We had a wonderful stay at Salt.
It was probably the nicest hotel stay I remember (of all trips I made).
It´s the perfect combination of great service and quality with still having the feel of a
small personal hotel instead of a big hotel chain.
It´s part of the Lux group and their concept for travellers that are not into or cannot afford the 5star Lux hotels.
It does this in an extra ordinary way.
We went there for 4 days to give us a little treat on our Mauritius trip and stretched our budget to be able to go there.
Every day we were reminded that it was a good decision to go there with so many little moments of joy. One woman of the staff (Vimla) was so nice during the whole stay and even brought us home made bakery that she explained days before. So many things come with the room price includes (sports program on the beach, yoga, stand up paddle,...).
Also it has a no waste policy so everybody gets a reusable bottle as a gift to fill with water at the filter machine instead of using multiple plastic bottles like everywhere else. They use local ingrediences. They don´t have big buffets but a la carte breakfast (if you book the package you can order as many times as you want from the menu).
The design, the food, the friendly staff.
We didn´t experience this anywhere else.

Only downsides or little critiques:
- Apart from the hotel experience there is not so much to do in that area.
It´s some bigger hotels in a row next to it but no close village center/supermarkets. If you have a car you can go explore. Otherwise you´re a bit stuck.
For us, 4-6 days of just hanging around there are heaven on earth but we wouldn´t wanna stay there the whole vacation.
- As we stretched our budget to go there, the prices of the hotel restaurant where very high for us. A big beer is around 8€. Every dinner we had was at least around 50€ for 2 people although we tried to save money. There is a simple and good restaurant outside the hotel (the only external one of all hotels around) where it was much cheaper and that was filled with hotel guests from all the hotels every evening).

Other than that it´s the perfect place to go.
If you wann give yourself a few days of extravagance and don´t wanna use it as a base for big sightseeing tours it´s the best place you can go.
Have a good time there.

Dear Lucasunger1234, What a kind review! It is so appreciated by the whole team. Your recommendation and support means a lot to us as you are our best ambassadors :-) Indeed, as you rightly said its a feel of a small personal hotel and we do our best to put it forward as we believe it is a strength. It allows us to focus all our time on our guests and ensuring they have the best experience possible in our wonderful island of Mauritius! All of us being true Mauritian, we love sharing our knowledge and favorite spots, but also guiding you to all the little hidden places you might not notice… Mauritius is all about the details! I am also grateful to you for sharing your constrictive feedback as this gives me and my team an opportunity to study in detail the pointers given by you and work on corrective actions immediately. I can assure you that we shall study the same based on your feedback especially the pricing element as is had been benchmark with other hotel of same category. We sincerely want to thank you for your kind words about our home and team. We hope to have the pleasure of hosting all of you again but until then, we hope the year 2020 bring only joy and happiness to you and your family :-) Our warmest regards, All the team & Raj Reedoy

What a super hotel, we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this hotel, from the super friendly staff, the amazing beah and the beautiful decor. We stayed for 9 nights during the C-19 issues and I can say that the hotel seemed prepared and as taking all precautions it could which is good to see.

We stayed in room 107 which is a BoB room, the room was great with a massive shower and comfy bed (if not a little soft for me, but the wife loved it). Although the view to the beach was great, we felt that the two beams across the balcony severely restricted the view if you sat on the balcony and also the wind when we were there was particularly bad, and as this room faces east, the wind would howl through the patio doors all night, luckily we had ear plugs (we never travel without them) but maybe this is something that could be offered if the weather is particularly bad.

The food in this hotel is some of, if not the best we have had in a hotel. It can clearly be seen that time and effort has been made to construct the menus and everything is fresh. We only stayed on a room only rate as we like to get out and explore, however, the breakfast has a great range of items (if not a little on the expensive side for breakfast) and the lunch and dinner were also a decent selection, a particular favorite was the Chicken Curry. If you do not intend to eat as much as you can we found the RO rate as better value.

The selection of dinks is also great with the bar staff very attentive and eager to whip up whatever you want. A particular shout-out goes to Valen and Nirvan, however all staff were great.

For those who like the water the hotel provides a complimentary snorkel trip, kayaks, sailing and pedalos.

