We booked a month before arriving as our original Croatia holiday on Korcula had been cancelled so we were so lucky to find Villa Lanterna had availability. We had a one bedroom apartment for us and two children which was a generous size and spotlessly clean with a balcony and sea view. Great to yacht watch every day! Whilst the decor is dated, the accommodation offers everything needed for a self catering break. The staff are friendly and attentive, nothing is too much. The restaurant next door is fabulous, and there are two others within a two minute walk, one of which does takeaway. A supermarket is a 40 minute walk away, but as you walk by the sea for much of the way it’s hardly a chore. The hotel offer a free shuttle bus there every morning if you’d prefer. The beach is also a two minute walk, aqua socks are recommended as it’s stoney but this provides the huge benefit of crystal clear water. We swam and snorkelled every day watching the fish and hired a boat, kayak & SUP from the stand on the beach at extremely reasonable prices. A superb place to escape to with the added benefit of Dubrovnik on your doorstep when you want it. Just great and exactly what we needed!

We stayed in Villa Lanterna for 7 nights, and we were thoroughly happy with our stay. From as soon as we arrived, Doris and all the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly which helped us to feel very at home. The room was air conditioned, was very clean and had everything we needed including a fridge which was very useful. The hotel is in an ideal location, just a minutes’ walk from a beautiful beach and surrounded by stunning views. Although it is not located too near to Dubrovnik, a shuttlebus is easily organised with the reception (we would recommend booking at least a day before to ensure there is space). A supermarket is within walking distance however the hotel also organises a free shuttlebus service here each morning. We were bed and breakfast and were more than happy with the food provided, as vegetarians we found it difficult to find non-meat options around Croatia but here the staff were more than happy to cater for our needs and prepared us delicious food every day. Overall, we were very happy and impressed with our stay at Villa Lanterna and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in Croatia.

Thank you to Doris and all of the staff at Villa Lanterna for making our holiday so relaxing and special!

Villa Lanterna is perfect if you are looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing. The staff are very welcoming and helpful, the breakfast was delicious. We had fruit and yoghurt every morning followed by a cooked breakfast. The restaurant which is open to the public serves authentic Croatian food. We had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the sea, which was only a short walk away.
There is a restaurant by the beach where you can hire sun loungers but these do not have cushions and are quite uncomfortable.
Our only complaint is that it was rather too quiet. The nearest shop is a good 30 minutes walk away. The hotel does run a shuttle bus each morning, but this leaves at 9 o'clock, rather early if you want a leisurely breakfast.
Dubrovnik is 20 minutes away by shuttle bus, but there is a 30 minute walk into the Old Town from the drop off point and and the pick up times are not very convenient. If you wish to spend more time there then taxis are plentiful but more expensive.
We found a couple of great restaurants within walking distance of the Villa, but there are no bars and nothing going on in the evening.
Another point worth mentioning is that the nearest money exchange is in the city, although most places take cards. However, any boat trips, taxis etc have to be paid in cash.

Villa Lanterna is on a beautiful bay about five miles north of Dubrovnik in then ring village of Stikovika. There are only a few rooms, all facing the bay and with balconies and the hotel is a peaceful place to stay. Rooms are spotless and well appointed with plenty of room. There is a three times daily hotel shuttle to/from Dubrovnik which also does a morning shopping run to the local supermarket. The staff are friendly and offer useful advice on visiting Dubrovnik and local areas. The city is worth visiting but can be manic with cruise passengers but the staff helpfully tell you when to go and when to avoid.

Family run, it feels like home from home and the attached but separate restaurant is simply wonderful. A short but varied dinner menu reflects different parts of the former Yugoslavia and offers food of the highest quality. The undoubted star is the lamb cooked under the bell which needs to be ordered the day before.

There are other restaurants around the bay just a short walk from the hotel. There is a footpath right round to the mouth of the bay and the other side of the headland offers stunning views over the Adriatic.

Overall, no complaints or faults at all and a restful alternative to bustling Dubrovnik.

We had a great week here the staff are great the food was 10 out 10 every day,its a quite area only three restaurants and a free lift ro the shops, pebble beach but the sea is nice, the room and view are perfect aswell, definitely recommend it.
The staff are great especially the owner and lady's on reception, they give you a lift to dubrovnik and back three times a day.
We went on the three island tour it cost £80 for two with food you can book it at reception.
It's a quite place but we went into dubrovnik twice, can't fault it.

We stayed at Villa Lanterna in a self catering apartment. It was situated next to the pool. The room was spotlessly clean, with towels changed every day and our beds made.
The staff here are so friendly and welcoming, with nothing being too much trouble.
The shuttle service to the shop every morning was really useful, and amazing that it's free. We also used it to go into Dubrovnik, which u pay a small fee for, a few times and bring us home. When the shuttle service time wasn't convenient to take us there, the hotel were happy to book us a taxi.
The pool was lovely, and often were had this to ourselves. My only suggestion would be to provide parasols to allow for some shade when using the pool area.
The rooms were reasonable well equipped for self catering, but could do with a few extra things to make it a little easier, such as bowls to use in the microwave, a colander, and some scissors. Also, a dustpan and brush would be helpful.
That being said, we loved our time here. The restaurant Veranda, was excellent, and again, the staff were really friendly and helpful.
The area of Stikovica is lovely, and the beach are, with it's bar and pizza restaurant is lovely.
Take beach shoes as it is a pebble beach.
We will be back.
Big thanks to Doris who was so lovely, and the chap who drove the bus and made our beds every day! All the staff were brilliant. Thank you for a lovely holiday. Hope to see you all again in the future.

