Situated on the fringe of the foothills, the old Villa Stabbia offers serenity of the countryside, yet is only 5 minutes away from all the facilities of Montecatini Terme, a modern spa town and tourist resort, a short distance from medieval villages and 30 min. away from both Pisa and Florence. Nestled among the green hills, the seventeenth century farmhouses in the grounds of the villa have been converted into six luxury holiday apartments offering all modern conveniences. The enchanting position offers our guests a vacation that is unique from all points of view. Each apartment at Villa Stabbia is on two or more levels with a surface area of around 100 m2, has a spacious kitchen/living-room with fireplace, two double bedrooms each with a bathroom. The organically driven farm produces an internationally award-winning extra virgin olive oil, infused oils and Vin Santo. The riding centre on the farm has several horses and certified instructor available for lessons or treks into the beautiful Tuscan countryside.

We visited Villa Stabbia during the month of February to celebrate my Wife's 50th birthday. Tine and Mario were fabulous hosts. The accommodation with their large open fires were fantastic. We had family and friends stay also and enjoyed eating and socialising together in the huge BBQ area. There is a large library, washing facilities, bikes all free! Villa Stabbia is situated close enough to town to walk to the shops and far enough away to be in the country side. You must do the Olive Oil tour you will not be disappointed!

We had a wonderful relaxing week at villa Stabia. Thanks to the couple that run the place with their co workers.
Our appartment was roomy, clean and decorated in a typical Italian authentic farmhouse style. Because Stabia has only 6 appartments the number of tourists is limited which provides you with a relaxing surroundings. Stabia sells great olive oil produced according to high ecological standards. There is a nice pool and the location of Stabia is great to discover the northern Tuscan area. Close to Florence, Pisa and Luca.
If you consider to visit Tuscany, consider this agriturismo. If you like horse back riding, this is the place to be!

This was such an amazing find for our family!! We did extensive research for just the right place and Villa Stabbia was it! It was one of if not the highlight of our 2 week trip to Europe (which also included the Netherlands and France). Everything was great from the initial contact we had with Tine who was very responsive throughout the booking process with any and all questions we had. We did not want to stay in Florence but rather the countryside just outside. It was approx. a 25min. drive to Villa Stabbia from Florence. We have two children ages 7 and 10 and we were concerned that staying in the countryside for a week that the kids would not have many people their age to interact with. This was not the case at all, from the moment we arrived we were greeted by other vacationers who were from France, Germany and Holland all of which had children our ages and some were returning for their second or third visit. Between the Horseback riding lessons from Tine and Mario, tasting the delicious olive oils that they make, the over size chess game my son loved, the amazing pool, surrounding grounds and scenery we felt like we had struck gold. The Villa we stayed in was exactly as pictured and exactly what we wanted. It was so immaculately clean, modernized and cared for yet I believe it is several hundred years old. The kitchen was fully stocked and the beds were very comfortable. We had the chance to visit a few of the other villas on the property and they all had the same charm. We were also greeted with a beautiful basket of goodies upon our arrival that consisted of items that were all from their farm. We cannot recommend this place highly enough to anyone who is considering taking a trip with our without kids to the tuscan countryside. Our 7 year old son was literally in tears when we left because he was so sad to be leaving such an amazing place and experience!

In june 2009 we went to Villa Stabbia for the 2. time... And trust me, we are going there next year again.
Tine and Mario are wonderfull people with a big heart, and they are more than pleased to share their lovely place with other people.
They make this lovely olive oil and wine - you have to taste it, it makes you whant more ! A travel around the mountains on horse back is an unbelivebel experience, so if you like horseback riding, don't miss this wonderfull oppertunity to discover Tuscany in an other way.
At the end of the day it's lovely to take a swim in the pool, it's so refreshing, and the water in it is from their own spring.
Come and feel, smell and taste the place, there is nothing like it !!

After doing extensive research on Agriturismos in Italy through various websites, as well as communicating via e-mail with Tine, one of the agriturismo's owners, we decided Villa Stabbia sounded like the perfect place for our families. We were two families traveling together (4 adults, 6 kids under 14) and wanted a week in the country between our stays in Venice and Rome.

Villa Stabbia was everything we had hoped for in that the hosts were extremely warm and friendly, the farm was beautiful with horse pastures and olive trees as well as an inviting pool to cool off in at the end of a busy day. The location was great for touring northern Tuscany as it was very conveniently located for day trips to Florence, Pisa and even the Cinque Terre.