Overall an amazing experience at this hotel and for sure would recommend this to anyone staying in Mauritius.

We returned last week from our amazing 3 night stay at the Salt of Palmar. The hotel is stunning a real wow moment when you first enter and set directly on the beach which is very clean. The hotel also offers complimentary snorkelling trips and glass bottom boat rides which we really enjoyed. All water activities can be found at the boat house just on the beach and staff are super helpful.
The food was amazing the best we have had anywhere. They use all locally sourced fresh produce. The breakfast was a real treat and not to be missed. A big thanks to all the chefs for their amazing dishes and effort. Also a special thanks to chef Rehad Khader for the delicious barbeque fish he cooked for us.
What really sets the hotel apart from others is the staff, from the warm welcome on arrival and throughout our stay we felt thoroughly looked after and well taken care off – they are the best. Specials thanks to Vimla, Vish, Melanie, Renu, Priyanka, Vikesh, Yash and all other staff who really made are stay so memorable. The spa experience at the hotel was really relaxing and enjoyable highly recommended. Thank you to Saffenaz, Yashveena and Chritiane for providing a tailor made experience.
Salt lived up to its standard of being an eco-hotel. You have unlimited drinking water for the room which they supply in glass bottles. The in room toiletries are amazing all natural with no prabens or SLS and smell lovely.
We only wished we could have stayed longer!

This was our first visit to Salt of Palmar, and I have to say we left the hotel having been impressed in more ways than one.
The staff’s welcome was warm and friendly on arrival (as they were throughout our stay), but what hits you the most on arrival is that you’re given a peek into the ideal future of the hospitality industry - 100% paper free, digital room keys using smartphones, digital food menus and activity bookings, natural and recycled consumables and sustainable furniture. SoP not only raises awareness about climate consciousness, but effectively leads the way in minimising its carbon footprint to help our planet.
In doing so, it also puts technology to proper use. Gone are the registration forms, food menus, and activity booking brochures and room keys - everything is digitalised and all you need is your mobile phone.
There is an array of activities that guests can book, but the emphasis on fitness and health is clear - SoP seems to have your best interests at heart. This is reflected in the food choices too, with healthy options abundant on the menu.
A walk on the beach is highly recommended due to the sheer beauty of the view, which is even more glorious in the morning sun.
A special mention also needs to go out to the staff at SoP, who attended to all our needs in a friendly manner while also ensuring all sanitary COVID precautions were followed. Well done SoP, and see you soon!

It's the first hotel I have come across who was not only eco friendly but the service, food, decor, staff along with the spa facility were exceptional! The warm welcome specially starting our stay with a meditation with Ms Melanie really was refreshing. Our sea facing room was superb. We were so close to the beach that the sound of the waves made our stay all throughout a very relaxing and peaceful one indeed. The service we got from each and every staff was excellent. I apologise but I could not remember all the name of the staff. A big thank you to all staff. The overall experience was so good that it made us extend our stay one more night. The food was brilliant. So much variety for vegetarians and vegans along with customised meals on behalf of Mr Sanjay. I have never seen such healthy food not only tasting so good but visually very appealing. The Salt room spa (again unique and impressive) is a must after the very energised massage by the lovely and caring spa members. The decor will make you feel like in Greece! Above all these good things the best thing the hotel is doing is that it is promoting our Mauritian culture and is eco friendly. No waste of food, no paper waste (E-menu, making maximum use of technology to take care of the environment). I definitely recommend everyone to come and experience this paradise - 'Salt' in all its splendor. Thank you for such a beautiful stay.

After so many good reviews from friends, I decided to try it for one night. The moment I stepped in, it was " wow" ! . I love the setting and the colorful decor. And top of that, ALL (parking, reception, bar, restaurant, cleaning, spa ..) the staff was welcoming and helpful. I felt at home !!. The food was very delicious as well as the cocktails (different from what you would get from other hotels). I like the concept of a la carte where there is no wastage of food (and overeat !) like in buffet. There is neither TV nor fridge in the room but cool jazzy relaxing music from the radio. Anyway, why would someone go to a hotel and badly need a TV (he better stay at home!). There is a drinking water fountain by the pool where you can refill your bottled water or cups. The beach is cleaned daily and sea safe for kids. This is the place where you can relax and take a break from the hectic stressful daily life I highly recommend this hotel.

