Some of the other reviews relate to construction or booking problems so this review is an honest review of Galini Palace now that the Hotel is fully up and running.

When we arrived at Galini Palace we were upgraded to a room with a private pool free of charge and our bags were taken care of.

The room was large and the private pool was bigger than some of the previous images suggest. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable.

The food was above the standard of what we have experienced at other All Inclusive resorts. There was a wide selection every day, lunch was particularly good and meals changed every day with dishes like Tacos, German Sausage, Gyros, Souvlaki, Tzsatsiki, the chips were 'proper' chips not fries etc etc.

The staff were friendly and attentive, the cleaner came every single day in the afternoon and she did a great job.

The main pool is huge and great for swimming, it was regularly being cleaned and looked after.

The beach is half pebble and half sand, if you like to swim in the sea then you have this on your doorstep.

Some constructive feedback:

- Drinks at lunch/dinner were sometimes a struggle, the hotel should move this to self serve for soft drinks because when busy, the food is available straight away and the staff are trying but they can't possibly get to everybody for drinks quick enough.
- Bottled water for the room, one night we were going to Balos the next day and wanted water to take with us but we were told this was extra and water was not included in All Inclusive...seems a bit unreasonable for a 5 star resort?
- At times, the pool bar was slow due to waiters covering the two maim barmen...More training/organisation needed for covering staff.

All in all though, this is a great hotel and the above is just feedback so the hotel can improve, not any reason not to book, I would book again for sure. The hotel was very quiet (which suited us) but deserves to be busier with more English guests for sure.

Thanks to all the staff for having us! Have a great summer!

We have just returned from 6nights at this hotel. First of all it is no way a 5*, it was more 3* with elements of 4*. We had a room with a private pool, the pool was falling apart, and bits of tiles and grout were on the bottom of the pool. The room was nice, air con was great, but the bed was incredibly uncomfortable, and the position of the TV is odd my partner whacked his head several times of it. The hotel did not even supply shampoo, let alone conditioner, this is a very simple expectation for a 5* hotel. The all inclusive drinks menu is rather limited for someone who is unable to drink alcohol, only 1 mocktail included otherwise you had to pay. Very limited staff on the pool bar, and often was a 10minute wait. In the evenings there is no entertainment except for the night we arrived, but otherwise not even music playing. We booked the a la carte for the one night a week it is open, to be told on the morning they had cancelled it, no apology though. The staff at reception were not very helpful, and 2 of ladies seemed very bothered if we went to ask them a question.
In the dining room every meal without fail cutlery (or even glasses or plates) were dropped several times, again not what is expected from a 5* resort. We also had to go to the bar and request drinks most of the time. Also to warn others there is no air conditioning in the restaurants but there are fans. However, during our stay the hotel was having trouble with electricity and we were either short of power in the room or in the restaurant.
The pool is lovely and the lady who cleaned our room was an absolute star but overall we would not recommend this hotel.

On arrival we were told our room was going to be a shared pool and bog the VIP room we had paid for. We tried to tell the receptionist but she said that we had to stay in this room until the next morning. To our surprise the room was actually better than the one advertised. It had steps up to our own pool. There are only 2 rooms like this in the hotel, we told the receptionist that we would stay in the room and she said oh I didn’t know what the room was like that’s why I said it was a shared pool. The staff should know which room people are getting. There was no food on arrival at gone 10pm only a sandwich and an organs juice.
The bar shuts at 11pm each night. The only entertainment we had in a week was a dj on a Thursday and a good singer on a Friday. Nothing on any other nights. The hotel is very quiet and a 15 minute walk away from a small town which has a few shops and bars. Chania is only a bus ride away about 40 minutes on the bus. This is very easy to use you get on the bus on the opposite side of the road to the hotel and then go to a bus station in Chania. Chania is a beautiful place to visit. There was apparently a market on Sunday which we were not informed about. The receptionists should be informing guests of more things to do here. The food is edible but very much the same things every lunch and evening meal. The drinks at the pool are disgusting. I think it’s something to do with the way the plastic glasses are washed as the drinks are nicer in the main bar.
There is plenty of places to get a drink of water around the hotel.
There are a few things that need upgrading or improving at this hotel but I must say we had a very nice time and the staff are friendly. We had a few meals and drinks out.
There is a small bar/ restaurant over the road opposite the supermarket and the owner there is amazing. He made us feel so welcome.
We would go back to Chania again but maybe stay in another hotel.
The maids are very friendly and come round throughout the day. You can get another key for your room so that you can leave the key in and keep the air con and fridge etc working. Both doors need to be shut to make it work.
Overall a good stay and a lovely holiday as we made friends there. Nice memories.

