So overpriced camp!! From food in the store to prices of pitch and person. For example: absurd is the price of a bread. Buns in camp store are 420% more expensive than in store in Zadar. I understand the price of transport and that this is island, but still too expensive. Good part of camp is that everything is clean anytime. So congrats to cleaning team.

Under previous leadership (Veronika) and her attention to detail this was our favorite camp overall. This year things have changed, most of the staff has changed and are lingering around the camp, nonadaptive reservation system, cleanleness is not as it was, restaurant staff was uninterested and at the most did not speak or very poorly spoke english. Since we were located near the restaurant early morning and late night in staff confessions were part of the entertainment. Prices in the in camp store are actually up to 4 times higher than in the nearby public store. The personal touch that made this camp (beside from the location itself) special , is gone and with it unfortunatelly so are we..

This camp is really the cleanest camp I’ve ever been. It’s quite small, but the parcels are well organized, with a good location. There’s one place for toilets and showers but since it’s a small camp, that’s enough. There’s a nice restaurant, with a great location, overlooking the beach. The location is very good, you can go with a bike around, to Sakarun beach, Veli rat, the Lighthouse, etc. the camp has a shop with fresh bread and croissants each morning, though it should open sooner than 7.45h, that quite late for a camp and people waking up at 7am or before... The camp is located in a small bay with a quiet beach. It’s appropriate also for small children, elderly,... A really nice stay! Would definitely recommend and if we go back to Dugi Island, we will come back for sure!

We are most faithfull to Camp Mandarino. We have been coming here for four years and will definitely return again. We have seen many many camps around Croatia, but this one is our favourite. Run by an amazing family, they’ve created the perfect oasis for piece and quiet. The camp is clean, very well structrured with plenty of greenery. The sea here is fantastic, the bay is protected and private, quiet and clean. One can rent a boat here to discover the island and its surroundings, which we do every time and love it. Also, many enjoy the SUPs as well. There is a great restaurant at the camp, with specials and fresh fish every day, as well as pizza. Obviously very popular and the staff are great, smiling and always very welcoming! The camp owners also have a small shop with divine fresh buns and bread or croissants, delivered every morning. There is much more here and even if you forget to shop before arriving here, you will find enough at the shop. You can tell the family runs this camp with love and great dedication. We are always happy to see them and year on year, see how they still keep improving their beautiful Camp Mandarino:-) we cannot wait to return here!

It is a bit to mention that this heaven is on earth. We were in the camp for 9 days and we are waiting every day to come back. We are very happy and happy that we have found such a quiet, warm and quality place in the heart of nature. Apart from the translucent nature and nice welcome we were delighted with the offer at the store and restaurant. Every morning at the store we were greeted with warm rolls, gemstones and croissants. The shop is small but has everything you need for a pleasant stay. Every honor to do! In the restaurant we ate every day for breakfast and dinner and the offer is amazing. We are particularly delighted with the fact that the squid is fresh from local fishermen, and the pizza is unbelievable. We rented a boat, bikes, kayaks, stand up boards and really enjoyed it. Nature is incredible. Campsites are divided by half on the terraces and each terrace is for two campers. We had a problem because the neighbor was 9cm on our terrace, and since we're in the camp, we're normal and friendly, we've got two good local hard drinks, I think they call the Medicas and problem was solved. Be sure to try it! We had a tiny problem with parking our great camper, but if you know at least to drive and if you're nice and good-natured, somebody will help you. I think only bad drivers will have parking problems. This is paradise on earth and best described by their motto: "small place for big pleasures." We certainly come back and we can not wait!

We went to Dugi Otok to spent our last four days in tent in beautiful Croatia; unfortunately there isn't much choise about camping (they are four in the hole island) so we went here. When we arrived we couldn't understand if the place was open or closed (crazy oraries!!) and when finally we were noted we asked for a place in tent: they showed us the price in EUROS, and althought it was more expensive than every place we've been in Croatia we agreed because of the poor choice. Good, too bad at the end of the holiday I went to the reception for pay the stay and I pay in KUNE so I didn't exactly do the exchange at the moment... While I was doing the final math I realized we payed at least 30EUROS more!! And bill was written in Croatian so we understood absolutely nothing! I felt tricked and I was very angry and sad, I really wanted to come back in Dugi Otok and tell her I'm not a fool just because I don't use your money! This affected by a lot my opinion, anyway too less bathroom and shower (just 3) and not very clean; crazy oraries, you had to do everything in a hurry because everything close very very very early (but we are in holiday!): for example the shop closes at half past seven, or if you want to drink something at the bar-reastaurant after half past nine you can forget it; prices too expensive; Wifi connection didn't work. At least the place is beautiful, and is not surely credit for Camp Mandarino. Bad experience, never again.

We expected more from what they said in the email and on their webpage. The camp is pretty ok, but since it´s mostly visited by germans, czechs and slowaks, the prices in the restaurant and shop are above the croatian standard. We were promissed internet (didnt function), fridge (was too full), electricity (somebody else was already using every port). They told us also that there will be shade for the tents or on the beach, but there was next to none. In a couple of years, the threes that they have planted will grow and the shade problem will be resolved. One thing that really is outstanding: This is a dog friendly camp! our dog felt really welcome. All in all if you have a camping van its a good place for you, but if you are ariving with a tent, try to plan your stay after 2020.

Response from Veronika N, General Manager at Camp Mandarino
Responded 4 Jan 2018
Dear Mona, thank you for taking your time to write a review of our camp. We have invested a lot into garden management in previous years. We are glad you appreciate our work. As you know our camp is situated on an island, which may cause internet difficulties. We are sorry you had to go through problems with the fridge and electricity power. Next time please visit us on the reception and we will solve any issues :) Hope to see you next time again!

We stayed here for 2 weeks during the start of August 2017. The camp site at first viewing looked very congested, with hardly any spare room, however once we were pitched you soon realised that the owners of the campsite had spent some money and time to give a comfortable ambiance to the site. We managed to get a pitch at the front (these cost more) so each morning we had a fabulous view of the sea and the boats moored up. The moorings were a big asset to us as we had taken our RIB to tour the islands and needed somewhere to keep it. (however you can not launch a RIB from the site, only small SIBs would manage the shingle beach, you need to go to the local village of Soline or Verunic) There is a small jetty on the site, however a lot of the children used it as a diving board, which made it very dangerous when boats needed to use it for getting people off or onto boats/RIBs. The campsite is set on a slope down to the sea with tiered levels for each section of camping. Near the top of the camp site is the main toilet block. This was rather small with only 3 showers, toilets and sinks. (each evening there were up to 10 ladies queuing for the showers) The camp site shop, as previously mentioned, is small however it does have most essentials. You need to remember this site is on an island, so once the provinces are gone they won't be replenished until the next delivery from the mainland. The site restaurant has an excellent view of the sea and bay. There are daily specials and in general the prices were average. However when we went for a meal they did not serve bread or olives and they did not have Proseco, even though it was on the wine list. (we were supposed to get free Wifi at the restaurant, but this was not happening with our phones) Overall this site is well looked after, has great views and is not overcrowded or commercialised. If we were to go back again we would only stay for a week, as there was not enough for us to see and do for 2 weeks (which I think quite a lot of the other holiday makers did)
