I just like to highlight that this pension - like the majority of facilities in the area - has been swallowed by the latest eruption magma, it doesn't exist any longer. At the moment riconstruction activities are ongoing all around, so the pousada may come back sooner or later!

I had plans to stay at the other hotel Pedra Brabo's owners run in Chã das Caldeiras, but ended up here. Pedra Brabo is a beautiful place to stay for a couple of nights but one must be aware of the lack of some amenities: no hot water, no electricity for most of the day and night and shared bathrooms....

First impressions on approaching this hotel are not promising. However, this small basic accommodation is neat and well maintained, offers basic amenities and the staff are lovely, although none of them speak English. We had lunch which was chicken cooked with fruit and sweet potato. Dinner was whatever was left over from lunch and breakfast was ok. Rooms are clean...

We unfortunately stayed elsewhere in Cha and frankly, I think the Pousada is the best place to stay. There is no electricity in Cha and very few generators. So, not surprisingly, water is cold. But after climbing the Pico and getting down, at least the Pousada has a lovely and restful environment to offer - and excellent meals when we...

We had decided not to stay at this place, because the guidebook made out it was so basic. However, we visited it and had a good look round, including inside the rooms, as we knew some people who were staying there - and we realised we had made the wrong decision! Yes, there are only shared, cold water bathrooms, but...

I think after the most recent reviews the owner left and opened a new B&B in town, so when we went there (October 2012) he or any other Western person was nowhere to be found - which was absolutely fine with us! The place is absolutely great, but of course viewed from the perspective that you're in the middle of...

After hiking to see the site of the 1995 eruption (a must to see the incredible colors here) we hiked down to the Pousada Pedra Brabo also known as 'Chez Patrick' due to the French owner and where we would be spending the night before the big climb to the summit the following morning. What a welcoming site! A lovely...

The other reviewers are correct - a non-French speaking tourist is ignored by the owner. If you speak Portuguese or Creole you can still be very well received by the wonderful Cape Verdean staff. They laid out an early morning breakfast for me upon request so I could go hiking before dawn but still get my coffee! Pousada Pedra Brabo...

After a fascinating ride through an extremely marvelous and deserted landscape, we arrived at 'Pousada Pedra Brabo' or 'Chez Patrick', as the locals tend to name it. Beautiful and simple architecture, the courtyard with it's corridors show even a bit of a cloister atmosphere. A woman accepts our vouchers and that's it. Nothing happens, we feel a bit lost. One...
