Popped in for Saturday lunch on the off-chance of a bar meal. The menu was such that I expected good home made food & I certainly wasn't disappointed. (When there's a long list on a menu you suspect 'plastic food'! But definitely not the case here!) It was a quiet day, the open fire was warm & welcoming, the pub...

We were staying at a holiday cottage in Sleights in December and visited The Plough Inn the first evening of our stay just for a drink. We were pleasantly suprised that we could take our dog in in the bar area. We returned the following evening and had a meal. There was an offer including a bottle of wine which...

We went to the Plough this afternoon for lunch with my grandparents. They were fab. The barman was ever so friendly and was wonderful with my grandad who is blind in one ear and slightly deaf. They catered to our requests (gave my grandad mash and my husband Stilton on his burger). We felt so welcome. Food was a really...

Visited after staying locally for a weekend. Plenty of atmosphere and (apparently) a good selection of beers but the most of the food was piled high - mostly with chips - and the curry and pork stroganoff were very average. Pleasant staff and would go back but only for a drink if staying locally.

We stayed in a cottage in the village. We walked here as the nearest spot. It looks a bit dated from the internet and the outside, but I'm glad we didn't pre judge it. It was a lovely pub/restaurant, very friendly, despite being togged up as walkers, we were welcomed royally and enjoyed playing cards until our food arrived. Oh...

Excellent Beer, Excellent Food, Reasonable prices, Good Company, Dog Friendly and a Quiz what more can you ask for? Well worth visiting whether you are in the Whitby area or not. The Pub is easy to find and has a good carpark.
