I only stayed a night and this did not do justice to the wonderful building and hosts. Splendid lounge and oh so comfortable a bed. So comfortable I slept through the earthquake on 14 November. And only an hour from Christchurch this is a much better alternative than a hotel. Scrumptious breakfast. A place worth staying again. Now I must... More

Stayed here for three nights at the start of our holiday, then again for another two prior to leaving NZ, it has good quick ( 35 mins ) access to Christchurch Airport. Our host welcomed us with a cuppa in front of an open fire on a cool wet night. The Rose room proved to be warm and comfortable and... More

This former school and convent is simply gorgeous. Not only does it look good on the outside, it is beautiful inside too. The lounge especially is stunning with its open fireplace and lovely furniture. The bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and stylish also. Breakfast was wonderful. I had a cooked breakfast. Stayed here for 2 nights in the rose room. Comfortable bed and cosy on a cold night. Looked out over the garden. Part of an big old historic house. Lovely guest sitting room complete with wood fire and comfy lounges. Nice walk nearby and short drive to Rakaia Gorge. Very welcoming and friendly hosts Sue & Gavin. Would recommend.

We stayed at this place on the way to Mt Cook, and am so glad we did. It is a little isolated, and had only 2 pubs to eat nearby, which were very quaint and had only locals, which was great. But the guesthouse itself is a hidden gem. Once a catholic convent and school, it is packed with original... More

Great building with beautiful gardens. Sue and Gavin were great host and cooked us a wonderful breakfast. Large lounge room for sitting and having a wine in front of the fire place. Perfect for a weekend away and only a short drive from Christchurch.
