday in Mae Nam (on the resort the kitchen is closed on Thursdays after 7pm so everyone can attend this happening), cheap food and drinks, live band, shopping). After we made ourselves comfortable we decided to have a look what it was all about. Unfortunately we took longer than expected and "Walking Street" was pretty much finished, but we were still able to find some people in the bars around and had a wonderful evening.

When we woke up in the morning we went to the bar area to get some breakfast, Andy (owner/bartender) asked us what we would like and Oh his wife (owner/chef) made us tasty breakfast. We probably asked Andy hundreds of questions what to do around and what not as it was our first time to the island and he was quite eager to get into the conservation.

In Chawaeng there is a popular place called the Reggae Pub where we have been several nights and ran into Meow and Kai (two sisters that work at the resort) and ended up tagging along with them, learning a bit of Thai and having great fun.

Just to add a few words about the perfect location of this resort which will match everyone's interests and moods.
Samui Native is placed in the middle of the jungle/forest which is ideal for those who would like to rest from busy, big cities and stay close to nature.
All night you can listen calming sounds of crickets, frogs, birds and if you are lucky from time to time you can hear the presence of wild monkeys from the hills far inside the island.
If you are thinking beach, sand and ocean, it is literally 10 minutes of interesting walk through the neighbourhood with typical Thai households, passing also a beautiful Chinese style temple, worth to see.
If you decided to go wild, you can rent a scooter/moped which the resort is provides for a very low price and drive to a pumping night life Chawaeng. Mainly Green Mango Street with colourful clubs is great fun. Just a 20 minute drive.

We had the most relaxing holiday of all time apart from all the drinking and waking up early to see other bits of the island :). The room, swimming pool and surroundings are all very clean. The staff has been more than staff to us and turned into very special friends.
In fact we enjoyed everything so much that we are planning to take a sabbatical and live there for a year to see how that pans out.

Many thanks!!

Mark & Justyna

Just a short walk from a beautiful beach, passing a lovely temple, hidden in a jungle, is this resort.
We couldn't believe our luck when we seen the room for 450baht double fan room. It was clean and spacious with a lovely bathroom! After a horrendous sleep the night before, we welcomed the peace and quiet offered here. Staff are very friendly.
Would strongly recommend this place if travelling on a budget, you've struck gold.
