Here's a little secret only a few people know about: if you're planning a trip to Tobago, one of the most charming hotels is Half Moon Blue Hotel at the Donkey Cart House. Nestled in gardens of palms, bamboo and bougainvillea, the hotel's suites lay beneath the hill of historical Fort George. Eight extra spacious suites and one spectacular Penthouse loft overlook the horizon, the half moon shaped Bacolet Bay and the overflow swimming pool where midnight swims are a must! The decor sets your mood for serene and lazy days and romantic exotic nights. These colonial styled suites with jalousied windows and doors open onto verandas with rattan chaise-lounges, creating the perfect spot for what ever your heart desires like that best seller you have been dying to read. On a clear day you can see the sister isle of Trinidad. These breathtaking panoramic views with their romantic surf washed coves can be seen from our balconies with the beach only a 2 minute trot away.

Lovely hotel with great views especially poolside. The buffet breakfast which was served in a garden setting offered a great variety. Had some issues with room service and getting a timely response to issues but generally a good stay.

Listing the bad 1. Staff not too friendly, just going through the motions 2. Front Foyer of room smelled moldy 3. Door half Rotted and not well secured 4. Apt. needed Cleaning, there was dust, cobwebs and what looked like bird droppings throughout. 5. A proper kitchenette may have been nice. 6. Shower needs drastic updating. 7. Coverings on balcony chairs were too dingy. 8. Entire place a bit run down 9. Price should be a bit lower reasons given above. The Good. 1. Miss Rachel was Nice 2. Beds was Comfortable enough 3. Breakfast was filling and tasty 4. The view from the property was fantastic

We booked this as the reviews seemed good, I will be honest this is not a high class hotel, but it is such a querky place it catches you and you just have to love it. We had the superior penthouse and it was a cracking room that went on forever, massive balcony with sea views. The pool outside we had to ourselves every day we stayed in. you get breakfast at the Cafe Havana across the road which does a decent breakfast. The little pizza snack bar at the front is good to sit and chill in the evening, only down side it was not open all the time. The staff here were friendly. The hotel is in a quiet location which was fine for us for the week but for longer would have been a bit too quiet, But you are a 15 minute walk in to Scarborough if you need to get out. would I recommend this…

A great place to stay, wonderful staff and great views! The rooms we stayed in were beautiful and cosy. Having access to a secluded beach and pools were a bonus. I spent a wonderful weekend here and will be back again soon!

We booked a ground floor room, but were upgraded to the top floor, unbelievable view from our large private balcony! Quite a few stairs, but worth it! Charming romantic room with four poster canopy bed (strewn with flowers for arrival), air, and large clean bathroom. Infinity pool outside our door that none else used, as well as the 2 infinity pools in the sister hotel across the street. Really close. Beautiful private beach with lots of shade, great beach bar, they even served us lunch on the beach! Again lots of stairs. Tremendous friendly helpful staff, great food, fun bar! I would definitely recommend, especially as you don't need a car, and you do in most parts of Tobago.

Superior Penthouse is whole top floor in a former house. It is unclear what comprises this hotel or what is an association of a number of adjacent businesses which share facilities. The SP is visually stunning - completely under-described on their web site. A slope and lots of steps to get there, but WOW when you do. with wonderful views from the huge balcony - 2 settees and 2 sun beds). The inside is almost completely open plan and the wooden rafters and roof finishes give it a very lofty feel. 2 huge 4-poster beds with mosquito netting, settee and chaise lounge, double vanity unit, kitchen area, huge shower with 2 glass walls (fun but no privacy) wc, lcd tv, drawers and cupboards, safe. 2 x aircon unit (bit noisy but have remote controls). External wall to patio is half glass…

We LOVED staying here, and opted to move up here after a short stay in the sister property (Bacolet Bay Beach Club) across the street (and closer to the shared pool and beach access). If you like quiet seclusion (or birdwatching from your deck) and older but beautiful rooms with lots of dark wood decor...well, this is your place. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Bonus is the second pool that you can access closeby, which doesn't get anywhere near as busy as the lower one across the street. Meanwhile it's still a short shuffle to all the same amenities as the adjoining sister property across the street, and the beautiful beach and beach bar.

Loved it here! we were just looking for a honeymoon where we can unwind, move at our own pace, don't have to rush to do any tours etc hence we chose the sister isle Tobago. Sister hotel Bacolet Beach Club is just across the street and has shared facilities so you can use their pool also. Beautiful welcome platter and bottle of wine greeted us. Flower petals and swan folded towels on the four post bed. Excellent buffet breakfast! private beach is ok, nice to relax, not very big. Car rental easily available as they provide this service. Couples massage was really good and champagne breakfast was delightful. Amazing views from our room, doors open out to private spacious balcony giving that true breezy, Caribbean feel. Would not hesitate to go back again. honeymoon package was…

A little off the beaten track this boutique hotel was a fantastic find, affordable, service was good, staff friendly, helpful and accommodating. Rooms are large, beds comfortable four poster with mosquito nets exactly as shown in the hotel photographs. All the little luxuries you would expect we found here, including iPod docking stations in the rooms. We arrived late for breakfast the first day when everything had been put away but the staff still cooked us full breakfasts, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely stay here again.
