We have just returned from a lovely week here and definitely recommend a visit. All COVID guidelines are in place with all staff consistently wearing masks and hand sanitiser is readily available. Felt safe at all times.
The staff are very welcoming and work tirelessly making sure everyone is catered for. Food is plentiful and of good quality, not the usual repetitive fayre usually on offer on all inclusive!
I also recommend the Olive Oil night as the food was exceptional.
The main pool is excellent, a good length for a decent swim and also a good temperature.
Our room was a suite with a sea view and did not disappoint. Bed was comfortable and my husband requested a softer mattress and it was quickly replaced.
Our only gripe was the sun beds and this is the only thing to prevent 5 stars. The lower floor from us had sun beds immediately in front (they paid extra for these). On the opposite side of the pool was a further row of beds but people (who were staying In other parts of the hotel (with their own sun beds!)) would lay out towels the night before or get up very early and leave them there, often for significant periods of time without using them. This was very frustrating especially as on one day the sun beds from the beach has to be removed due to a high sea, leaving ourselves and others with no where to bathe. I do think this is something that needs to be addressed as it did add some stress on a couple of days.
Overall a very pleasant week in a lovely place.

Visited this hotel for a quick week away. Couldn’t have been more pleased. Location is a quiet fishing village with a few supermarkets and restaurants. The hotel is a low rise building of 2 storeys, beach front. We booked a sea view, shared pool room, could not be happier with its location. Room itself was kept exceptionally clean by very hard working chamber maids. Towels were replaced twice a day if used. Have stayed in 5 star hotels where this is not done. From the moment we arrived all staff were immensely friendly and helpful and could not do enough to make u you our stay as comfortable as possible. Food was plentiful, fresh and served in the main restaurant which had a beautiful open terrace onto the beach. It does have a small inside eating area but due to the fantastic weather this was not used. It also has an a la carte restaurant- which had an upgraded menu, the drinks are chargeable and had a great bottle of red wine which was recommended to us by the waiter. The hotel did everything possible to keep you and the staff COVID-19 secure. So there were gloves which you needed to use for all touch point surfaces in the restaurant as it was all self service and masks needed to be worn. All guests adhered to this which was fantastic. Would recommend during your stay to use one of the local restaurants for a night out. Hotel were constantly asking if there was anything they could do to improve and they genuinely meant this, Would recommended this hotel to anyone who wants a low key, quiet hotel, if you are looking for late nights or night life this hotel would not be for you.

Finally a thank you to everyone at the hotel for a wonderful week away in the sun

We went here 2 weeks ago for a last minute break after having to cancel our 30th wedding anniversary to Barbados in April. So that We did it was amazing.
As others have said it's the staff that male it. They are all so helpful and friendly, nothing too much trouble, despite that they all had to work so hard while wearing masks in the heat.
Although it was hot the breeze from the sea makes it so bearable and the views that we had both from our balcony and eating our meals outside the restaurants are fantastic. As was the all inclusive food. Lots of selection.
Top tip for beach, take swim shoes as apart from pebbles there's bit of a drop so lots of people struggling to stand in waves.
Would definitely recommend paying for a sea view too.
Rooms are kept very clean, cleaned daily and thoroughly every 3 days. Fresh towels pretty much every day and you can get fresh pool towels by leaving dirty ones in bathroom though they seem to Chang twice a week any way.
It says tea/coffee making in rooms but I found had to ask, though this wasn't a problem and brought Immediately.
There are just about 78 rooms which felt very friendly and cosy and a few nice tavernas close by for a change from all inclusive.
We would definitely go here again.
Thank you to your wonderful staff for such a great stay. 😊

