Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent hotel room with a large and pretty balcony. Friendly and helpful staff that gave lots of good recommendations on places to visit. Location was perfect for the beach and shops near the port but quite a long walk from the main town if you want to go out.

We stayed in Galini hotel in September 2019 for 1 week. We couldn't recommend the hotel enough. We were collected from the Port. The staff are wonderful, so helpful and kind. Our four year old son was with us and the staff were so patient and kind with him. He fell in love with the resident cat JJ. Our room was a great size and so clean. Everything we needed was there. The gardens are beautiful, so peaceful. The hotel is very close to the Port beach and a five minute walk to the port, shops and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again and we hope to do so next year. Highly recommend it.

This was a nice find for a good value close to the port. The owners were very helpful. It had all the basics covered, with the only downsides being a small shower and very firm mattress that wasn't the most comfortable.

We stayed in Galini in June 2019 in a room with a view right out onto the sea over looking the impeccably-kept garden. The smells would waft into our room from the beautiful flowers. Our room had a brand new bathroom with a big shower as well as a fridge and supplies for making coffee/tea. When we'd head out for the day it was such a treat to come home to Galini where our room would be sparkling clean. The staff were always friendly and helpful and picked us up from the port as we arrived late at night. The hotel is literally a 60 second walk to the unspoilt Yialos beach as well as a five minute walk to the port and all its restaurants. Since my visit I have been to other hotels in different places and all pale by comparison to Galini in Ios. I cannot wait to make a return visit.

We picked Galini as it was so cheap and we needed to spend one night in Ios just for a stop off between ferries. My husband and I stayed here with friends and were disappointed we were only here for one night. Bernice greeted us when we arrived and gave us useful information about the island and showed us to our rooms which were basic but clean and comfortable. The Galini is a short walk from the port and the lovely sandy Yialos Beach. We spent our one evening catching the bus as recommended by Bernice into town and walking up to see the beautiful sunset. We had a reasonably priced breakfast in the courtyard the next morning before setting off to the port, even though we didn’t want to leave so soon. My husband and I are now looking forward to returning to Ios this September as we have booked to stay at Galini.....for a week this time!

We stayed here for five very peaceful nights. Set in its own shaded garden away from the Yialos beach, this pension was an amazing find. The owners were friendly, the room spotless and we had clean towels every day. It was a very easy 10 min walk from the port, shops, restaurants and an amazing bakery. iOS can be explored by bus and foot but the local beach is only a 2 min walk away. We would definitely recommend this pension and will be staying there on our next visit to IOS.

Good location - just a minute from Yiorgos beach and about 5 minutes from the Port. It's about a 10-15 minute walk up some relatively "steep" steps up to the main town (Chora). Wi-Fi / Internet was stable and of good speed. Had no problems with it. Rooms were as pictured and really beautiful with a mini kitchenette and bathroom - along with a semi-private garden (shared with the room beside us). Staff were really friendly and always had a smile on their faces and willing to help us, should we have needed it.

We were picked up from the ferry from Heraklion even though it is only a short walk from the harbour. We were given the choice of two rooms and definitely ended up with the best one with a sea view over their beautiful little inner courtyard. The room we had was the first one on the left at the top of the stairs. We did not have a sink or any cooking facilities but were provided with a minimal amount of crockery and cutlery. Most importantly We did have a fridge! The room was serviced daily and we had clean towels every day and the bed linen was changed once in our 4 night stay. The Pension is well situated for beaches, tavernas and the Chora (by bus or by walking up a lot of steps!)

Set a few meters back from the beach the hotel is in a quiet road. We had a standard room which was very small. Only 1 of us could move around the room at a time and the bathroom was a really tight squeeze. That said, the room was spotlessly clean and freshly painted if rather tired. For a cheap and cheerful one night stay it was fine but would probably not want to spend an entire holiday here.
