Despite arriving late at night in a thunderstorm where there was a power outage, we were greeted by very friendly staff and shown to our bungalow by candlelight. My friend who i was travelling with had stayed here on numerous occasions and the staff warmly greeted her back. Having power restored we were able to unpack and unwind. Although basic, the traditional Balinese bungalow was clean and had comfortable beds. Thankfully the sun was shining the following morning! The spa and massage were tremendous with staff willing to provide a massage in to the early evening - just what was required after a busy day shopping and sightseeing. The bungalows are located within walking distance of central Ubud. The food at breakfast was again basic but cooked fresh and with plentiful supply of bottled water. There was a lovely little pool in the middle of the complex though we didn't have time to try it as we were only staying 2 nights. I would definitely return.

We expend four nights, in this cozy place, the service was clean, the rooms very comfortable and with good spaces.
The guest house is located near to everything and also is a nice typical Ubud street (Arjana road).

Between price and quality this is a great choice if you don't want to spend too much.

DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT A BEDBUG INFESTATION.

We were awoken in the middle of the night (3am) by bedbugs biting us! Nothing like being woken up to blood on the sheets and bugs on your person (beyond the ants already crawling around the room which we ignored). Hotel management did not even begin to understand how serious an issue this was. After removing all our belongings from the room and sitting in the hotel lobby until staff showed up we asked to speak to the manager. We were told that he was not in until 9am, after insisting, the manager was called and we informed him that we would be checking out. He genuinely did not seem to think there was an issue and did not initially offer any compensation even after we showed his staff pictures and he called me a naughty boy for asking for compensation (he was very disrespectful and did not act in a manner which conveyed hospitality or professionalism)

In addition to this the room, bathroom and hotel kitchen was dirty and we received rancid butter packs each time we ordered breakfast.

Management did not do anything about the report so the bugs are still there in the mattress. Cannot stop itching and had to launder all my clothes... plus the fear of carrying them around with me during travel and waiting for the BITES to heal. Still worried about the eggs the bugs may have laid in my backpack and clothes....

Over all I was most disappointed with how this incident was handled and am very certain nothing will be done to rectify this issue.

We stayed in Lokasari in September 2011. We booked the "Balinese Bungallow". DON'T DO THAT! The bungallow looked very nice from the outside. But inside it was very old and stale. The Bathroom was not really clean and we were not able to close all the windows by ourselves. The toilette-flush was running and noisy. So we changed the room. There are the standard room who are newer than the bungallows. We were more happy whit this room.

Breakfast was included and was quiet good. They have also a restaurant and you can eat very good there. The stuff was very friendly but a little shy.

They have free drop off and pick up from ubud center 5 times a day.

In front of the hotel is a noisy street.

All in all we had pleasant stay in lokasari.

Stayed in the 2 bedroom family suite with bathroom, hot water and airconditioning, which worked ok. Breakfast had a good choice. Great banana pancakes. Comfy beds. Not super clean but good for what you pay for. Great for a cultural experience of Bali as it is very authentic rooms.

Lokasari is a little haven from the bustle of Ubud: and if for the small taxi fare it's easy to get around. They even have a shuttle to get into and out of Ubud at certain times.

The rooms are clean, polar fleece blankets, great by basic bathroom, tv and tea making facilities. Very secure. Breakfast is simple but adequate and no one hassles you for tours.

A very good place to stay if you are planning to do a course at the Bali Centre for Artistic Creativity almost across the road. I stayed here with a grup of students and the staff were very good. The rooms were clean and the food was good although not a huge menu to compare to other major resorts. The other aspect you may want to consider if you are stayingi s getting a room as far away from the road as you can. The road is very busy outside and can be heard from the rooms at the front of the resort throughout the night. Try to get a spa room, they are at the back. We will stay here again.

Ubud is a noisy place, hidden in the jungle of inner Bali, and Lokasari is JUST off one of the merchant roads, but once inside the doorway a lot of the noise disappears. A convenient shuttle will get you into town, so don't worry about the location unless location is your thing. We appreciated the seclusion (3-5k from city center if that's what you can call the middle of a road with shops and restaurants on it) and the family bungalow. The stone-set paved pathways with vegetation, the koi-filled moat around our bungalow, the Japanese style bathing pool with poolside pagoada were all things we relished. The only downside was the open air holes above the door for gecko entry/egress (who keep the Mosquitos in check?) which kept the AC from being very effective. As parents we appreciated the separate bedroom, though...
There is a kitchenette in that style bungalow, mand dining area, though no real groceries around to make it effective? Perhaps the hotel could recommend some in coming years...
The in-house restaurant offers standard Indonesian fare; the honey fried chicken was especially tasty. Other places to stay? I'm not sure there were really any other sin the vicinity, most places ad eshops for export. Probably more in town, but they were far more expensive...

This is one of those places that looks better in the brochure than what it actually is. Whilst not totally awful, it does have some negatives as well as positives that are worth mentioning.

Positives:
Outside areas - the traditional architecture and well kept garden areas provide a nice contrast to the busy road outside.
Staff - the staff are helpful and polite and tend to leave the guests alone so if you're looking for privacy then this box gets a tick. They even dropped us off in central Ubud for free.
Cleaning service - although its not uncommon to have your room cleaned and fresh towels daily, in this price range it is either non existent or inconsistent. The cleanliness plus the staff helpfulness earn this place three stars.

Negatives:
Road noise - don't think that just because this place is not in central Ubud that it will be peaceful. The road outside the bungalows is as busy, if not busier than Monkey Forest Rd.
A/C - It's unlikely that all a/c units at this place are the same so we probably drew the short straw but the one in our room sounded like a hurricane in our room - even on the lowest setting.
Fish tank - this is a weird one, but the giant fish tank in our bungalow (that only has 2 fish in it) has a water pump that sounds like someone left the tap on. Unless you like the sound of a toilet that won't stop running then you'll need to close the bedroom door.
