I felt home
I stayed with my 2 children in a triple room.
The room was large and clean.
The bathroom as well.
We had a large balcony with a wonderful view on the bay.
Service was relaxed, friendly and familiar.
This place has a sort of homey feeling.
Breakfast, while not included, is available and good.
The restaurant was also nice and good.
I could have stayed much longer.

Great location, great value and great food
The beach at Triopetra is long and lovely, and the Taverna Pension Pavlos is the perfect place to stay for a lazy couple of days. We spent 5 nights there for a yoga retreat and had a delightful time. The rooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the price was right. Pavlos's son, George (I don't know how to spell the Greek version of his name), could not have been nicer and more hospitable. And extra bonus was the food - we had some of the most creative cuisine we had in Greece right here at Taverna Pavlos.

Lovely, quiet family-run hotel and tavern
We have been staying at Pavlos Place as part of a yoga retreat three years in a row now, and always enjoyed it.
The hotel is small, family-run and quietly located about 1 hour drive south of Rhethymnon (1,5 hours from Heraklion airport, 2 hours from Chania airport). There are no other hotels, shops or restaurants nearby - which makes it very relaxing, but having a rental car advisable.
The rooms are either located in the “old” part of the hotel with basic amenities or in the “new” part opened only last year with very nice, modern style. All rooms, in both parts, have air condition and insect screens. There are no TVs in the rooms, but who wants to sit in front of a TV when you can watch the sunset at the beautiful terrace, in the cozy lounge area or at the beach (150 m walk) instead? At the beach, umbrellas and sunbeds are available for free.
Service is amazingly friendly and attentive - English and, in case of Giorgos, German, are spoken (apart from Greek, obviously). There is a yoga room in one part of the building which is frequently used for retreats, however this does not impact other hotel guests.
Food is excellent and freshly made from local produce - Pavlos Place is a hotel and tavern at the same time, hence there are also people coming just for lunch or dinner while others are hotel guests. If you like a peaceful, simply but cozy place to stay, you will not be disappointed.

Unravel and go into reverse!
If you like smart, five star hotels this is not for you. However, if a family run taverna and pension overlooking the beautiful bay of Triopetra appeals with a laid back mood and little to do other than swim, walk, read, eat and drink then it might be perfect for your needs. The rooms are simple but spacious, with balconies overlooking the sea. Air conditioning, a simple bathroom and refrigerator to keep drinks chilled. No tv but good wifi. The family dog barks to wake you up in the morning, the owner goes fishing and serves his catch in the evening. It could be chargrilled seabass, bream, sardines or red mullet - with a large Greek salad and some local wine from the barrel, eaten on a paved terrace with a whispering breeze - what better? Highly recommended.

Friendly Service, Amazing view, Amenities - very basic
Pavlos Place clearly has its loyal patrons. It seems people come there year after year for the natural beauty of sunsets behind Triopetra (lovely!) and the causal, laid back feel of the hotel. Jiorgas (SP?) the son of the septuagenarian founder, Pavlo, is friendly and aims to please.
There are plenty of tables on the patio, each with a view. A shaded lunge area with sofas, and a lovely hammock with a cord so you can keep yourself in a gentle swinging pattern.
The rooms are basic - an almost too hard bed. And you get to make your own bed! But the sheets are set out for you and they are clean and crisp. The AC works great, and mosquito nets hang over the beds, though nasty mossies were not an issue during my week long stay. Water is....limited. Sometimes there was none and never was there more than a drizzle in the shower. When there was no water, I would flush the toilet (toilet paper must go in a trash can and not be flushed - due to a sensitive septic system - ick.) and wait to hear it gurgle in 15 or 20 min. The gurgle would let me know the water was flowing and I could "shower". I never really had a great shower, but i did get clean and cool.

The beach is a 2 minute walk away. Pavlos provides free umbrellas which is nice. The beach is small and not crowded at all. There are no waves to speak of which makes it nice for just hanging out on a raft or for children to play. Some small fish to see snorkling but nothing special or exciting.

Pavlos runs on the honor system. Want a Mythos beer? Get one from the fridge and add it to your room tab left on the counter. Ditto for bottle water, ice cream, and other small items.

Dress is very casual at all times. Food...looked good...but I was there for a yoga retreat and we were served a vegetarian buffet - which grew tiresome and uninteresting as the week went all.

No TV, WIFI available for free in the dining/lounge area.

Overall. I would say this is a place for those who do not mind a rustic, basic accommodation, with basic food. It would be a nice to place to escape to, but do not go looking for any pampering. It is simple but adaquate. The natural beauty was the highlight.

Total relaxation!
A beautiful place to stay - stunning location right on the beach, tucked away from the crowds, extremely relaxing. We ate in the restaurant three times a day for five days and did not get bored! Lovely Greek yoghurt, fruit and honey for breakfast or omelettes etc. The dakos which frequently had for lunch was delicious and we enjoyed having freshly caught fish for dinner most evenings - the sea bass in particular was excellent. Please note to have the freshly caught fish that day you need to pre order it at lunch time/ early afternoon other wise it is gone by the evening! We went in August and it was very windy but this didn't stop us enjoying the beach and we did have one or two 'calm' days whilst we were there. Would highly recommend.

Relaxing - amazing sunset
We stayed at Taverna Pension Pavlos for only one night during our short exploring of south Crete. The rooms were clean, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the food was very nice. The location is amazing and the sunset from the balcony is breathtaking. Very quite and easy going place ideal for relaxation.

Extremely popular accommodation
We were unable to stay at Pavlos Place as he was fully booked for the time we required. However, we did eat all of our meals at the taverna and the ambiance of the place is wonderful. The food is also wonderful and Pavlos, Giorgos and Haris are extremely welcoming and friendly. We are looking forward to being able to stay in the accommodation in the future.

home away from home
Hardly any place where you would feel more welcome, hosts have become close friends, with personal service and care and attention. The somewhat secluded location provides all that is needed, without a car you are somewhat isolated, but than issue is solvable.
