Almost at the gates to Newstead Abbey, this four star (silver award) B&B is also only a short drive from Sherwood Forest and the Major Oak; Southwell; Rufford Abbey and Thoreby Hall, but is still only a thirty minute drive from Nottingham City centre. Ideally situated for weddings at the Abbey, this spacious B&B has been fully refurbished with antiques, top-quality beds and soft pillows, and offers all the small luxuries necessary for a really comfortable stay. In addition, a sitting room solely for the use of guests with an array of books is available should guests simply wish to sit by the fire and relax. Reasonable rates on two rooms, one twin, one double, include full English breakfast and daily room service. Internet connection and phone available. Horse riding with a reputable livery stable in Sherwood Forest, and Llama treks can also be arranged.

A lovely family home. Immaculate double room with en suite shower room. Breakfast was great, lots of choice, host is very friendly & helpful. Great location for my Mum's house in the village also very close to Newstead Abbey & Sherwood Forest, & a few miles from Nottingham city.

I have stayed here before and as stated by others in their reviews, I too was slightly concerned to hear that the place was under new management. I needn't have worried. Minh greeted me at the door on arrival, took my case up to my room and even provided tea and choccie bites in my room whilst I unpacked. I was taking part in a 17th Century re-enactment weekend at Newstead Abbey and this B&B is ideally located in that respect. Breakfast was substantial and Minh asked me each morning what I would like within my cooked choice. The only thing I think could be improved slightly is for a choice of fresh fruit salad and cereals prior to enjoying the cooked part of breakfast as some people look for that addition in a B&B. For myself I can only state that the cooked food was ample for my needs with plenty of toast and coffee/tea (as is one's choice) and I am sure both these would have been replenished, should I have asked. Minh and his family are lovely people and Minh's baby son is absolutely gorgeous! It was a pleasure to meet them and I once again enjoyed my stay at the Oakhouse B&B. I shall certainly stay there again should I be attending any event at Newstead Abbey.

We had visited Oak House a few times before and it was lovely so we were a bit worried to discover it was under new ownership. Well we need not have worried as it was just perfect. We received a wonderful welcome with the offer of tea and cake. The breakfast was wonderful. Rooms were lovely. We will be visiting again soon.

We were welcomed with the offer of tea and lemon drizzle cake which we sadly couldn't do as we were due to attend a funeral (the reason for our trip up from the South Coast. The rooms were clean and well presented. Breakfast was wonderful. We are looking forward to returning, under happier circumstances, and being able to spend more time with the very welcoming hosts.