We was skeptical about coming here because of some of the reviews we read before booking but thought we would give it a chance.

It was absolutely beautiful so much better than the photos advertised online, the food was delish and was served all day in the pool restaurant on all inclusive including snacks & ice creams,
The cocktails was amazing we never spent a minute with a empty cup!

All of the public areas are always clean and tidy the staff was so kind and took a genuine interest in you, the spoke very fluent English let us pick songs at the bar and went out the way to make you feel welcomed.

Hotel room was absolutely spotless lovely powerful shower our room was serviced every single day with clean towels and bedding. Free AC in the room it was so hot there I couldn’t of slept without it.

there isn’t much to do locally we did catch the bus out once and went exploring, also took a boat trip out at the harbor takes about 5/10 mins to walk there across the beach & it was around €20 each and went out for stopped at a small island and had 2 stops to cool off in the sea with free snorkels and flippers to use 4/5 hours.

We got our honeymoon a lot cheaper as I think some of the reviews forced the hotel to reduce the prices along with covid. I have just looked online to book again for our 1st wedding anniversary prices have increased but I think we’ll still be back in September!

This new modern hotel is very spacious and minimalist. Rooms were large and airy, cleaned daily with daily towel replacement. The restaurant served a range of food and I suspect the offering is better when the hotel is busier. No rush for loungers by the pool and plenty of space between each pair of loungers (each had an umbrella). Pool bar served a good selection of cocktails and other drinks, with bottled water available throughout the day. Staff were extremely friendly, polite and professional - nothing was too much of an ask. I felt extremely safe during my trip (single, female, 20s) and was not bothered by any member of staff. The team on reception were very knowledgable and helpful, arranging a private transfer from the airport to the hotel.

This trip was booked last minute and I would recommend booking directly with the hotel for the best price. Gym is well equipped and the indoor pool is also a reasonable size.

No evening entertainment however that suited me fine - again, I suspect this will be a feature during peak seasons.

The hotel has a main restaurant, another restaurant where lunch was served, pool bar, reception bar, outdoor rooftop bar seating area (for the reception bar) and a pool table.

I would like to thank all the staff for such a pleasant visit.

Our vacation in this hotel already twice as a family with a child, a room with a private pool. The hotel is new, nice modern minimalist design, clean rooms, big main pool but we didn't use it this year. We sunbathed mostly by our pool or by the sea. The beach is deserted, the beautiful sea, the stone entrance to the sea, but the sand is a little deeper. There are sun loungers, but they are paid. The main pool has certain sun loungers with awnings, last year they were available to everyone, this year for a fee. Also, last year beach towels were available to everyone, but we had our own, this year I didn’t take them, because I remembered that they were, but this year they turned out to be paid. Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the main restaurant. The food is very tasty, varied, there is meat and poultry, and fish, seafood every day, a lot of vegetables, delicious pizza. Delicious wine, champagne. Special thanks for desserts, in ordinary life I don’t eat sweets, but here every day with pleasure. The child liked the ice cream. The breakfast is European, it is very good that there was porridge every day for the child. You can visit the a la carte restaurant, but we did not go because of the child. Within a 10-minute walk there are restaurants and shops, you can walk along the beach. The staff is very friendly and any request will be fulfilled quickly. We have received many compliments from the hotel. Upon arrival, a bottle of wine and champagne, a plate of sweets and fruits were waiting for us. We had a late check out and the room was extended until the evening for free, also as a compliment free transfer to / from the airport. Went to the spa and really enjoyed the massage. The hotel is for a relaxing holiday, there is no active animation, in the morning for breakfast once a week a saxophonist plays beautifully, once a week there is live music in the evening. Once there was a pool party, music and a DJ. Our room was close so we could listen to music and dance right by our pool. We really liked it, we would like more such musical evenings. They saw us off as dear guests, the hotel managers, it was very pleasant. It is very noticeable that the hotel tries very hard and is interested in every guest. Since we are vacationing with a child with special needs, it was very important for us that she was comfortable, and the hotel met our expectations. We want to come back a third time. I would like to say many thanks to the hotel.