Each family stayed in its own apartment, right next to each other. The apartments were very clean and quaint. The only drawback was that it was exceptionally hot during our stay and the apartments were not air conditioned (which is quite common, apparently.) Tine did give us fans, which helped, but it took a little getting used to. If you're really sensitive to the heat, this is definitely something to consider.

We spent many hours pool side and the kids enjoyed hanging out and relaxing. Tine also gives riding lessons, which a few children from each family participated in. She was also kind enough to share some green beans from her garden one evening, which was delightful.

The only negative that I feel I must mention is that, because the villa is situated in such a great location for day trips to several of the more touristy areas, it is just outside of a more urban area in Tuscany. The town of Montecatini Terme is a very commercial town and, while you feel remote when you're at the villa, you are really in a fairly developed part of Tuscany. It's great for touring, but if you're looking for something out of "Under the Tuscan Sun" then this may not be the place for you. If you're looking for a conveniently located, lovely villa/farmhouse, so that you can be just about anywhere in Northern Tuscany within an hour, then this is a great spot.

We would definitely recommend this villa and cannot think of anything negative about the villa itself. It is a gem. And for a truly exceptional experience, ask Tine and Mario about the restaurant in Colle, up the mountain from their farm. The food is to die for and the atmosphere could not be lovelier. Our kids played soccer in the courtyard with several local Italian children and chased kittens around while we ate seafood and drank wine. This was, by far, our favorite night in Italy!

Villa Stabbia is located on a picturesque hilltop surrounded by olive groves and beautiful countryside. The villa was well equipped, nicely laid out and very comfortable. It was lovely being welcomed by Tine with a basket full of home produce. The pool was wonderful and warm. It was also great to play table tennis, table football and read books from the library. A nice amenity was the use of a washing machine. The horse riding lessons given by Tine were great for my 9 year old daughter. It was good for her not only to ride different horses but also to learn how to prepare and care for the horses. Tine is so calm, patient and encouraging. We enjoyed Mario's olive tasting tour and found it very informative. We had such a relaxing holiday and can't thank Tine and Mario enough. We would definitely recommend Villa Stabbia.

As it was my first visit I could never have prepared myself for how truly magical Vila Stabbia and the surrounding Tuscan countryside was. Tine and Maria were so welcoming and helpful the entire time. I am already panning my next trip to stay with them again.
The vila's all offer at-home dining facilities which suits families and couples young and old. The gorgeous and delicious olive oil produced on the estate is worth much more than their gracious prices, as is the local tuscan products and wine.
While there we visited Vinci and San Gimignano on day trips. The location of the vila is perfect for exploring everything Tuscany has to offer, with reasonable driving times to all major attractions ans cities.
The pool was divine and a welcome refreshment to escape the Tuscan heat.
Cannot recommend enough!

We visited with a group of 26 travelers for olive tasting. The olive tasting was not a "normal" tasting at which you get some bread and several varieties of olive oil to taste (I have done this at several other more "industrial" sites). The hostess and owner, a most gracious and welcoming Danish woman, whose Italian husband worked the presses while we watched, prepared numerous dishes of bruschetta, broccoli, potato section finely sliced and offered 5 unique olive oils. These oils were not only orgnic but unique because she had spent several years developing a method to infuse lemon, mushroom, peppers etc respectively in a way that did not cause the oil to deteriorate (spoil) in short time as is normally the case. The lemon and the mushroom flavored oils were my favorites. They are sold in small (easy to take back to the US) bottles at only 5 Euros a bottle. The villa dates from 1500's and was owned by one of the Medici family handed down for generations. There is a pool and beautiful, well-kept grounds. Definitely will plan to spend a few days here next time!

Wow! This was actually one of my favorite experience in Florence. It was so relaxing. I did not stay at Villa Stabbia but I went for horseback riding and olive oil tasting.
My train arrived from Florence at 6am and she even took the time to pick me up from the train station and drop me off at no additional fee. (It is about a 50 minute train ride).

I hadn't been on a horse in a very long time but it was just like riding a bike (in a way). Plus, our instructor did a great job of explaining a few things to make the ride much easier and took the time to slow down while I was getting the hang of it. The views were breathtaking. We were able to pick blackberries and pears straight off the trees for breakfast on the horse. After the class I did an olive oil tasting which was very educational and ended up purchasing 4 bottles! It was an overall amazing experience and a gorgeous property. Next time I would consider staying there as well!
