A beautiful island with nice walks. The staff are very wonderful people. Having to pay for poor quality blocks of Wifi was very hard to work with. The tree top Bure's have no air conditioning and are very uncomfortable. The Deluxe Bure's have air conditioner but it struggles.

Bula David and Jeskah, Thank you for taking the time to send through your thoughts on your recent stay and I will endeavour to respond to the more relevant comments. Wifi in the Yasawa Islands is unfortunately very dependent upon our location. As you would realise by having visited us, the reception here is often slow, inconsistent or just not operating. The cost of operating even this level of service is expensive both for guests and our own management/communication needs. Most people however quickly adapt to the Yasawa lifestyle and forget about the world at large! I hope in a little way you did the same. Our Treetop Bure's are clearly advertised as being fan cooled and non air conditioned - in fact they are our most popular accommodation booked from all our options, including those that come with air conditioning. The views from the Treetops Bures and the closer to the 'old' Fijian lifestyle are what makes them so popular. I'm sorry to hear you had problems with the air conditioning in your Deluxe Villa. On checking the dates of your stay, we can acknowledge there were some issues with our on site generator which caused a few outages and 'go slows' and for that we apologise. Again, we are in a remote part of the world and rely heavily on generators, solar for our power and just about everything to make a happy stay possible. As for TV, most guests love the fact that there is no TV in the rooms BUT we would also point out that, again, due to our location, the only station received in the area is a cable news style station from the mainland which rarely delivers worthwhile viewing experiences. I am glad you made time to enjoy what most come to the Yasawa Islands for - relaxing, resting, sleeping and of course enjoying the people, the sounds and the culture that makes our place in the world so special. If you return in the future, you can rest assured the smiles and the welcome will be the same. Vinaka from the Nanuya Island Resort Team

Bula and greetings from Nanuya Island Resort, We are disappointed that you did not, as so many others do, enjoy the peaceful, tranquility of the Yasawa Islands. To assist us in investigating your comments, could you advise when you actually visited with us here at Nanuya (dates etc)? To answer your review comments. 1: I guess the old idiom is true - one man's banquet is another man's poison! We try and satisfy all our guests but this is impossible. Most food is grown and sourced locally, given the vast distances from civilization. Most guests appreciate the range and quality of food as can be seen from reviews published over time, however we recognise that not all tastes are the same. 2: Nanuya Island Resort is located on a small point or promentory with superb views across the blue lagoon and adjacent islands. We do in fact maintain a small beach area in front of the resort but also are fortunate enough to have the best beach in the Yasawa Islands, just a short 10 minute walk along the sandy beach. 3: The swimming and waters around Nanuya Island Resort are crystal clear most of the year and we are proud to have some of the best coral reef and snorkeling areas nearby. Blue Lagoon point is a mere 15 minute walk away and attracts guests from other nearby resorts to experience this wonderful location, just next door to Nanuya Island Resort. 4: The only time we cancel activities is when the weather turns bad or conditions make it dangerous to venture out on the ocean waters. Our trip to the Caves is the one 'must do' event that every visitor to Yasawa MUST do and we never cancel unless the safety of our guests is threatened. 5. We have covered the food issue above and again regret you did not find locally produced, grown and served food to your taste. Our winning the 2018 Sustainability Award for Fiji is a testament to our dedication in this area. 6: There are indeed a number of other fine resorts in the area - but not many! One caters primarily for young families and couples, one is more up market and Nanuya focuses on those persons looking for a more discerning traveller, seeking a little of the old Fiji with the most modern of facilities. 7: Thank you for noticing our beautiful landscaping which occupies most of the time of our local staff, who treat Nanuya as their second home. Fauna in the Yasawa Islands is part of the charm no matter where you stay. 8: The Yasawa Islands are a choice by the traveller to visit a less developed, less 'touristified' and more culturally sensitive and 'real' part of Fiji. We are a long way from the mainland and this is reflected in the more authentic and laid back way of operating in these waters. A visit to the Yasawa Islands (if you open your eyes) will be a moment in time to remember always. 9: Thank you again for recognising that our staff are the heart of our business BUT their smiles are genuine, their friendship real and not because of their employment. It is unfortunate to hear your stay was not what you expected but be assured most of our guests welcome their time with us and I hope one day you will return and find our welcome as strong and our smile as broad as you would expect.

We stayed in this resort for just over a week. It was the 4th resort we have stayed at in the Yasawa group of islands and our 12th visit to Fiji. It is a relaxed peaceful and beautiful part of the islands. I'll go through some details across the different aspects of the trip.

