Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Time Out Hotel sits favorably close to Dover beach and the local scene, which guests love despite some mentioning the noise from nearby entertainment. The rooms are often described as clean and roomy with cozy beds, yet hints of needed upkeep and noise concerns appear in some feedback. Service at the hotel generally garners compliments for being attentive, although a few visitors noted service could be hit or miss. The well-maintained pool area is a highlight, even though some guests would like a broader selection at breakfast.
While the hotel is considered a value-for-money stay, critiques do surface regarding food prices and inconsistent room rates. Cleanliness shines through in guest reviews, with daily room service maintaining spotless conditions. The hotel's vibrant atmosphere, complete with music and dancing, adds to the overall experience, providing a lively and secure setting that's a hit with travelers.

Originally booked via Thomas Cook, balcony, breakfast etc. Due to their collapse, we rebooked with Virgin, same price but this was the 'Vhols Exclusive Special Offer Room' so we were excited.
Arrived, had a swift check-in to room 223, no balcony and overlooking the courtyard. We had a surprise to find we were directly above 'Amigos' sport bar, the music/karaoke starts in the evening until 11pm, don't bother closing the window, the vibration comes through the floor and down the corridor. Had to have several early nights due to early morning activities. Couldn't move room as told the hotel was quite busy.
As for sockets in the room, the telephone had to be unplugged so we could put the charger in and the kettle had to be taken into the bathroom. Told this is normal in Barbados
Had to run the shower for 30mins for some heat, apparently there's an issue with the boiler.
The room was clean but the towels weren't always changed as stated due to a shortage, on one occasion we were given pool towels in the bathroom, I could have dried better with a plastic bag.
Breakfast was not included with Virgin so we paid at the bar and then realized 9am is not a good time for breakfast. No cups, the juice had all gone the bread looked as if it had been thrown around. We ate elsewhere for the rest of the holiday (see Happy Days café).
Pool area was nice, especially when the monkeys were playing in the trees and normally had enough loungers to go around.
The hotel is the quieter side of the Gap and has a fabulous beach across the road. It's fairly easy to get anywhere and the Bajan people are lovely.
The courtesy room we had prior to departure was lovely, far enough from the bar, even had a selection of sockets.
Would we return ? Time Out no, Barbados definitely.

We stayed here for 11 nights, exactly what we needed a chilled out time out, continental breakfast is basic but adequate, you can order a cooked breakfast at a small cost, rooms clean, beds comfortable, showers perhaps need some updating but on the whole you get exactly what is advertised, plus it is just a stones throw from Dover Beach, beds and umbrellas available at $15 a day. Staff are lovely too especially the Manager Alicia .Thank You.

Timeout hotel is very conveniently positioned close to Dover beach, our room was on 3rd floor and was spacious, adequately furnished and spotless. It had a small balcony that overlooked the Dover recreation ground and had views of Dover beach to our left. This is a very popular and busy part of the St Lawrence Gap area and tended to be quite noisy well into the evening. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. and the swimming pool area had adequate sun beds and seating.
The restaurant is run as a separate entity to the hotel and the standard continental breakfast offered in the bed & breakfast price was adequate but limited, on 3 of the 7 days of our stay the only fruit available was apples, yogurt or boiled eggs would improve the menu. The evening meals offered were reasonable. I would visit this hotel again.

A return visit to Time Out, it’s location is brilliant in St Lawrence Gap across road from beach and away from the noisy area further up.
Rooms are spacious and lovely and clean, book a pool view room if you can they have a balcony and look over the peaceful pool area. I enjoyed tea and coffee facilities in the room not often provided abroad.
I have noted in other reviews the comments re breakfast and yes it is basic but this hotel is very reasonably priced for Barbados and other more expensive hotels are often room only too so I think it is good, I particularly enjoyed the porridge. You can purchase cooked items for just a couple of pounds and there is someone making fresh omelettes. (Don’t go expecting an all you can eat Spanish style breakfast )
This is a great hotel, it’s very clean and tidy in a good location, with a lovely pool area tho it is never very busy as the Caribbean Sea is a few steps over the road! The staff are lovely and efficient and helpful. We have stayed in a few hotels in Barbados and this is the only one we have returned to.
Look out for the new Cake Lady coffee shop near to the hotel - fabulous cakes and cuppas!

We previously stayed here in 2019 and had a few issues especially with the hot water but because of the location and affordability we decided to give it another go. The hot water this time was perfect just run the shower for a few minutes first. We were in room 225 overlooking Dover playing fields. The only thing I would say to Reception is when a customer checks in please ask them if they would like to use the safe or a hairdryer and iron because there are no items in the room and we had to go to reception on 3 occasions to sort this out. Most hotels have a hairdryer at least in the room. There was a fridge though so that was good. Pool area is nice. Amigos is very slow. All in all not too bad.

Returned today from a 1p day stay at time out, the hotel was really good in a fab location to beach, bars, nightlife etc.. nice comfy rooms, kept clean everyday. Didnt stay in the hotel too much as preferred other places for food & drinks, but when we went in bar staff were nice. Breakfast was very basic but fine to keep you going till lunch, or sometimes we went next door to prontos which was a fab bar for all food and drinks, our fave place to eat and 4 beers for 10 bds. Pool was nice although small and very quiet even when full so we tended to go to the beach which was amazing 2 secs across the road 30bds for beds and brolly. My only problem I had in the hotel was I had to get security for the first 3 nights due to a room of 4 teens next door screaming and playing music all night!! Was annoyed I had to complain 3 times and when at the end of my tether of 3rd night they just said oh it's ok they are leaving today, not good the hotel should have asked if I wanted to move after getting security 3 nights in a row !! The room we had was interconnecting so I would say always ask for a room that's not.