At the price we payed we expected more, hotel is pretty new so grounds are still in good shape. It's impossible to close the room doors in silence so banging doors all day. Our room had a dividing in door with the room next door wich did not stop any noise we could here everything (yes everything, bathroom/bed noises) wich was not fun at all. Pools are pretty cold
Hotel is fairly understaffed, only 1 person in the bar and we almost had to get our own suitcase when leaving as they could not reach the bellboy, although he is a great guy that drives you around where you want in his golfcart.
Drinks are about the worst I had anywere in the world, liquor is mostly water, beer is drinkable, don't even try the wine as it is disguisting. I mostly drank ouzo during our stay and we bought some wine in the supermarktet.
There nearly is any beach with about 10 chairs with some umbrullas that look as if they washed up from the sea.
Staff is trying very hard and most of them are very friendly, food is pretty good especially breakfast (exept the dry omlets and greasy eggs).
The pizza's are really really good, I almost ate them every day.
The a-la-carte is a big waste of time food is horrible we went to the buffet afterwards
I do not find this a 5 star hotel so do not pay 5 star prices!

So many ants. So many unnecessary charges like safe deposit box, sunbed and parasol at the beach, pool towels. The buffet restaurant is too hot as the roof is only a retractable pvc. Coffee machine and juice machine at the buffet is always broken. Drinks during dinner is being served but have to wait ages to get you served. We always feel dehydrated and even water is so precious. Cocktails are like fruit juices can't even taste alcohol only syrup too sweet. Pool bar's inclusive snacks and drinks are terrible. Bed is basic it's like a cheap spring basic mattress. Pillow is good and the shower is good too. Area is too far from Chania and very isolated. Reception and restaurant is too far from the villas/rooms its in a separate building and had to walk and cross the long lawn to reach the main building. Not a lot of shady area. Arrival experience was terrible! My friend and her family of 4 were allocated at a 3 bedded room. They had to deliver an extra portable bed and a mattress on the 2nd night. Awful experience, we felt like we just wasted our money.
Plus side: a big pool with magnificent view
Receptionist called Anastasia always helpful and smiling.
We have been bitten by ants everywhere. A la Carte restaurant only runs once a week and food not a very good option. My daughter has a nut allergy and i have informed them, although they served her the starter and mains a nut free but one of the female staff gave her a dessert ice cream full of nuts good thing I checked. Or she could have had an anaphylaxis reaction. Staff should be careful and aware of their guest's diet/allergies. This is our 5th 5 star all inclusives holiday and all previous ones met all our expectations even exceeded, but this one is a waste of money. Not even an entertainment around. The beach is empty and no water sports. You have to go somewhere to do the water sports. I don't normally write reviews especially negative ones but this time I had to.