Firstly, I would like to agree with the most recent reviews. The staff at the hotel are very friendly, attentive and on hand during breakfast, lunch and dinner, and most of them do the job with a smile on their face and appear happy!
The hotel itself, I think was a 4* at one point, but it needs a refurb to get it back up to that standard. We had a junior suite with sea view, which was a large room but a tired room. The curtains were marked and stained, the room was just a bit dull and needs a ‘freshen up’. The cleaners come twice a day, the second time just to check towels etc, but I do not think they ever do a ‘deep clean’. When we checked in to our room, there was an old face mask under one of the chairs which much have been from the previous guest.
As others have said, the food is okay, but not much variety. For the ‘cooked food in front of you’ it is pork with pitta every day (7 nights) and then the other options are the usual buffet style pasta etc. They have minimal evening entertainment, and what they do have such as ‘Olive Oil night’ you have to pay extra for (not that we were informed of that until checkout). This is not something I expected from a 4* all inclusive, with “all inclusive” being the key words! The food was good for this event though, but it is shame it was dampened by not being informed in advance of the cost. This seems to be a trend, as you also have to pay for drinks on some occasions, the safety deposit box has a cost (even though on the hotel app it says it is complimentary)… so lots of hidden extras.
The WiFi works fine around the hotel lobby and pool, but it very intermittent in the rooms, but this was kind of to be expected.
One thing I think needs serious attention is the cats… I know that cats wander around at dinner, and that is something that is hard to control in hotels like this, but they also allow the cats to wander around the hotel lobby, and on 2 occasions I saw a cat using a hotel reception plant pot as it’s little tray… not great, and also definitely smelly! Reception were informed of this, but they just shrugged and allowed it to happen a second time..
Overall, it’s a quiet hotel, which is great for peace and relaxing in the sun, but it could be so much better and in our opinions didn’t quite live up to expectations.

Like many of the other guests at this hotel, this wasn’t our first choice because of the COVID pandemic. However, we couldn’t have been more delighted. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with such a warm welcome, we were made to feel important, and the staff could not do enough for us. On arrival, we were greeted with a welcoming drink, and the offer to upgrade our room to a Seaview for a very reasonable price which we accepted. Our room was cleaned very regularly, the view of the sea was absolutely amazing, and we have rarely tasted better food at any other hotel that we have been to. It is well worth going to the à la cart restaurant, and also to the Olive Oil Night. Again, on both of these evenings the food and the service were amazing!
However, it is the staff that really make this place so wonderful. Special mention has to go to Jorges in the bar, to Alex, for ensuring that we were happy each and every day, to the people who served the food in the restaurant, plus the people who came and served us our drinks as we relaxed our sunbeds. The COVID pandemic is taken very seriously at this hotel. All the staff wear face coverings at all times and there are many places to sanitise your hands. However, this did not in any way interfere with the enjoyment of the holiday.
To conclude, this was a wonderful relaxing holiday, and just what we needed. It is definitely somewhere that we would consider returning to sometime in the future.

Stayed here at the beginning of October 2021.
First of all the staff are fantastic and should be applauded.( really fantastic )
Room 126 overlooking the pool was large and clean.
The house keeping was good, cleaning your room twice a day.
The food was just ok its only ok because every dish was luck warm and when you sit outside to eat after two minutes its cold. The variety was pretty good for all inclusive.
The olive oil night was pretty good and tasty. The a la carte was also pretty good.
The sun beds wasn't a problem getting one either by the pool or beach.
The snorkelling was also good.
The worst part of the holiday was the soft drinks they are terrible from the pool bar and bar inside the hotel. You get a proper bottle of Pepsi etc only at dinner but otherwise its bad from the dispensers, it was that bad we bought our own from the supermarket.
The hotel is very clean and when you go to the buffet you need to wear gloves and a mask ( but not if you are German they did what they wanted and very rude when approached to wear masks and gloves and don't queue just pushed in )
WIFI is terrible in room 126 we did complain but for approx. 8 days we couldn't get no WIFI in that room. It was ok around the hotel and pool.
All in All in was a nice relaxing break.
But the things mentioned above need addressing to make this a 4 star hotel.

