Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a completely unforgettable experience at this place with a large group of people. An ex-koshuis converted into a nature-oriented experience that beggers belief. Super affordable and serene. Will be back as soon as physically possible! x

Janet & Rusty makes the stay at the Eco Lodge an unforgettable experience and a memory to last for ever. All the bedrooms have beautiful views and the garden is well looked after. The Lodge is only a block away from the well known Greyton Market.

Spent 2 weeks in Greyton for work and had the pleasure of staying at EcoLodge. If you looking for 5 star, look further. But you will be hard pressed to get the relaxing environment that is offered at EcoLodge. Up against the fynbos and mountains, zero traffic noise. In the afternoons easy to grab your camera and take a stroll, or hike into the veld, or just relax outside. Fully equipped large kitchen, and communal bathrooms kept clean and. The shops and anything else is within easy walking distance. Ideal for large or small groups. Thank you Janet. Will be back someday.

Very reasonably priced and great value for money. Great farm style breakfast too (need to book). Close to center of town and friendly people. Will definitely go back. Can accommodate bigger groups of people too.

The Lodge is an old school dorm set in Park Street on the edge of the Nature reserve with spectacular views of the mountain. The accomodation is basic but comfortable and value for money . Ideal for both groups or individuals wanting to find a space of peace and tranqullity in the Overberg. Greeted by Pepsi the dog and two residents cats , friendly , helpful management the space allows for a getaway from the city in a relaxed atmopshere. Easy access to the Nature reserve with many walks into the mountain , some mountain bike trails . Greyton itself offers a Microbrewery with great craft beer , a few good coffee shops and restaurants to suit your taste . Best at the Ecolodge is the view towards the mountain - book room 13 ( with a balcony ) and sit back with a glass of wine .

Old school charm. We were a group of 18 pax and from checkin in to leaving the next morning for our hike, Janet was amazing. Best hostess/ manager. The dinner was lekker and the fact that we can use the old piano was great. we had so much fun. Remember this is a budget hotel so do not expect 5 star bedding and rooms. Thank you so much. See you soon.

I stayed in room 10. It was peaceful and calming staying here for two weeks in April while I helped to teach a Permaculture course. It was lovely to meet Janet, who was an astute and very accommodating manager. My stay was highly affordable and I would certainly come here again.

This is a very serene lodge with a fantastic location , the mountain air and views are superb. However the staff are overly protective of their ancestral terrain. The management have placed signs up telling people "quiet time is between 10pm-8am" However they don't enforce this policy leaving guests to fight each other for peace.

Response from greytonecolodge, Manager at Greyton EcoLodge

Thank you for your feedback Marc Caplan and I am sorry that you felt the need to fight for peace and assaulted a woman in our kitchen. You were advised that a large group would be arriving and offered a quiet private room, at the same reduced cost of a dorm as you had been paying, and you refused the offer. I sincerely hope you find a quiet peaceful place where you can recover from your chronic fatigue syndrome, perhaps a backpackers/hostel, however affordable, is not the appropriate environment. Best regards Janet Manager
