Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Greenlands is an absolute gem of a bed and breakfast. Mum and I stayed for two nights as a base to explore Swaledale and visit the wildflower meadows. From the moment we arrived we felt at home. Everything was perfect. Our room, the Hay Loft, on the first floor was bright, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Fresh milk and chilled water were always available throughout our stay and replenished regularly. The friendly hosts have thought of every single detail to make their guests feel welcome. So much care and attention has clearly been taken to cater for visitors, including facilities for muddy boots and kit. Quality WI-FI and ample USB sockets are still sadly still not universal even in larger hotel chains but Greenlands have both very well covered. We had a superb power shower in our ensuite, which walkers and cyclists would no doubt be most grateful for after a long and active day. The beds were very comfortable and the only sound to be heard from our room was the occasional sheep and the sound of birdsong. Views were spectacular and particularly at sunrise and sunset when the hillsides are bathed in golden light. You will be set up for a busy day following a Greenlands breakfast which were plentiful and very tasty, particularly the local eggs. However, should you need a picnic lunch that can also be ordered, as can evening meals.
Without question we would return and would like to send our grateful thanks to Jude, Mark and Ella for a wonderful stay.

An old country farmhouse a mile from Keld, Greenlands is modern and immaculately designed. Met by Mark who took us to a boot room with hard flooring, walking stick rack, and drying cupboard. Our room was on the ground floor - very clean and tidy with a modern bathroom and good shower. Kettle etc in room with cold milk and water available in small fridge in boot room. A nice touch. Had a beer (from a good selection of ales and wines) on the patio while playing with the dog Ella and looking over the valley at the grazing sheep.
Dinner was home cooking at it's best on a large dining table. Beautifully presented, large portions, and friendly hosts. Covid restrictions meant there was sanitizer and a plastic screen separating us from the other 2 guests.
Breakfast was the full monty and again good home cooking. Jude and Mark were friendly and chatty. Highly recommended

Well what can we say that hasn't already been said. We stayed for one night whilst doing the coast to coast. We were met by the excellent hosts Jude and Mark who were very friendly and didn't mind answering our questions about running a b&b. The b&b has its own entrance with room all you stuff, and a drying cupboard. The room was top notch, huge and very comfy bed, lovely decorated, spotlessly clean and a good hospitality tray. One great idea was the socket cubes on the bedside tables for the myriad of electronics people have today. (no firking down the backs of beds to find a socket) Lovely bathroom with a big hot shower. We were very pleasantly surprised that they had a licence and Mark delivered a large wine and a pint of Black sheep to our room, fantastic. Unlike most B&Bs' they do an evening meal, which was excellent, Lisa had the baked cod which she said was restaurant standard, I had the cottage pie which was superb as was the deserts (apple crumble and lemon cheesecake) You can sit outside in their lovely garden drinking in the views, or throw the ball for their lovely dog (sorry forgot the name) The packed lunches we good as well. All in all a fabulous place with fabulous hosts, especially seeing as they've only been doing it for about 4 years. Thanks for the best stay we had on our coast to coast, walk hands down. ( and probably ever)

We stayed here for two nights whilst my husband was walking the C2C. We received a lovely warm welcome from Mark and Jude, not to mention their slightly crazy spaniel Ella. Room was clean and comfortable (Hayloft). I was concerned about being close to the road but it was so peaceful. The evening meal we pre-booked was delicious and the drying cupboard and washing machine were a godsend to my husband.

I feel sure we’ll visit again when in Swaledale.

Mark and Jude were just lovely and made our coast to coast stay very special. They have thought through everything that you would need. The food was great and as they are fully licensed it was great to relax at the end of the day. Beautiful garden to relax in. Great place to stay.

My partner &I had a great stay here whilst walking the Herriot Way.
We arrived soaking wet & cold after tackling Shunner Fell in horrendous weather & were given a warm welcome & excellent drying facilities for our sodden kit.
Mark & Jude were great hosts & we enjoyed delicious home cooked food & a good bottle of red to wash it down with.
Our room was spotless & stylish, very comfortable & tea, coffee, biscuits provided.
Breakfast was also delicious & plentiful & so no need for a packed lunch.
I would definitely stay here again, so welcome & set amid glorious wild countryside.

We stayed at Greenlands B&B while walking the Coast to Coast Trail organised by Contours. It's a lovely setting, just a short way off the trail. Beautiful views. Very comfortable bedroom with modern ensuite. Friendly hosts. Delicious dinner. Great breakfast.

Stayed at Greenland’s whilst doing the Herriot Way as just outside Keld. Perfect location with glorious views. Hosts very welcoming and accommodating of walkers, for example having an area to store boots and poles etc, plus availability of purchasing a delicious pack lunch for the next day. We stayed in the Hayloft, very comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed here for one night while walking Herriots Way. Jude & Mark were very welcoming, and we enjoyed a cool beer outside while enjoying the views of the fells and their garden. Our room was immaculate. Evening meal and breakfast was cooked perfectly with a good choice. We ordered a packed lunch to enjoy later in the day which was just as good.
Would recommend this B&B to anyone.
