We spent two very relaxed nights at the hotel and ate there all the time. The room was harming with a small outdoor veranda and pool and the grounds of the hotel were lovely. Food at the restaurant was fantastic, breakfast on both days were superb, when we arrived before normal check in time they produced two delightful salads, Saturday...

Indeed, the Plein Soleil experience must at all times out weigh the effort of getting to this gorgeous establishment. The best route is still a rocky, bumpy ride. Brace yourself and your rental for partly paved, unlit, narrow roads with overhanging branches and the terror of on coming vehicles. If it's your first time on the island's interior secondary roads,...

Spent a week at Plein Soleil. Once we figured out the road to get there (interesting even by island standards) the stay was great. Staff is helpful and solicitous and gourmet restaurant was nice for breakfast and three different evening meals. Dinners were a bit pricey. Would give five stars if they would repave the road.

Bumpy on the undercarriage getting there off the main road by my, is it worth it. Set in a sea of bananas with views to captivate. They offer an excellent prix fixe lunch and equal service. Wish I'd been staying there.

Located on top of a beautiful hill, which requires an adventerous little drive. Beautiful and spacious rooms make your stay more than wonderful. When you stay in a suite you are able to enjoy a very nice private terrace with a small private pool which is perfect when you just want to relax and stay at the hotel. The breakfast...

We spent a few nights in Hotel Plein Soleil in January 2015 as part of a Caribbean/central America trip and unfortunately Martinique didn't impress us quite as much as we'd hoped. The hotel is nice. It is difficult to get to with pretty awful roads. This is just a fact. It's a bit of a trade off staying somewhere like...

Really nice place with friendly staff. The place is though literally in the middle of nowhere, in between banana plantations, so you need a rental car. Breakfast yogurt amazing, and dinner better than many places in Martinique, although not creole.

We stayed for 10 days before Christmas and enjoyed the hotel a lot. Yes, it is a bit of a challenge to find initially (we arrived at night but had no problem finding it, once we followed the owner's email instructions). And yes, it is set amidst farms and the road is a bit rough and has pools of water...

Dreadful drive from the main road much more suited to a 4x4 not a small hire car. Be warned! We arrived early at 12 after a long drive but were not offered so much as a drink on arrival. We spent an hour and a half by the pool no one came to ask if we wanted anything. We then...

One of the reasons that I love Martinique, that sensual, sophisticated French Caribbean island, is that I love (Hotel) Plein Soleil. Over the years, I have watched it “grow up.” Both it and the owner, Jean Christophe, came of age in the hotel business some 17 years ago; its restaurant always refined, is now a landmark for contemporary cuisine, a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Plein Soleil is situated in the hills above of << Le francois>>, and is just 25 minutes from Martinique's Lamentin International Airport. You traverse a banana plantation to reach this chic hideaway that is equi-distance from the beaches of the south and the mountains and rain forests of the north. Far from the congested tourist zones, set amid a tropical garden and surrounded by lush vegetation, the hotel's 16 Creole and Caribbean style rooms are housed in five colourful villas. They enjoy a wonderful view of the Bay of Francois. Plein Soleil is a haven of beauty, peace and quiet. Three of these lovely villas host the Guest, the Master pool bedrooms. The Guest rooms are on the first floor with a nice sea view, and although naturally well ventilated, are equipped with air conditioning too. The Master pool are on the ground floor, they have a large bedroom with a lovely large veranda and a fully-equiped kitchen. The Master pool room has also a private swimming pool. All the rooms have a bathroom, and a king-sized bed. In both styles of accomodations, there is rustic wooden furniture and objets d'nature and a canopy of netting surrounding each bed. Two others villas house the suites. The Jardin Suites are in a single-story house and have a spacious bedroom with a large bathroom and separate commode. There is also a spacious deck with its own private pool. The Duplex suites are in the second villa. A large living room awaits you at the entrance on the first floor. It has a delightful sun-deck. On the ground floor, an inviting room welcomes you; its deleuxe bathroom opens to the terrace and its private pool. Guests can lounge around the hotel's main swimming pool with its enchanting sea view below or relax in the inn's stylish greathouse, listening to calming music or speaking with the affable owner of Plein Soleil, Jean-Christophe. Bilingual in French and English, he is always pleased to share the secrets of a sucessful stay in Martinique. Welcoming you graciously, he will make you feel that his home is your home in Martinique. The hotel restaurant awaits you in the main house and its enlarged terrace is adorned with a nice, fresh basin. Guests will be able to enjoy the thousand-and-one flavors created by our chef. He will have returned from a several months of training with Alain Ducasse, one of France's most famous chefs. The table d'hote restaurant offers a different menu each day, with a choice of two entrees (appetizers), two main courses and two desserts. ... more   less

“There are only sixteen rooms on the property so you really can't go wrong. All are dotted around the hillside and tucked right up against the wild foliage. Some have kitchen facilities, some have private pools. We stayed in the Suite Jardin with excellent a/c, private pool, espresso machine and fridge and it was just perfect!”