One of the best places we have stayed-don't often put reviews on here but we thought it deserved a shout out!
Customer service was out of this world, Doris and all staff couldn't do enough for us both 😊
The food was gorgeous every time, mini bus to explore Dubrovnik can easily be arranged and there is a supermarket run in minibus available on a morning if needed (free) we were bed and breakfast which we recommend, even our return home we were given sandwiches so you won't go hungry here :)
Clean rooms with Aircon/safe provided and pool with hot tub feature which was fun even though the beach is just on the doorstep. The 3 islands Boat trip was organised in Less than 5 minutes by Doris picking us up by boat from outside of the hotel.
Pizza restaurant downstairs also does amazing food (pic of local beach area below)

Fabulous, thank you for a great time away and chilled holiday❤️ xx

Before booking his hotel I had researched and was well aware of the quiet area and how far from Dubrovnik it was.
My friends and I all agreed we would still book a triple room with breakfast.
The first night we settled on the pizza opposite and quickly booked seats on the bus to the supermarket. Little bottles of coke are expensive so we wanted to stock up.
It’s a short journey but well worth using this, we brought essentials.
Our room was next to the swimming pool, we were lucky as we had a terrace rather than a balcony and a kitchen area.
We used the shuttle to Dubrovnik, this drops you off and you still have to walk about 15 minutes to the old town. It is an incredible view on the way. We preferred to book just one way and taxi back, 180 kuna (about £20) which is more expensive but it just worked better for us.
I did find the prices of food and drink higher than expected, the little bottles of coke add up even though my friend and I shared.
If you want to budget I would recommend booked dinner as well as breakfast, although we did visit old town in the evening so wouldn’t have worked for us.
The hotel has beautiful views and a pebble beach, I did try to swim in the sea but found it too uneven.
The hotel can book trips, I would book my own island trip though.
Breakfast is bread plus any eggs and bacon.
It really is a fantastic place to visit.
One little thing is the shower goes from hot to cold very quickly.
The staff are amazing and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Me and my partner have just returned home from Villa Lanterna and we already miss it! The reception staff, Ivana and Doris were so incredibly lovely and accommodating, and Zoran who drives the shuttle bus was also so helpful. Straight away we felt at home. Our studio was a great size, super clean, and right by the pool. The shuttle bus service was excellent. It takes 20 minutes to get to the old town (from the drop off point it’s about a 20 minute walk). The bus takes you at 10am, 2:40pm, 7:40pm and picks you up at midnight (perfect for us to explore in the day, come back and freshen up, then go back for an evening meal). We also did all 3 excursions the hotel had on offer (same but cheaper than Jet 2)! On those days we ate locally on an evening - either at the hotel or a nearby pizzeria. The location is very quiet, with 3 restaurants and a small beach (lots of kids and families). Great base for us to go out an explore but we didn’t spend much time around the hotel as there wasn’t much for us there. Overall brilliant stay, the friendliness of the staff stood out the most and I would recommend it to anyone as a base wanting to explore Dubrovnik.

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday in this lovely, small, friendly hotel.

It is located in a small hamlet not far from Dubrovnik within a short walking distance of a beautiful cove! Beach bar with sun beds and umbrella to hire for the day at a cost of 13 Euros for 2. The nearby Pizzeria is open for lunch and evening meal and the restaurant/bar on the beach serves evening meals only from 5pm onwards.

The hotel offers a shuttle bus into Dubrovnik which you can book at reception. This cost 16 Euros return for two of us. Choose a leaving time and collection from reception. Always very helpful!
The driver was very friendly and reliable!

Our room was really lovely (although we’d booked a sea view and I hadn’t thought of all the stairs to climb)! Kept spotlessly clean with towels changed regularly. Shower was a little on the small size but very hot water! Be careful you don’t burn yourself on the tap in the shower!

We had booked Bed and Breakfast. Breakfast was buffet style and really nice with a choice of fruit, yoghurts, cereals, jam, honey, rolls, cheese and cold meats. Squash and coffee to drink. Cooked eggs were available on request. The only downside we felt (glad we didn’t book half board) was that the standard of evening meals was not very good. I am quite a good cook and felt I could have made better food myself - soups were not homemade and a lot of the food was over cooked - rice in particular. Our friends ate regularly and were also very disappointed with the quality of the food. It is very expensive to book half board so strongly feel that the food should be addressed.

Apart from the quality of the food we did enjoy our stay and would recommend this hotel as a B&B only option.

The villa offers a bus transfer 3 times a day into Dubrovnik. They also arranged a 3 Island boat trip for us. Dubrovnik is a beautiful city. The staff at lanterna are very very good and the food in the restaurant amazing.

How much do the shuttle services cost?
Answer from matscyclesurgery
Kingswinford, United Kingdom7 contributions8 helpful votes
They charge 90k for two people return or 45k one way for two people. We found that the two evening return shuttles were too limiting 8pm or midnight so on the three ocassions we went into town we went one way then used Uber for the return 98k about £12.30. Make sure if you use Uber or indeed any taxi service to walk away from the old city as everything as you would expect is premium the closer you are.
