Perfect

Great holiday - but!!!

First the Cons: terrible journey - plane Gatwick to Mykonos [Easyjet -vg], transfer to dockside and dumped!! at 12:15 waiting for the ferry to Syros at 19:35 - nearly 7 hours without any resources but a WC and an ice-cream stall in a grotty departure shed - not good enough…

Does Socrates taverna still exist? We went to Syros in 2006 stayed at the Dolphin Bay Hotel then.

I think Socrates taverna's gone im afraid. If its the one not far from Dolphin bay on the same side of the road. About 7 tavernas now

Visiting in July, do they change sterling at the studios or anywhere else locally, possibly a travel agency, or is there an ATM in the village please. If not are the buses disabled friendly so I could get on with my walking frame to get to a bank or ATM. What are the average cost of a simple meal out?

There is no exchange facility at the studios or in the village and no ATM. Buses run regularly and although I did use them, it appears they should be accessible with a frame. Average price for a main meal and dessert 10-15 euros, 3 euros for a beer and 6-8 euros for half litre of house wine.

We are staying at Galissas studios later this month. Our two year old son loves his full fat cows milk morning & evening. Is this readily available in the local shops or is it all UHT? We went to Rhodes earlier this year and struggled to find fresh milk so am a bit concerned. Thanks

Is there a pool bar with accommodation

Sorry there is no Pool bar here but locals shops are only a couple of hundred yards away with plenty of choice, All apartments have fridge and AC and the pool is excellent. Owner and wife are great and both speak very good English. Beach is very near and very nice. with a good taverna. We went for the first time this year and are booked to go back next year - have to say one of our best Greek holidays. Owner also does car hire - older models but good. We paid 25 euro's for 1 day, so not bad.
