Spacious rooms overlooking either the lake or the pool (which has a pool bar). Friendly and responsive staff. Great place for not only adults, but also kids. Wide open beach, with clean sand. Kate and Russel were incredibly warm and welcoming. We can't wait to get back and try out the tower rooms!
Impressive Kastle in picturesque surroundings. The only resort in the bay. Expansive beach and clear lake water. Large rooms - though very hot at this time of year. Rooms were not serviced during our stay. Laundry can be done if required. Excellent cuisine. Staff friendly and helpful. Wonderful stay for family groups.
Our family stayed at Kachere Kastle in December 2020, and we had an amazing time. We stayed in a family room, with two large bedrooms and two bathrooms. The rooms were spacious, and the beds were great (proper frames and great mattresses/pillows). The beach, situated along side a local fishing village, is beautiful. We enjoyed walking on the beach, swimming and kayaking in the lake, and lounging by/in the pool. Kate and Russell and their staff did a great job of personalizing our visit. They arranged a scavenger hunt for the kids; a snorkeling trip; and, a movie on the roof of the castle, under the stars! And we can’t end this review without mentioning the food… We have lived in Malawi for the last six years, and hands-down the food at Kachere Kastle is the best food you’ll find anywhere in Malawi (and the mixed drinks are right up there too). We will definitely return to Kachere!…
We love Kachere Kastle. It sounds a little hoaky from the name and the pictures on the website, but actually it is very intimate, pleasant, and with a fantastic little stretch of beach in untouched Malawi. The waves at Lake Malawi here make you feel like you are at the ocean. The rooms are super nice without being ostentatious, great mosquito nets, all around a little pool. They have windsurfs for the non-windy season and we played with their boogie board. Food is delicious and the place is a great stay. It is a bit of a trek from Lilongwe (4 and a half hours if you take the direct road) but well worth the trip. It is a bit pricey, especially for Malawi, but a great treat. We have gone twice already!
My daughter and I spent a wonderful few days at the Kastle! Special spot with attention to detail from all staff and the mangers. Food was excellent and varied. Yummy to find my favourite Vietnamese Bun Cha in rural Malawi. Camping spot is in a grove of bamboo which is protective. Gorgeous views while you cook. Thanks so much to Mike and Linda for treating us like Queens in the Kastle