Bula and Vinaka from our Nanuya Family, We were so pleased to receive your review and the positive thoughts expressed about your time with us in the Yasawa Islands. We, at all times, strive to provide as authentic an experience while our guests are in the Yasawa Islands and more specifically, Nanuya Island Resort. Most guests appreciate the level of comfort without forsaking the culture, serenity and friendliness of the staff and peoples within our region. We would also like to address your comments on our owner. Within the islands he is considered a 'unique' but at all times revered member of the community, with special emphasis on the local people. Although a little 'rough around the edges', he has devoted many years and even more dollars to improving and assisting the lifestyles of both Nanuya staff and also the many villagers who have benefited from his kindness and support. To further amplify his reputation and regard by the Yasawa people, he has been bestowed with the Tabua - a trophy awarded only rarely to people by the village chiefs for service to the community. He has not only received this award once, but in fact has twice been accorded this great honour. The staff and in fact all of us acknowledge this fine work and tend to gloss over any imperfections - in fact most of our guests when introduced, feel the same way. You are correct in your assessment of our staff - they are truly awesome and representative of all that is good about the Yasawa Islands. We will ensure your well wishes are passed on to all those highlighted in your review. We truly hope you will return one day to our special little piece of Paradise and guarantee you will once again be received and welcomed by all of us here at Nanuya Island Resort. Vinaka

We spent 5 days in this resort, staff were friendly and welcoming. Accommodation in villa was luxurious and extremely comfortable. Water was amazing, snorkelling breathtaking in places. Cave activity outstanding (extra cost) and use of kayaks, snorkelling gear included. WiFi

I must begin by saying that staff are incredible at this resort, they are attentive, servicial, kind and very helpful. The “poor” rate has nothing to do with them. This resort is built on top of rather than on the beach, which doesn’t give you the inclusive feeling other

Bula from Nanuya Island Resort, We appreciate you taking the time to review our property and we are so pleased to hear your kind words regarding our local staff. We would like to address a number of your comments - 1: Nanuya Island Resort is located on the northwestern point of Nanuya Lailai Island and faces towards the west and the setting sun. This location on the leeward side of the island, avoids most of the winds and strong climatic conditions other resorts experience. We also get to give our guests the best location to view the stunning Yasawa sunsets. 2: The resort does in fact have a small, safe and calm beach area as well as a very good coral reef snorkelling experience immediately in front of the property BUT we are also very fortunate to be within 15 minutes walking distance of the best blue lagoon beach and snorkelling experience in the area. Long, wide sandy beach from from the resort all the way down the point. This area is so popular that other resort guests have to be transported by boat to get the experience right next door to our Nanuya Island Resort. 3: Our pricing compares most favourably with all resorts in the area of a similar standard - in fact when we factor in our budget style accommodation in The Boat House, we would be the best value and range of options of all. 4: We will never have a pool and this is well documented on our website - why would we when we have some of the best swimming and diving facilities at our doorstep? It is the vision of the owners to maintain as much of the true charm and tranquility of the Yasawa Islands, while offering our guests all the expected comforts of home. Activity around a pool tends to disrupt this level of experience which is why many similar resorts in the northern Yasawa Islands have also opted to not install a pool. 5: The resort over the last 4 years has been extensively refurbished, renovated and new accommodation added so we are unsure of your comments in this area. We believe in our resort and the majority of reviews support this position and would ask that when and if you ever return to the Yasawa Islands, you might look at us with renewed vision and understanding. Thank you for staying with us and rest assured we will always do our best to provide a good level of quality without sacrificing our overall vision for Nanuya and the Yasawa Islands people. Vinaka

Bula and my apologies for the delay in reply. You have the option of going up by seaplane or helicopter but this would be on a sole charter basis which is pretty expensive. However, you also have the option to pay for a charter speedboat from Tokoriki to Beachcomber Island, where you can connect the Yasawa Flyer ferry that services guests up to us. The cost of the speedboat from Tokoriki is F$555.00, however, this rate is applicable from 8am-4.30pm and times outside of these hours an additional fee of F$95 per hour will apply. The Yasawa flyer picks up from Beachcomber at 9.15am, so if you leave by speedboat at 8am, you should be there plenty of time to connect this and the cost of the Yasawa Flyer from Beachcomber to Nanuya is F$225 per person in the Captains Lounge which is aircon and includes snacks and drinks. I hope that this information was informative for you. Thank you Lucy