This was our second stay at Time Out and it didn't disappoint. The hotel has had a refurbishment since our first stay and looks very fresh and clean. We were in a deluxe room (No 203) which is lovely and spacious with a king size bed, a large bathroom, plenty of storage space and hangers. There is a decent size fridge and a kettle with tea & coffee sachets provided. The room overlooks the playing field on the side of the hotel but is away from the bar area so relatively quiet. Very effective air co. A nice balcony to sit on, which gets afternoon sunshine, and watch the world go by. We had a pool view room last time which didn't get any sun at all. Housekeeping do a great job keeping the rooms and public areas clean and tidy.
The pool area and gardens are well maintained and there are plenty of sun loungers and chairs available.
We had continental breakfast as part of our package which is "functional" and consists of porridge / cereal, toast with jam / marmalade, a cake and a piece of fruit. You can purchase cooked items but we didn't bother.
We didn't experience any problems but the staff were able to answer any queries we had and were most accommodating on our last day in providing a courtesy room in which to shower / change before our evening flight home.
The location of the hotel is perfect - away from noise of The Gap but easy to walk to it, a step away from the fabulous beach and plenty of lovely places to eat on the doorstep.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a laid back, easy holiday in the sunshine oh and if you go please feed the lovely little cat who sits so patiently by the bin in the garden!

Arrived 30th December for 14 nights. We have stayed many times in Barbados at different hotels / apartments. First time at Time Out although we have had drinks over the years at the bar which is now called Amigos and is a popular spot. We were told on arrival that our room would only be cleaned every three days due to Covid protocols although we could request towels if they were needed in between. Beach towels & hairdryer provided. We stayed in a pool view room. My daughter stayed in a deluxe room overlooking Dover playing fields. The hotel staff are so friendly. Service at Amigos was a little slow during the first part of our stay but significantly improved as the days went by. Again, the bar staff were extremely friendly. Their drinks are very reasonably priced. We only had breakfast a couple of times but both times were good, Hotel is located a 2 minute walk over the road from amazing Dover beach. We only used the pool on our last day and it was lovely. This is a competitively priced hotel in an excellent location and we plan to book a deluxe room for a return visit. We were so pleased (and felt very lucky) to be able to return to beautiful Barbados with the current climate and enjoyed every second of our holiday and Time Out.

Time Out Hotel isn’t a posh gaff, BUT it is a hidden gem. Nicely presented, tidy grounds well maintained with rooms that are basic but have everything you need - clean beds in huge rooms, clean but basic bathroom with complimentary soap, a fridge (full size) with kettle, and complimentary coffee, cream, sugar, sweetener and bottled water.
The pool area is adequate, plenty of loungers and tables with a mixture of sun and shade, it is clean and pleasant, and a big bonus for me is that there’s no obligatory pool music pumping from a tacky pool bar, it’s quiet and I appreciate that. This does mean you need to cater for yourself through the day or visit the adjoining (but separately owned bar) to get what you need - but this suited us.
I have to say I don’t recognise the negative reviews I’ve seen from others about bedding or cleanliness, or maintenance, the place looks good to me!
If you want a budget break in a beautiful place that gives you all the basics you need to enjoy yourself you won’t be disappointed. If you want first class luxury, activities and pool volley ball this is not the place for you. For me, it was perfect.

Stayed here for a week at the end of January and we really enjoyed it, we arrived there from the UK at around 5pm local time, check in was smooth and friendly and we were soon in our room, no lifts at this hotel however not a problem for us, the area although busy but not particularly noisy, music didn't go on too late and we never had any problems sleeping despite being right at the front of the property, roosters roam free all around this area as it's their home and like to make a noise but they just added to the holiday vibes.
The hotel is located right over the road from a beautiful beach at The Gap and several little bars and restaurants including one right on the beach Johnny's Bar which served ice cold local beers, rum punch and pina coladas etc, snacks and showed live football games.
We had a third floor balcony room which looked out onto the street so was good for people watching, room was fairly big with a huge bed, flat screen tv, fridge, kettle and tea coffee etc, and aircon worked fine, lots of storage space, WiFi was good too, the room was clean, nice pool but we only sat around once, we didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment, room was cleaned each day and towels changed every other day, tea coffee milk replenished daily.
The bus stop where you can catch a local bus into Bridgetown or Speightstown is about a 10 - 15 min walk from Time Out hotel on the main road at the start of the gap near The Yellowbird Hotel it's a flat fare of 3.75 USD per person each way.
Overall I would stay at this hotel again, it was fine.

Hi our room was on the first floor facing the main road, but not above the bar. Once our balcony door were closed we never heard anything. Rooms at the back by the pool looked good, but be aware Colin the Cockerel as i nicknamed him starts at 4/5am ! We had friends in those rooms and they did say he woke them up every morning. Lovely pool and sunloungers are available we had no problem. We were booked in as half board, but be aware they only do breakfast. On asking that is the only board they do food during day is available but you have to pay. good coffee shop few doors down from there. Travel agents seem to advertise this as half board we booked with Loveholidays and freinds of ours booked with Tui and had same problem.
I'm not sure, but all of their rooms are equipped with a mini-fridge
