Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a lovely authentic village property set in a beautiful courtyard. This was my third visit having been with friends and family before, and will definitely go again. The local village which is an easy walk, has a few shops, restaurants and bars and some local history to view. The owner Alan is very accommodating and helped with information and ideas for days out. Chania the lovely Venetian port is worth a trip, as is the local sandy beach just a short distance down hill with plenty of beachside restaurants with fresh local produce. An ideal location for warm weather an attractive village location and all the amenities you would want in a cottage type setting with a lovely private courtyard.

Amazing setting, with an authentic Greek feel about it. Everything was spotlessly clean and well appointed. Lovely quiet location, with an easy walk to amenities. Alan, the owner, couldn't do enough for us, and was able to advise on restaurants, beaches etc. We had a wonderful time and have already rebooked for next year.

My family and I stayed in Gavalohori, Crete for three weeks at the Olive Pickers House. I found the owner very helpful, the house was great and the village very pretty. The house also has a private courtyard for breakfast and meals. We were very satisfied and will be back again next year.

My husband and I had the most wonderful relaxing time at the Olive pickers house with friends who stayed at the Wine Press.
Rarely will you find such a little gem in which to holiday and rarer still will you find such lovely hosts.
The property offers a unique place to stay in a traditional Greek setting and is also fully equipped to allow modern comfort and connectivity. The village of Gavalahori is a short 5 minute walk and has some great restaurants as well as local shops equipped with everything you might need. There are several top quality beaches nearby and Chania is an easy bus trip away. We had a fantastic week and we plan to return again soon.
