Excellent hotel. The staff was super friendly and extremely helpful. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. The room itself was clean, comfortable and had plenty of space for luggage and to stretch out. The bathroom was in nice condition and the shower had super water pressure. The hotel has plenty of free parking and offers a nice breakfast to start off the day. The staff went above and beyond during this stay to help out with some extra assistance that was required. The location of the hotel is great, within easy walking distance to the center of town and to the Grimsey ferry. The staff recommended a pizza place that served some great pizza just a couple of blocks from the hotel. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by Freyja, the lady at the reception, that offered us coffee and cookies and was very kind to us. Our room was very clean, confortable and also very quiet. Since we went for a self catering accomodation with shared bathroom we immediately realized that all the facilities were very clean and the kitchen well furnished.
On the second night of our stay we also saw the northern lights for the first time since arriving in iceland!!!!
We highly recommend this hotel to everyone that stops in Dalvik.

This hotel looks new and is just off the main road. We were originally booked for a Friday and Saturday night but due to weather our flight was cancelled. I phoned the hotel and offered to change the reservation for Saturday and Sunday night at no cost. Although we arrived late check in was easy. A lovely large room with a good view of Mountains. Bathroom was well stocked and had a powerful shower. Staff we met were very pleasant and happy to be in conversation. The breakfast was plentiful with plenty of choice. I loved the pickled herring. There is plenty of parking and is only a five minutes walk from the centre. Perhaps the only improvements I would make would be for tea and coffee in the rooms although these were available at reception 24/7 and a TV which would be useful particularly during the long winter days. The hotel is only 10 minutes walk from. the ferry to Grimsey. I would stay here again.

The first night we arrived late at night in May and there was nobody at the reception desk. Some other guest pointed to us that our keys were in a basket with our name attached to it, which was confusing.
There was no elevator to the second floor. No top sheet on the bed. Small room, no toiletries.
The next morning our host Freya was nice at the breakfast room and very helpful. So we left to explore the area for the day and we arrived late again that second night we realized our room wasn't cleaned at all. No way to ask for clean towels since nobody was at the reception desk and obviously our bed wasn't made, our bathroom was dirty and the trash was still there.
There is a reason why we choose hotels over other types of accommodations and that's because we like our room to be cleaned everyday!! We stayed two nights in here and paid almost $300.00 US dollars for the two nights and no one cleaned our room!! That's never happened to us before. Is it a standard practice or is it just very, very bad management? How could they not clean a room in a hotel??
I wouldn't recommend this kind of hotel to anybody.

Came to Hotel Dalvik on an EF tour with my stepson’s Junior High School class trip. The hotel is very clean and quiet. The rooms are very clean and well kept. Breakfast and dinner were prepared on site by the family that runs the hotel, so the food was excellent every day. Location is perfect for going on excursions in all directions in the north of Iceland. This is a wonderful hotel and I recommend it to everyone.

We recently stayed at Hotel Dalvic as part of a High School trip to Iceland. Our gracious host Freya, her staff and family were welcoming and accommodating to the unpredictable needs of a group of students and their chaperones. The rooms were clean, neat and very comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful with fresh baked bread daily and a wide assortment of fresh fruits, meats and cheese. There was always something to satisfy even the most particular teenagers. Freya cooked us two lovely meals during our stay, a savory lamb stew and a delicious teenager friendly lasagna. Dalvik is a perfect location to stay for exploring Northern Iceland. A quaint and cozy setting, with all the services you might need. Nestled in the fjord between a ski hill and a lovely beach. It is impossible to turn in any direction without encountering spectacular views of snow capped peaks and blue ocean. Back at home from the school trip, we are already pondering a return with my family.

Hotel Dalvik is comfortable and in a quiet little town at a small distance from the main tourist areas. The staff were amazing at accommodating the large group I was traveling with. I'd happily stay there again!

The only good thing about this hotel is it's closeness to the ferry terminal. Otherwise it is a disaster. The tap in the bathroom is all rusty and with salt deposits. The tap also had grout settled there for years. The soap they provide was hard to get out from body. There are paper cups in rooms. Rooms are very weird. Shelves are fitted over headboard of the bed which is a safety hazard and you can easily bang your head against it.

The quality of rooms is below average.

The staff is fantastic! Freya home made all of our breakfast and dinner. We were in an EF tour with a school and they were very welcoming to our students. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very helpful to our needs. They were able to suggest activities such as horse riding and give us direct contacts to schedule the activities with the locals. They made our visit to Iceland one of our favorite EF trips we have done! Thank you Hotel Dalvik!

I couldn’t have been more pleased with my stay at the Hotel Dalvík. It is new and spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are not huge, but mine was more than adequate and very comfortable. I arrived early, and they were still able to get me a room so I could get some much-needed sleep.

It’s a 10-minute walk to the ferry — OK, maybe 12 minutes if you’re pulling heavy luggage. Town and restaurants are 5-10 minutes away.

I would happily return here.
