I visited on my own after my husband was unable to come at the last minute, and ended up having a week of complete relaxation in this welcoming, lovely little hotel. My room was spotless and cleaned daily with fresh towels and a bed change midweek, and breakfast every day was so fresh and filling that it lasted me through the day. My daughter and family were staying locally so I met up a few times, but honestly it was so chilled and lovely that I was happy to stay around the hotel!

Most people staying were using the hotel as a base to explore from. I would say you definitely need a car, especially in the heat, although there is a close little village in 15 min walking distance if you want to brave the sun. Beach is that little bit further and steep hill getting back.

This is a family run hotel and the owner and his daughter made every effort to be welcoming and even sent me home with a bottle of wine for my husband! We will definitely return together to explore the island or to visit family there.

Thank you to all at Residence Poseidon for a great break away!

Throughly enjoyed our holiday here for a week in mid July. The positives.
Quiet rooms, aircon if you want (5euro a day extra). Slidable Mosquito grills over balcony doors and windows. Powerful shower (always warm when required). Comfortable large bed (we were in a 2 person apartment (a small single bed was provided which worked fine for out 5 yr old son. It was located in an alcove in the kitchen area. Cleaners came every day at 12, cleaned floor and replaced towels/sheets if required. Safe with key in wardrobe. We ate every night at Cava Liakas, lovely restaurant about 5mins (easy) walk up hill (gets top reviews on kefalonia - staff/food there were lovely but prices a bit higher than other restaurants). Hotel has a good pool, my son happy to spend 4 hours a day in it. The owner Vangelis will go out of his way to help you with anything you need. When our Jet2holiday return airport transfer failed to turn up. Vangelis very kindly drove us to the airport himself.
Only downside was the hotel is a 20 min walk from beach. This might not seem far but in hot weather and steep in places it’s not an easy task with children. We found the local beach too hot anyway although it’s a beautiful spot. It is hard to get hire cars on kephalonia at the moment, make sure you book well in advance. It is worth doing as taxi prices have rocketed and were unavailable for long day trips when we tried.

First time staying here and in these crazy times could not have felt more welcome or safe. The hotel is kept spotless with cleanera in the appt and new towels every day. Breakfast is a joy with home cooking and amazing cakes. The owner is welcoming and has created a lovely relaxed feel to the hotel. We stayed in a 1 bed which is perfect if you have children and want the privacy of separate bedroom. The location is just 10 mins from the airport but not a plane passes over so really handy. Loved our stay!

During this COVID-19 pandemic without a shadow of doubt this is the only place we would stay and feel safe. We have visited many times in the past and know how Veghlis and his team work hard to keep Residence Poseidon Complex exceptionally clean.
It is set in a quiet rural beautiful location with well kept gardens. It is only 15 mins drive away from the airport and 20 mins to the capital Argostoli.
There is plenty of different types of accommodation to suit everyone and WiFi is free. There is an option to have breakfast which has plenty to choose from. The pool is well maintained with a child’s area.
Veghelis works hard to look after you whilst on holiday including organising car hire as you are likely to need it to explore the beautiful island.
All we can say is that it’s a must to stay here. Give it a try 👍

Myself, wife and 10 year old daughter, spent two weeks at the wonderful and calm Residence Poseidon. The owner Vagh was always available and along with his team, kept Residence Poseidon in exceptional condition. Vagh was genuinely friendly and we noticed that he took time to ensure everyone was comfortable and happy with the hotel and their holiday experience.

The hotel is located about 20 mins walk from a beautiful little beach. A hire car would help with the walk back up and also for you to get the most out of this wonderful island. The local taverna Cavas Liakis, is about 5 mins /1 0 walk away and is a real gem (Suggest you book at busy times). In the same square there are a couple of bars and a local supermarket. Also worth noting, is that there is free parking at the hotel.

The pool area for us was a joy. Vagh keeps it clean and sparkling. Even in a busy August, we always were able to find sun loungers and umbrellas. Our 10 year old met lovely friends and we also met great couples and families around the pool. So much so, that we often ate at the same restuarants .... often by a lovely coincidence.

Our room had a brand new bathroom update and the rest of apartment was clean and well cared for. Worth noting that August is wasp season in the Greek islands, but they only caused an issue if you inadvertently stood on one.
On a massive positive, our apartment had excellent mosquito nets across the accommodation to all doors doors and windows. We didn't get bitten all holiday by mosquitos. In fact ht only mosquito bite had , was the one I had , walking our dog in the UK the day before we arrived.

