Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We had a two week stay in the three bedroom apartment which was one of the best locations we have ever stayed. Sitting above the sea watching the sunsets or even watching the rain, it was the perfect peaceful spot!! There were sunbeds on the veranda aswel as ones available for use on the beach. Tea and coffee is provided in the room, beds are comfy, view from bed to die for!! The people in these apartments and village are so friendly and we made some lovely friends. Breakfast was tasty with a good selection, sometimes we even had fresh fish caught by Ancle the afternoon before. Loved it here so much we are going back for three weeks over this New Year. Sadly we couldn't get the same apartment as we left it late to book but I'm sure the one we get will still be good. Lovely boat trip arranged by Ancle in a small group of six which was really special. There is a great restaurant a few steps away on the beach, plus sevral others within walking distance. the supermarket is a five minute walk along the beach. It is somewhat limited and very expensive but there is a big one you can use if you have hired a car. Take some duty free wine/spirits as the drinks are very expensive in the supermarkets. £20 for a bottle of wine, £50 for vodka. A car is not needed but preferable as there are so many other beautiful beaches to visit, and of course the rainforest! We also enjoyed helping the fishermen bring their nets in. You must walk down to the waterfall in the village for a swim - it is very easy to get in and out and so clean and fresh. Talk to your neighbours, most seem to come back year after year and can give great tips on places to visit. I cannot recommend this place enough, would give 10/10 if could. Can't wait to be back!!

I spent 5 perfect days with my family (8 people) at Naturalist. We stayed at Wahoo, Snapper and King Fish. Wahoo has a hot tub that we used every night. It has a beautiful view and is very private. The view from the patio is amazing! We watched the fishermen and the beautiful sea. The King Fish condo has an outdoor shower and a bird feeder on the patio. We saw 10 species of hummingbirds. Wonderful. Rooms are clean, daily housekeeping. Breakfast was very good. The owner Ancle is very helpful. If you like to snorkel, swim behind the reef on the right side. There is a small, deserted beach and lots of coral and fish. If you are not a good swimmer, you can walk there by the path past the church up in Castara. I highly recommend the Naturalist Beach Resort. Thanks Ancle.

This was my 2nd time back at Naturalist as this is the only place I will ever stay at when I am in Castara. It was an unforgettable trip for my husband and I and we were both beyond touched by Ancle and Tracey's warmth and hospitality. They treated us like family and all the other guests were just as lovely. We stayed in Tuna which faces the beautiful forested area and had lots of pretty birds to keep us company. With mere steps away from the beach the ocean lulled us to sleep every night. Tuna, although a bit cheaper than the rest if rooms, was spacious, beautifully rustic and and well equipped with everything you can possibly need. We had strong water pressure both hot and cold and fantastic internet connection. We loved the breakfast selections every morning and the cleaning service was stellar. (The custodian is really lovely) We can't wait to be back! Thank you Ancle and Tracey for all that you do for your guests and your beautiful community of Castara. We love you! S & J.

Me and my husband really enjoyed staying at the Naturalist for x2nights. We wished we had booked longer. The Naturalist accommodation is literally on the beach front at one end of the beach, your apartment either is on the beach or just set a little back from the beach but with a sea/beach view. Our appartment had a balcony where we spent most of our time either sat at a table or on sun beds. The room had an en-suite and kitchenette. Ancle is very helpful who manages Naturalist Beach Resort and also provides suggestions for sights to see, places to visit, where to eat etc…they serve a good range of breakfast too, in the kitchen veranda area down l stairs which is a bit of a community hub. You have 24/7 access to cold water and ice down there too. Also to wifi. The beauty of staying here is stepping out of your accommodation onto the beach, which is beautiful. I highly recommend the Almond Tree restaurant for dinner their food is outstanding and almost next to the naturalist we went there 3-4 times during our stay even when we stayed outside of Castara. The Naturalist is also close to the shops/market area and other bars and restaurants. Reccomend checking out Marvin’s bar, the oven bake, and Ducks food next to it. Thanks Ancle we certainly will be back for the room with the hot tub next time!

Spent 3 days at this serene and beautiful resort in Castara . The location is absolutely peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle of Store Bay. Waking up every morning with a view of the ocean was fantastic . The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Staff amazing, and Ancil was very accommodating and helpful.

We stayed in the blue Marlin, which had a huge balcony that overlooked the beautiful blue waters, where we could watch the stingrays swim. We were steps to the most beautiful beach and all of its activities in Castera. Once you open the shutters in your suite, the breeze was magnificent and there was no need for air conditioning. There is mosquito net over the bed and if you forget to bring mosquito coils you can purchase them at the little store at the end of the beach where you can also purchase beverages and groceries. At the breakfast buffet, you could make your own waffles, toast and there was always a small variety to chose from.

I just completed a wonderful stay at the Naturalist staying in the Bonito room. The biggest asset of this property is the location. Right on the beach and walking distance to everything in the village which includes three bars, a grocery store, a few minimarts and about six restaurants. Another plus is that it offers a range of different accommodations- from luxury flats with ocean views through to more budget-friendly rooms such as mine which face the back of the property. The lack of view is the only downside for the lower priced rooms though as they still include powerful AC, a kitchenette and the breakfast buffet each morning. There is fantastic snorkeling just a five minute swim from the beach which is a free activity that I took full advantage of. My host, Ancle was a kind and knowledgeable man. His relaxed and calm nature is the perfect fit for a “go slow” type of place like Castara. He runs a clean and well maintained property that I hope he takes pride in.

We stayed for 10 days at the Naturalist. The apartment was amazing-stunning view just a wonderful and very relaxing place. Very peaceful, the sound of the waves, the hummingbirds outside on the tree-it was like in a dream! Our daughter (8 years) was every day snorkeling and the stingrays had always been a big highlight! The naturalist is situated in a top position-restaurants, supermarket in walking-distance. Waterfall also stunning and in about 20 min. walking distance. Castara is a beautiful fisherman’s village! The people are very friendly and restaurants offer lovely Caribbean food. On Thursday is the bonfire on the beach with music and pan! Many little events more-just lovely! We just loved this beautiful place and we hope to come back soon! Thank you Ancle-we enjoyed so much to stay at your beautiful paradise!
