Was told by tour operator that our hotel had been changed to Solimar only 5 days before our holiday began. We decided to go despite the change. We were glad we did as our room with private pool was superb and not overlooked. However, we were supposed to have a sea view but overlooked a scrubland area. However when speaking to a very helpful Receptionist, Ioanna, she upgraded us from silver wristbands to gold which meant we could order more variety of drinks from bar.

I give 5 star to the staff who are friendly, offer great customer service and go beyond their duties to help in any way they can. Special thanks to Ioanna and Felicia on Reception, barmen Kostas and Gianis who worked very hard serving drinks in the bar and Carolina who kept us company in the bar after taking darts, water polo, etc.

The main Pool was a perfect temperature with plenty of sunbeds and parasols. The pool bar very handy for snacks, ice cream and drinks.

Our only negative was the variety of food which I did raise with the manager. It was mostly the same every day and we did go out for our evening meals the last 3 days of our holidays. Not really of 5 star standard compared to other hotels of the same rating. There is an a la carte restaurant which you can book once a week and it has a limited menu but food was satisfactory. This is the reason for giving the hotel a 4 star rating and the fact it is located at quite a distance from a main town but the bonus is there is a bus stop outside and we took the bus several times into Platanias (10 minutes) and Chania (30 minutes).

There wasn't much in the way of evening entertainment, just a singer once a week. More entertainment would be beneficial.

The beach is a very short walk and there are a few free sunbeds and parasols down there. Surprisingly even though it was a small beach, it had its own life guard who I chatted to most days. Some days we were the only people on the beach. It was heaven and we loved swimming in the sea.

We hope that the hotel management takes notes of our comments and can improve in future and we would be happy to return again. Thank you Solimar Aquamarine for enabling us to visit your hotel during the Covid 19 pandemic which standards were kept very high. We are missing it there already.

Dear Mrs. Annah, We highly appreciate your detailed description of your experience and we are thankful for taking the time. We know future guests to our hotel will find your feedback most useful. This is not a 5 star hotel, rather a good 3 star hotel.
Our suite was very big and the terrace and the private pool both really good size. Pool was cleaned once a week.
Rooms are dated but adequate and the AC in the lounge was a bit noisy and did not work all that well.
Rooms are cleaned daily but the service is not that consistent and requires occasional prompts or reminders.
There is a beach nearby but it is rather poor. There is also not a lot to do in the local area so a car is strongly recommended to visit some really nice places.
Hotel grounds are large and green and the area is peaceful. The view of the sea is quite pleasant.
The food served is good and offers a lot of local variety which is nice. However, the restaurant always seem understaffed. This mean most tables are not set properly for the service. Daily requests for basic items like, cups, teaspoons, milk jugs and so on become really silly after a while.
The main pool is a bit small and if a hotel is full it gets quite busy. Morning lounge reservations with a towel are an issue and hotel should do more to discourage that.
If you can, a private pool is highly recommended.
The al a carte restaurant offers nice food and excellent local wines.
Kids club (5+) is 4 hours a day and ran by friendly and professional staff, although this offer should be extended.

This is a really good value hotel for all inclusive, however its not 5 star standards. Its great for kids. Really nice pool area and the roof bars lovely to sit for a few drinks and enjoy the ambiance. There's 2 types of all inclusive level for drinks (we are not really drinkers so we didnt notice any difference, however if you like a proper coffee ie cappuccino, that's on the extra level)

Heres a few niggles duing our 5 night stay...

The food is abit repetitive, theres not much tradional greek style options, also most of the food just doesn't taste as fresh as it should be. The food isnt very hot either, theres even a microwave in the corner for you to heat your food up... (We went to a different 5 star hotel after and the food standard there was so much better - what you expect from a 5 star)

The air-con in the room is very noisy and is not fit for purpose, I would not recommend staying at this hotel if outside temperature is above 25°c (you will bake in the room), it was 25°c and below when we stayed and luckily I had my mini fan with me to get me through the night.

Apart from the above, it was a very nice stay overall.

