I strongly recommend staying at Casa Hernandez.
Ideally located on the outskirts of Salta city, in a picturesque neighbourhood, this b&b is a realm of peace and quiet, with an enourmous backyard.
We stayed in the deluxe room, which was very spacious and well equipped. The bed is super comfy and the shower has good pressure of water and tons of hot water.
A generous and delicious breakfast is offered every morning, which is a great way to start the day.
I want to highlight the hospitality and kindness of Alex and Rijkje, owners of the B&B, who made our stay super enjoyable. Their suggestions turned out to be very useful during our trip and they made us feel at home!
Alex and Rijkje, thanks a lot! Hope we see each other again soon!

Firstly the couple that run the B&B are faultless. Friendly, helpful and have all sorts of information to assist your stay.
The room was large and comfortable and the bathroom spacious. The gardens are beautiful however the pool is in need of work if you're feeling like a dip!
Difficult to fault really and in our stay in Argentina it becomes difficult to rate one hotel against another. Was this the best place we'd stayed, no. But it certainly was good for what we required and well placed for Salta Airport.

Fabulous small B&B with personable kind hosts. A wonderful place to relax. We loved the spacious garden and the pool. Delicious breakfasts too with eggs and pancakes, tea and coffee. Thank you Alex and Rikje for welcoming us so beautifully.

Writing this review in response to the bucket loads of perfect (or near perfect) reviews that casa hernandez gets, and in the hope of offering the lovely alex and rikye something constructive, rather than simple flattery!

We stayed fo a few nights back in September, and are both unsurprised and pleased with the accolades this place gets. There is a simple reason that reviews are almost unanimously gushing, and that is that Alex and Rikye are quite simply two of the nicest, coolest, most helpful and welcoming people you could meet. they put themselves completely at your disposal, and will be your best friends while you are there. When you stay at casa hernandez their beautiful home is yours to enjoy, and enjoy it you can not fail to do.

However, it needs to be pointed out that nowhere is perfect, and on our stay we ceratinly felt that while we had a very good time, we were not completely overwhelmed as others have been. Let me list the very slight drawbacks from our stay. First, there is not a great deal going on in San Lorenzo, so whilst you can go to the bird park for a day or an afternoon, dont choose it as a base for Salta, because the irratic local bus service means that you would just be better off stayig in Salta. When you are in San Lornezo, you will want to spend time at the casa (because there is little else to do there) and bear in mind that this is Alex and Rikye's home, not a hotel, so they, the other guests, and sometimes even Alex and Rikye's own friends will be there with you, sharing time together. It is not a romantic retreat for a couple of newlyweds! Expect 'friendship', rather than 'service'. But it works to your advantage if you want to socialise and enjoy a Parilla together, I'm just saying it might not suit everyone. Finally, we picked the casa because of the pool, and when we got there the pool was empty. Alex, in his lovely manner, explained that of course nobody would ever want to swim in a pool in the winter, hence the lack of water (and acculmulatioon of leaves and other detritis). But he hadn't bargained on two hardy northern europeans who will swim in anything, even if their ice is on top, and will be sweltering as long as the sun breaks through the clouds once a day. And were looking forward to a dip in the pool, ice cold or not! For these reasons, we call casa hernandez very very good, but not perfect! And we hope Alex and Rikye will appreciate the constructive criticism, and not hold it against us. If we had any reason ever to visit San Lornezo again, it is the only place we would stay!

Alex and Rijike were amazing hosts, friendly and very helpful, giving us maps to help us along our way when travelling in our car to Cachi and Calafate.. We stayed in the garden cabin which had a little kitchen which was useful. The cabin is basic but is very realistically priced and has everything you need, plus, their lovely garden and pool was a great place to relax.

My fiancé and them, spent a few hours in the afternoon one day putting the world to right over drinks on the terrace and it's memories such as these that go to make your holiday. We have fond memories of our time with them, so if you want to be welcomed like old friends and don't want to stay in the centre of Salta, then this is definitely the place to stay.

The owners are a lovely dutch couple. They are super friendly, warm and welcoming. Go out of their way to help you. Make the breakfast themselves, and it's the best breakfast I've had in Argentina! The beds are supercomfy and the shower is great. Absolutely recommend going here. Also the town is great and they know all the good places to go to. Stayed there in november 2014.

Alex en rijkje bedankt voor alles. Jullie zijn geweldig!

What more can we say, it's already been said by so many other people. Casa Hernandez is a gem and well worthy of its number one spot on Tripadvisor. We loved it. It's quirky rooms, splendid en suite bathroom, glorious gardens and the friendly, helpful, charming hosts. Highly recommended. It's not in central Salta but in the lovely superb of San Lorenzo. 20 mins by bus or an easy car ride.

We first stayed at Casa Hernandez in 2008 not long after it first opened. We had been travelling for almost a year and it was great to stay in a place that was a home from home. At the time, we were considering setting up a B&B ourselves and were searching for a suitable property. I remember thinking at the time that Casa Hernandez was the sort of place we would aspire to run.

Alexa and Reijke welcomed us like long lost friends and once again we had a fantastic stay. These guys know how to run a B&B as it should be run and if anything, Casa Hernandez was even better the second time around. They are both so helpful to anyone staying and are mines of information on what to do, where to go etc.

Exceptional, value, great hosts, superb, well appointed rooms and a great location in San Lorenzo with easy access to Salta city. Since our last visit there have been a number of really good restaurants that have opened, making. San Lorenzo quite a foodie centre.

Hopefully it will not be another 5 years until we return again!

We had 8 days in this magic spot, from the time we arrived, with Alex meeting us at the Airport, till 8 days latter putting us back on the Plane, We had an absolute ball. Alex & Rijkje were perfect hosts, down to earth genuine people. After a long day touring the mountians, it was pleasure to arrive back home and enjoy a Social Sip or 2 with Alex and his sense of humour, Rijkje with her
sophistication, a great way to finish the day. Everything from the location, rooms, food all spot on.
Casa Hernandez, Perfect, nothing more to be said!!!

We stayed at Casa Hernandez in July. It's a very clean and homey place. Our room was warm and cozy. When we arrived Rijkje greeted us at the door with open arms and a hug. She was very professional and helpful with our vacation plans. We talked and laughed and really had a wonderful time. Alex arrived later. Also, very pleasant and some what of a jokester. There was also another Dutch couple that was staying there at the same time, they too were very pleasant and we enjoyed talking to them as well. We would definitely recommend Casa Hernandez. It's a little out if the way in San Lorenzo. But, if you are looking for quiet place to think, read and just relax this is the place for you.