Dear Guest. Αllow us to say that it saddens us to read about your disappointing experience. We consider all guest comments to be of utmost importance, and thus, we would like to address your points: Regarding ants , kindly note that during this period of the season there are many ants on the island in general. We did spray to prevent them from coming again but they can always come back driven by the smell of food. Kindly note that ants do not bite. The coffee machine in our restaurant was never broken or out of order during the whole season, just needs a 5-10 minutes refill depending the usage. Regarding the service of the restaurant we follow the below steps for all of our customers in order to seve them and avoid any delays. After the entrance of the guests we serve to the guests mineral bottle of water and we receive the orders for the drinks. As it i s a buffet restaurant till you make your choices your drinks are already on the table,of course it takes some time to serve all the guests but if you would like not to wait we have a bar at the restaurant where you could get your drinks without any delays. As far as the snacks and beverage menu, we are very surprised that with the numerous choices provided, you left unhappy. Specifically about the drinks, we choose to support local businesses and brands and maybe that's the reason you weren't familiar with the taste. Avout the allergy feedback we would like to inform you that we do not have as a desert ice cream with nuts,The desert that we provide to the guests is orange pie with vanilla ice cream which not contains nuts at all. However, we hope to have the chance to create a better culinary experience on your next visit. Please do not hesitate to contact us in advance if you are considering booking with us in the future, so we can make all amends needed to guarantee an enjoyable stay. Kind regards, Galini Palace management team

We stayed two weeks in the Galini Palace Hotel and had a lovely time there. We were in a room with private pool, which are located right next to the public pool. Some days we chose to chill by the public pool and other days we decided to relax by our private pool. To have that choice is very nice. There were more than enough sunbeds by the public pool though, so there wasn't any struggle of finding available sunbeds.

The room was very nice and spacious, exactly like the pictures show. It got cleaned everyday by housekeeping. It was a super nice lady and she did an amazing job every day. The private pool was actually a bit bigger than we expected and it's a lovely pool to just relax in, without being disturbed by anyone. Maybe it would have been nice to add any ironing equipment to the rooms.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner were very good as well. Breakfast usually had the same options, lunch and dinner varied each day, so you always had something different to eat. Every day there were some Greek dishes and some international dishes. There's also the option to get a pizza or pasta, which you may choose your own ingredients for. Food was self-service and drinks were being served by the staff.
The waiters in the restaurants were very nice and 'human'. Not the over-professional feel. Sometimes it took a bit of time before we got served our drinks, although there was the option to just go to the small bar in the restaurant and ask for it. The only real downside we found here is that the plates weren't always the cleanest, it was sometimes a struggle to find a clean plate. This is something that can be fixed easily in our opinion and it's quite important.

The location of the hotel is decent, it's a very calm area so you can really relax here. It's also right next to the beach, which isn't the most beautiful beach you'll have ever seen, but it's a beach. There is not much to do or see in Kolymbari, but it is quite handy that there's a supermarket just 5 minutes walking from the hotel.

Chania is a nice city to visit, we went there by taxi, which the hotel arranged for us.
We also rent a car for one day, to visit the beach of Elafonisi. We arranged this also via the hotel. The car was dropped off and picked up again at the hotel, which was very nice.

If you go sightseeing for a day, you have the possibility to take a lunch box from the hotel, you'll have to let it know the day before.

All in all it was a very nice stay and we would highly recommend choosing this hotel. If the plates issue gets fixed there are really no big issues in our opinion.

Firstly this is not a 5* hotel!

We stayed in a room with a private pool which was fabulous, the pool area is also fab, hotel as a whole is very clean, well maintained and modern.

This is definitely not a 5* hotel when it comes to all inclusive drink and food options.

Most 5* hotels I’ve been lucky enough to stay at have numerous restaurants on site with lots of different options and many have freshly cooked food to order which Galini does not, it has one Al a carte restaurant which during our stay was opened on the Friday. On the whole food was ok but basic and repetitive … we ended going out most evenings for dinner.

All inclusive Drinks are also very limited, we overheard one of bar staff telling a colleague that he shouldn’t fill the glass to the top whilst pouring a lager. I asked for a bottle of water and was told that was extra cost, you only get 2 coffee pods per day.

This area is generally quiet a few good restaurants in the main town on the beach front which about a 5 min walk from the hotel.
Beach is not the best, but the sea very clear and blue.

Overall this hotel has the makings of being excellent but the AI aspects needs serious attention!

We had a lovely relaxing holiday and didn’t let the down points mentioned above damped our stay.

Hotel ridiculously overpriced!