We interacted with many of the staff, including Vaghs daughter and the cleaning staff and all were smiling and friendly. One stand out member of Vaghs team was Leela (I'm not sure of the spelling?) who was just wonderful. Her fresh baking in the morning for breakfast was phenominal and she never stopped working or smiling all day long.

In summary, Residence Poseidon is one of those Simply Greek gems, with an exceptional owner and team. If you want to step off and recharge your batteries, I would recommend you book now, before its rebooked by regulars. Talking of which, we have already booked for Summer 2023. (The King family)

This is quite simply a hidden gem. We stayed in the one bedroom billa, which is lovely, perfect for 2 to 4 people, with stunning views and a beautiful outside area. The villa was well equipped with all you would need for your holiday.
The hotel itself has a lovely pool, with more than adequate sun loungers, seating etc.
The hotel offers a lovely breakfast, with light lunch served until late afternoon for really reasonable prices.
The hotel is in a quiet location, with really only one restaurant in walking distance, 1 cafe, 2 supermarkets. However the restaurant is lovely and for us this was ideal.
A car is really required to vist and see the island but not essential if you are really after a quiet, restful break.
We have booked already for next year.
I couldnt leave this review with a special mention to Vanghelis (the owner) and his beautiful family, he is amazing, so helpful and simply made our holiday really special. special hello to you Vanghelis from Baby Reuben xxx

Fantastic apartments with evey possible amenity. Cleaned daily with new towels and bedding. Gorgeous pool area. We've stayed in many apartments in Kefalonia and these are by far the best. To make the most of the island a car is essential as the location is fairly remote but there is a very good local taverna and a great breakfast on offer, on site. Totally recommended for a relaxed and secluded holiday.

Great little hotel within walking distance of a quiet village in Kephalonia (which has one good restaurant, two mini markets, a bar and a coffee shop). The owners and staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the rooms and cottages are cleaned inside-out every day. The pool and tennis court were always fairly quiet during our stay. It's worth paying a bit extra for the breakfast as everything is homemade and it's all pretty exceptional. The beach is 1500m away down a fairly steep hill so while it's fairly easy to get to, it's a gruelling walk back up in the summer months. Our only regret was not hiring a car for at least a few days as it severely limits your ability to explore the area and get beyond the village of Spartia (public transport is almost non-existent).

Lovely accomodation in a beautiful setting- fantastic view over the mountains and sea. The apartments are well equipped and spotless and the pool area is immaculate.

The bar serves good food during the day and the breakfast is exceptional. Lila's home baking is outstanding (the orange drizzle cake is delightful) and the choice of fruit, hot food, cereals etc is vast (the water flavoured with mint grown in the garden is lovely). Go early and give yourself time to enjoy everything (cold rice pudding is delicious).

The beach is stunning, however, it's not easily accessible requiring a good 15 minute walk downhill. We were fortunate that on a return walk someone stopped and gave us a lift as it's a very steep climb back up and on another occasion, Vanghelis the owner came down and picked us up. It's worth the effort to get there as it's shallow and safe for swimming but a pity there is no shuttle service available- we were reluctant to go too often because of the climb in the heat.

The owner is happy to assist with anything and we heard from other people that he had given them a lift too. Spartia itself is lovely but there is not much within walking distance from the accomodation - 2 bars & 2 small supermarkets and 1 taverna which fortunately serves excellent food. If you haven't booked a table be prepared to wait as it's always busy.

If you want to go further afield a car is recommended. The public transport is doable but requires a bit of planning as it's limited. The accommodation is quite isolated but if you are looking for somewhere to chill and not do much exploring it's the place to go.

Myself, partner and 2 year old daughter have just returned from our 1 week stay at Residence Poseidon in Spartia and thoroughly enjoyed our time spent there. Great views from our balcony looking out to the beautiful sea and mountains. The accommodation is immaculate and room service attends every day. The owner Vaghelis is always on hand if you need anything and gave us numerous lifts in his car to the nearest beach, Argostoli and the airport. Very friendly guy and made our stay extra special. Complementary bottle of Vaghelis's homemade wine was in our room on arrival which was delicious and went down a treat! The local beach is beautiful and there are local Tavernas that serve traditional local cuisine. There is also a supermarket about a 5 minute walk up the hill. The pool and bar area are beautifully kept and comfortable. Car hire is a must to get around. Vaghelis organised us a car hire for 2 days with minimum fuss and car arrived next day. Breakfast was delicious with an especially fantastic selection of homemade cakes as well as cold meats, cheeses, fruit, cereal, bacon sausages and much more.
Would recommend staying at Residence Poseidon without hesitation.
Thank you once again Vaghelis to you and your team for your amazing hospitality!
Steve, Michelle and Ivy.