This is the best hotel I have ever been! Everyone are super nice and helpful, the food is great - for breakfast you can eat either English breakfast or oatmeal, fruits and so on. Many options also for lunch and dinner - pork, chicken, amazing fish, black rice with seafood and a lot of tasty vegetables. We have also the room with private pool which I highly recommend! I hope I will have a chance to visit other Solimar hotels in the future ☺️

What is unforgettable from our stay is the willingness of the staff to reach beyond and gift us their hospitality, assistance and smiles. Whom to mention first, the amazing bartender (who remembered our drinks everyday), Suleyan the waiter (who was fast as a speeding bullet, or the Maitre d' Pierre - who is very professional and is a credit to the hotel. Everyone works in military preciseness and effectiveness under his supervision. Cosy and clean rooms, very good food with variety and non repetitiveness. A well kept establishment. However, there are not many sunbeds which is a rather drawback as one can not enjoy the poolside relaxing. The beach is very rocky and if the weather is foul - very wavy. There are a few restaurants that are very service oriented and with good food and reasonable prices. We rented a car and visited Chania, and a few places around despite the buses being very punctual and cheap as we wanted to have freedom of movement. Very good vacation - and good moments to remember. Would definitely visit again.

Excellent service in all the departments. Quick and friendly check in by reception staff. Restaurant staff very helpful and cordial. Clean rooms with all amenities.
Both restaurants exceeded our expectations, food-wise. The a la carte restaurant provides an authentic look (and taste) of the famous Cretan cuisine. Well tended lawns and gardens, clear blue pools and wolkable distance from the sea. Great animation for the children and amazing drinks at the Roof bar.

I dont know where to start… we have room with private pool, this is very nice and we enjoy it . Then the restaurant so called services , Krista in the pool Bar and Vasillis in the roof Bar are totally amazing pros ❤️👍 . Breakfast and lunch staff dont have slightest idea what they are doing , not even those who are supposed be some kind of shift managers. Food is what it is - worse all inc I have ever been to and we have seen these plenty. Cleaning is very good , allthough some of the cleaning ladies dont even bother to say hello. Over all food 2/5 , some of the staff 5/5,
Kitchen => not even worth mentioning.
For those whom are trying, thank you for your excellent service!!!!!!

We stayed in the hotel early August 22, family of 4, all inclusive offer. Rooms were pretty spacious, but require refurb. Air conditioning ages back to 70s, loud and not able to cope with the heat. Food of very poor quality, on top most of the dishes are cold, service in the restaurant very bad. If you want to have hot fried eggs during breakfast (because all on the plate are cold!) you have to tell the waiter to tell the chef to cook it for you - 30 minutes later with some persistent reminders you will get your eggs. Alco in the bar cheapest of the cheapest possible - but that is common in most of all inclusive offers. There is no entertainment for the kids, nor the adults. Snack bar by the pool is a joke! Hotel is advertised as 5 start by the travel agent, but in reality I would rank it as 2+/ maybe 3 stars. The nearby beach is rocky and dirty, not pleasant. I would not recommend this hotel, not for the price we paid! I feel I have been scammed!

luxurius hotel, nice room ( junior suite with private pool), nice bath, QUITE room and very nice roof garden.
They had appropriate measures for Covid.
Breakfast was good but they must add ALL types of coffee and not only filter coffee.
The whole area was very nice and relaxant.
Really value for money, we strongly reccomend it
Very polite manager in the hotel

Most important is an excellent hotel with charming and helpful staff. Cleaning, Bar, entertainment and reception staff are excellent.
Both of the restaurants staff are outstanding, specially restaurant manager Pierre is very professional, flexible and massively helpful.
However, the reservation manager the lady is very humble basically she completely made a mess with our booking but hotel manager was able rectify next day. The hotel manager is very professional and very good.
So, reservations manager’s service & skill is not up to five star hotel. Certainly she must be required more training for her basic job, communication and problem solving ASAP. Except that bad experience we had a nice holiday.

What’s the difference between all inclusive and all inclusive plus ??
Answer from Amanda C
Caerphilly, United Kingdom217 contributions73 helpful votes
All inclusive plus (gold) covered a few added extras such as beverages in the mini fridge, premium quality drinks at the bar, hi speed WiFi, 2x visits each to the ala carte restaurant as well as a VIP breakfast there too. I think it was an extra 24 Euro each per day to upgrade. We stuck with standard all inclusive as the drinks were great anyway and the WiFi already was really quick and good enough in our room. The ala carte was nice as you get 1x visit each there anyway but we didn't feel the need to go again and pay quite a bit extra.