The localization of the hotel is a bull's eye: in a small town, right at the seaside with a stunning views. Local shops and tavernas are within the range of few minutes walk from the hotel.
Giannoulis - Grand Bay Beach Resort is bijou, quiet and cosy. Their staff are polite, hard-working and helpful. Every day the main restaurant offers a wide range of delicious dishes, snacks and splendid desserts. We did not feel any need to have a meal at a'la carte restaurant (but I assume it also would be delightful). There was a kettle and a coffee machine in our room that provided a comfort of having an espresso or a cup of tea whenever you crave for it. We had a room with a private pool access and sunbeds– in my opinion, it was worth paying extra for. In general, the hotel is perfect for adults seeking for piece, quiet and relaxation. The only thing the hotel should improve is cleaning; the cleaning ladies should clean the floors, toilets and do the dusting thoroughly.

We were having rest at this hotel from October 1 to October 14, 2021.
Clear, warm sea, private beach, swimming pool. There were always free umbrellas and sun loungers.
Excellent room (# 327), large and comfortable, frontal sea view. Very nice.
The room was cleaned regularly and towels were changed.
Hot and cold water was always available in the room, you can take a shower at any time.
Excellent food, varied, high quality and tasty.
Thank you Mr Spyros Krasadakis, our holiday took place largely thanks to you! and your present was delicious and enjoyable!
Separately, we would like to thank all the staff especially at the restaurant and at the reception! They are very kind and pleasant people who always help.
This is not the first time we have rest in this hotel and come back here again and again.
Thank you Amalia, it is very nice that we are remembered and welcomed like at home, thanks to Georgia and Sarantos, the restaurant is always at the highest level!
Perhaps we forgot to write something, but overall we liked everything.
Thank you for a wonderful rest Grand Bay Beach Resort !!!
We really hope to come back again

We spent a week at Grand Bay for our honeymoon in October of 2018. Had absolutely zero issues with booking/reservations like it seems other people who have written reviews have. The hotel itself isn't the most luxurious I've ever been to, but it was completely adequate and exactly what we wanted. Weather was a little chilly so we weren't able to enjoy the Mediterranean and swimming pools as much as we would have wanted to, but that obviously is because of the time of year we were there.

The food was great. There weren't multiple restaurants on site to choose from like other all-inclusive resorts typically have, but the buffet style meals were great and had a lot of variety. All the different bar locations were great as well.

The hotel overall could use some updates as far as aesthetics go, but nothing to keep me from going back.

The best part of the hotel was the staff. Absolutely amazing workers who worked extremely hard and were always friendly and attentive to anything we needed.Alex at the front desk was amazing and extremely helpful and polite.

Would definitely recommend this hotel to any newlyweds who want to get away to a nice quiet relaxing place with no children and good value for the money. Make sure you get on a bus and check out Chania at least one day!

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at The Grand Bay Beach, we have never been to Crete before so we were unsure what to expect. We had booked for a Seafront Junior Suite which had fantastic views overlooking the pool and beach, the room was a good size with a lovely balcony and air conditioning. All staff from housekeepers, kitchen staff, waiters and bar staff were incredibly hard working, our room was cleaned twice a day to a very high standard. All meals served at this hotel were wonderful, so much to choose from, we went to the Al a carte restaurant and we were so impressed with the quality of food. Meals are enjoyed with fantastic views over the crisp blue waters of the bay and beach, simply stunning, the dress code is not as strict as it states on the hotel website, it is much more casual, relaxed but still smart. The pool bar is nice to enjoy a drink in the day and the main is open in the evening where entertainment is available on some evenings. The beach is clean and is easy to access the sea, be sure to take aqua shoes as this makes it more comfortable walking on the small pebbles and swimming in the sea. The local bus to Chania stops right outside the hotel. Huge thanks to Zoe at lunch and dinner and also to George who serves in the main bar and makes the most amazing Pina Coladas. One slight criticism would be the loungers on the beach, they certainly need updating as they are uncomfortable and look really ragged. We will certainly stay at this wonderful hotel again.