We've just come back from a week stay at Salt of Palmar, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! The Hotel was fantastic, clean, spacious, peaceful, etc. We really liked how eco friendly and sustainable the hotels operations were. Everything from chemical free shampoo to their zero plastic policy, every small detail was thought through carefully and with the planet in mind.
The staff were amazing. Some of the best staff we've ever stayed with on holiday. Super friendly, great sense of humour and with top class service throughout. Alvin, Med, Vish, Bhishav, Tony, Gael and the rest of the team were amazing all week. We even got a chance to give something back in the skills share program where skills can be taught and learnt from either the guest or staff member. Being a specialty coffee professional myself I was able to pass on tips and teach the main barista great skills. The guys were very appreciative and was great to hang out with them on a casual basis.

Lastly the food was delicious, fresh and super healthy. With a vegan and vegetarian diet in mind the whole menu was centered around healthy meals, featuring breakfast bowls, full vegan offering and healthy main dishes.
The hotel also offered a full range of activities for the fitness conscious guests which were great fun, very interactive with other guests and also ran by Tony, an experianced PT and sports coach who went the extra mile for individuals with specific requests or issues.
We couldn't have asked for more, they even have an app so you know what's going on throughout the week and can view everything on the menu.

Highly recommend for anyone who is looking at Mauritius, we will definitely be back!!

Many thanks guys, we'll miss you

Wil and Jess

We really enjoyed our stay at Salt we loved the breakfast in particular it was beautifully presented and tasted good. We liked the idea of the water bottles that came in really useful. The amenities in the room were really nice especially the body scrub. Dinner was good too but service at lunch or dinner was quite slow and not as attentive as during breakfast. The hotel is positioned right on the corner between to beaches so you can walk along both which is nice. The bed was really comfortable and the resort is very quiet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The activities each day were good my partner tried the float fit and boot camp which was really good the instructor was really helpful and made it fun. There is not much else to do near the hotel we were only staying for 3 nights before moving around the island so this was ok for us. The prices were quite expensive for all food and drinks breakfast was over £50 for both of us to give you an idea so if you are not big eaters maybe pay as you go is a better option. Make sure you have some sea shoes as there are urchins so beware. Thank you salt for a lovely stay.

A stylish eco boutique hotel with unique character and charm, with silk white sand pristine beach. Warm and welcoming staff right from the gate to check-in, restaurant and the salt equilibrium spa personnel. Exquisite made to order bio goumet food with a local Mauritian touch, wide vegan variety too all in a eclectic eco green setting. A big shout out and thank you to Med, Sanjay, Bhashish, Vish & Kheerty for the personalised and devoted service and attention, and succulent dishes. We felt special and were taken good care of.
Heated pool and huge sun beds to enjoy. And the beach, felt like walking on white silk, soft to the touch and crystal clear and clean sea
We also enjoyed the truly unique and personalised massage therapy and magical healing himalayan salt room at the salt equilibrium spa. A big thank you to the spa therapists for the immersing experience and personalised attention.
The rooms are quaint and oh so charming.
A must visit and stay. Highly recommend to all those who are looking for a truly unique, personalised immersing experience.

Water sports (paddle boarding, kayaking, peddle boats, and snorkeling) were included. We also hired bicycles for a few hours, but I believe we paid a small fee for those. (But honestly don’t remember). If you want to travel off site, you will need to arrange a driver and pay accordingly. The resort has drivers who can take you anywhere you want to go. You just need to arrange ahead of time and pay accordingly

Hi Florynn, I would say that the hotel definitely deserves 4 stars just on location and the spectacle of the hotel itself. There are no mini-bars, fridges or even televisions in the hotel rooms, unfortunately, but believe me, you will not need them. Thanks Vince Harris (Stayed at Salt of Palmar for my Honeymoon, 6th - 15th October 2023)

Is there an evening dress code - are long trousers required for men or are smart shirts/T-shirts ok? Thanks 😊

Very laid back. No need for formal wear. I wore smart t-shirt, short sleeve shirts and loose trousers. Footwear didn’t stay on either under the table
