Just wanted to take the time to let everyone know of my experience. We checked in on Friday February 10th and checked out on the 12th. Our experienced was mixed but it wasn’t as horrid as others might lead you to believe. The grounds were gorgeous with plenty to do. I think this is one of the few places I...

I made the reservation via phone call; operator was very rude when I asked him what was included in a junior suite and was reluctant to help when I wanted to schedule spa services. We arrived three hours before check-in and asked if it was possible to have access to our room; we were told that there our room was...

We arrived on Dec 27, 2016 for a 3 night stay. We were using special coupons for the stay. They first assigned us to the furthest room (Room #87) from the thermal springs. I then informed them that I had an older adult with me who could not climb stairs (83 year old Mother). Subsequently, they reassigned us to Room...

The grounds, room were excellent. However, this is not a place if your legs aren't strong. Several flights of steps from the lobby, parking area to the rooms, restaurant and pools. The most disappointing was the food. Same menu for the week. The buffet of black beans & rice and plantains was modified slightly as to how the pork or...

First of all, this is a nice resort with an outstanding staff, especially the restaurant/bar folks. All the people that work there are friendly, and very helpful. The facilities are nice, although some of the rooms (i stayed in 2 different rooms, as the toilet broke in the first one), need a bit of updating. The 2nd room was extremely...

My uncle who lives in Costa Rica took me to this resort for couple nights along with few other friends. Place was neat and staff were very friendly. Besides the issue of old rooms with minimum accommodation the place is located in a spectacular mountain view with so many mineral hot water spring and gorgeous river. You need to lower...

Our room was right off the lobby. Very noisy. Only window faced offices, so no light. Beds were not very good. Everything old and worn. Our meals were included. They were all buffet style, with very limited selection and repetitive. Service was non-existent. The thermal pools are nice. Clean and several choices. The surroundings are beautiful. This could be a...

The beds are like a regular motel in San José city. No proper electricity for laptop or technology devices. Phone does not work to get room service or any communication with front desk. Place is nice and quiet, just that!

The hotel is very unique and great to relax, located in area that is away from busy streets but still easy to get to. Employees there are very polite and the food is great! If you are looking for a place to relax, swim a little, try some local cuisine this is the spot.

Comfortable room, kindly staff, good position with a very nice view from the restaurant and good breakfast. We have the reservation for the mountain and garden view, but our room was just in front to the central area, where there is the parking of all the car.

El Tucano Hotel’s main guest is Mother Nature. The hotel has 87 rooms, including two luxury suites, though the real luxury is the chance to take a bath in its thermal waters. Featuring a 500 people capacity restaurant and conference halls for 200 people, both areas are surrounded by the primary forest housing a countless variety of flora and fauna. El Tucano Hotel has one of the most complete spas in Latin America where all the visitors renew their body and soul thanks to the communion received by the gifts of nature. In its extension of almost 7 acres of land and 9000 m2 of construction are produced 80 liters of water per second flowing from the 7 springs of thermal waters. The hotel has three hot springs pools recently remodeled and a hot water river with wonderful waterfalls and natural pools (surrounded the whole property), guests can swim in and let the river take all its problems while they get renew with its powerful energy. There is also a tennis field, several trails through the forest and mini golf area, though the best activity to practice at El Tucano is relaxation while contemplating the great masterpiece that surrounds it. ... more   less
