We found this hotel almost by chance. Although we checked in quite late, they welcomed us and provided a great spacious room, cared for, clean and with all the services of a 4 star. Superb bathroom. Despite the hour, we were also able to have dinner choosing from a typical menu excellent with a good choice of wines. International breakfast. Excellent value for money. Highly Recommendation.

By now we are 'regulars' here and even recognised fellow guests from previous stays. A warm welcome from Herr Stecher and a nice new larger room awaited our arrival.
The area is just south of the busier San Valentino and enjoys a rural outlook, even down to early morning cows etc., Our room this time was very nice and very spacious complete with Balcony and view of the mountains and Lake. Lovely place for a few days. There is good walking around here to suit all abilities and lots of wildlife to be found especially birds. Good fishing on Lago di Muta I am told.
I think the cuisine here is a very good example of local "Italian" prepared and cooked by the lady of the house. A simple 'choice' menu selected at Breakfast. Local wines are very good value. (if one cannot get good wine in Val de Venosta one is in dire straits indeed.).
We both voted the breakfasts here as some of the best of the trip for both quantity and quality.
Car parking is immediately outside and whilst there is no lift to the bedroom floors this is not a problem.
Not much to add to previous reviews. We love it and so will you.

A new area of Italy for us, just a short drive from Austria and Germany. we enjoyed the hospitality very much last visit and so determined to re visit this year.
We were not disappointed. No Balcony this time as they were full as this was a holiday period.
Dinner Menus are produced each Breakfast with multiple choices to be 'ticked'. Breakfasts are very varied from the buffet table and excellent.
Dinner is prepared by the family. It is excellent food and the accompanying Wine is good value and locally produced. (We are after all in the Val de Venosta)
Rooms are clean and services. Furniture is comfortable. Parking directly outside.
All in all a pleasant place to pass a few days walking, birding or just people watching.

We have been before several times so booking is a simple formality by eMail once our dates are known each year.
Hans Peter Stecher is a great host and offers us a warm welcome each time.
Our favourite room is usually available with a balcony overlooking the lakes and mountains. All is in impeccable order in this lovely en suite room. Comfortable bed, wardrobe and sitting area with TV. (Only used on the rare occasions use of the balcony proves inclement.)
Food is excellent. One chooses the evening meal from a small selection offered at the breakfast table each morning.
Breakfast buffet is well laid out and contains an excellent selection.
Rates are very reasonable and the local area is excellent for walking.
We look forward to our next visit which will be the 8th in a row..

I am finding it hard to say more each year but find it hard to believe we are the only English speaking guests. Perhaps there are reviews in Italian and Deutsch that I have not found?
There is little to add to my earlier reviews except to emphasise the extraordinary warm welcome we received from Hans Peter each visit. Language is a slight barrier but is soon overcome.
A perfect place for us in a typical Tirolean setting in a great area for walks. One year I must try the fishing. Next time??
As comfortable as always and it is getting harder to tear ourselves away at the end of our visit.

Am I the only English speaker on TA that stays here? Where are the other reviews?
Our fifth visit and one wonders what else there is to say about this friendly Gasthof/Albergo?
Booking as always achieved seamlessly and our arrival most welcoming. We even get the same room as before so really feel at home straightaway. The room with west facing balcony is as before spotlessly clean and on the 2nd floor (Europe) I suppose 3rd in US speak.
Food is excellent. Breakfast in buffet style with great choices of meats, cheese and yoghurt etc., Fresh coffee or tea to order.
Dinners are from a set menu presented at breakfast for the selection of your preferred option of multiple plates. Starter, Salad, Main and dessert. We have never had anything we did not enjoy fully from the lake fish to game and meat cuts. Cuisine is a happy fusion of German and Italian. Let's call it Tirolean?
One dish this time stood out in my memory and will for some time. The pasta, Spaghetti in Oil and Garlic just as it should be. A simple dish but so well done as to be worth a mention.
The kitchen is the realm of the lady of the house with husband Hans Peter being in charge 'out front' and covering both orders, waiting and reception. They make a great team. We will of course be back for more as long as we can travel.
The area is scenic with many walks so well worth a visit. The local tourist board also have scheduled day outings to various places including Switzerland and Austria.

We are becoming regular visitors to this lovely Gasthof. Booking by email can give rise to translation problems but it all works out well in the end.
We arrive in our own car and are greeted as friends by the owners. We even got our 'usual' room this visit. Nice space and west facing balcony to the lake and forests beyond. I have posted pictures of the room under earlier reviews so will restrict this time to the balcony and local scenery.
Breakfasts are buffet style. Sometimes with Egg but mainly Italian/German meats and bread with Yoghurt and jams etc., Fresh made coffee.
There is an a la Carte menu for dinner but those guests on half board are asked to choose from a set four course menu of several choices that is provided at Breakfast. The cooking is done by the lady of the house and is superb. Varied menu each day to our taste. Our stay was for four nights and we used the time to walk the mountain trails and do some birding.
We cannot wait to go back.

We are regular visitors here now after first discovering this gem some years ago on our first visit to Vinschgau.
Some English is spoken by the Host but limited by the Boss/Chef. Her cooking is excellent and all food is homemade and fresh. the wine list is comprehensive and the rooms comfortable.
We are going back again soon.

We stumbled on this place when exploring Venosta and took a room for three nights. We had no regrets. Owner managed by the family Stecher where the cooking is performed "by the Boss" according to Herr Stecher in his confirmation mail to me. There is a roomy airy Restaurant and ample car parking outside. Rooms are furnished in the style of the area and very comfortable.
Lots of walks to be taken and Mountains to explore. Views from the balcony are very nice, weather permitting, see photos, over the hills and Lake.
We are going back again in 2013.
