Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed one night and very clean. All the staff were very helpful. Bedroom good size, bathroom good, one a tiny thing missing, slip mat for bath.. Gets slippery in there ! Room temp a little on warm side, Milk was turned when we arrived and fresh jug was turned by morning. But didnt dampen my enjoyment . Wonderful village .

The Chester is a tradition pub/restaurant/hotel located, in Ashford, about 30min outside Dublin, a convenient distance after disembarking the ferry.
We were a little concerned after all the notices about the lack of staff and restaurant closure, however, we stayed on a Saturday and were unaffected. Our greeting was warm and friendly and everything was adequately explained.
The room and bathroom were large, nicely decorated and clean with a bath and shower, small TV, large safe, bottled water, hair dryer and tea and coffee facilities. The wifi was free with no sign up and there was a good wifi signal, capable of supporting streaming, VoIP calls etc. There is ample off road parking in a gated car park to the rear of the hotel, but no particular facilities for motorbikes.
The restaurant has a good choice of food with ample portions and seemed very popular. There is also a good selection of dishes for breakfast. The pub was also a good size, modern, with plenty of settees to relax in, wood fire and many large screen TVs, showing different channels.
Criticisms; could do with a few more clothes hangers, although we didn't ask.

On our short tour in Ireland we stayed in a place close by. We did not expect such a nice place when we went for dinner. The place is with a very nice setting, quite large and with a quiet and traditional atmosphere (in the large back room). We had grilled cod fish and haddock and the dishes were excellent. The staff was super friendly.

Just had a weekend stay in the Chester Beatty, I couldnt recomend this any more. The level of service from the staff from young & old was amazing. Everyone was friendly and couldnt be more helpful, nothing was a bother. The lady at breakfast asked if we had a nice evening & we just mentioned we were too hot so she said she would say it to housekeeping, by the time we went up stairs the lady in housekeeping was aware of it & when we got back to a lovely refreshed room that afternoon we were greeted to a fan turned on cooling down the room. The bar & reastaurant staff were so friendly & effiecient & the food was of a very high standard but was very good value. I look forward to revisiting this hotel & area in the future as there is plenty to do with Brittas bay beach only a few minutes away & Mount Usher gardens only accross the road form the Inn both defineltly worth a visit

We had a gift certificate for Chester Beatty and decided to take advantage of it after the Christmas Holidays. We had wonderful time with truly comfort-food and atmosphere just like being at home, without the cleaning up afterwards. A family of five we had a mix of starters (shared) and mains which everyone enjoyed (16, 13 and 9 year olds) as there is a great selection to choose from across starters, mains and desserts. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We will definitely return.

A big thank you to all the Management and wonderful staff at Chester's for our lovely meal yesterday evening, they couldnt do enough for us. the service was quick and attentive.

Have no worries about social distancing everything was in place and run extremely well. We felt very comfortable while dining there.

There are set times for sittings we made a booking to be sure of a table as we know the weekends can be very busy.

Dont hesitate today give this restaurant a go you wont be dissapointed!

Chester's (as the locals refer to it) was recommend to my daughter and I by Cooley Farms who we were visiting. We stayed 4 nights. The room was well appointmented, and the beds very comfortable. The staff are very warm and helpful. Breakfast was very good. What made our stay particularly memorable was the pub. Our first night we ate by chance in the pub vs the restaurant. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere special. There was a warm fire, and most tables were populated by locals. We enjoyed dinner in the pub so much that although we were going to try a couple other restaurants in town during our stay we ate each night at the pub. I started each meal with a Guinness, which really does taste so much better in Ireland. Then we had either the steak, the curry, the beef and Guinness pie, a salad and/or a burger. We had the opportunity to be in the pub on a Saturday night and the place was buzzing with locals sharing a meal, spending time with friends, watching hurling on the TV, etc. All in the accompaniment of that warm fire. Being from the States it is what you might picture in your mind about what an Irish pub should be.

We stayed at the Chester Beatty Inn for two nights.
Our room was really clean and comfortable and we were made to feel really welcome by the friendly staff. The food was delicious- in fact I had the chicken and prawn dish both nights it was so tasty. Breakfast was also very good.
We felt very safe and could choose to eat indoors or outdoors.
Seating in the room with the TVs was very comfortable.
We used it as a base to tour Wicklow and so would also recommend a trip to Russborough House.
Thanks for a most pleasant stay.

Arrived at 2:30 for lunch with two toddlers. Usually we just about keep them entertained in time to eat our meal but having waited for 1.5hrs the kids began to get cranky so we had to leave. No sign of our food even on its way. We were all very hungry and frustrated to have kept the kids restricted for so long for no reason. Waitress was very nice and professional but we wish we had of been informed of the long wait before sitting, it's stressful at the best of times eating out with toddlers without a 1.5hr wait!!!!
