Am writing this review on our last day of the holiday before flying tommorrow and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We arrived 4 hrs before check in and were allowed to stow luggage and use the hotel facilities until our room was ready (which it was about an hour later). Our family room with pool view(409, 4th floor) is large, spotlessley clean and looks out over the large pool area and also has a great partial sea view. The room is cleaned daily. The outdoor pools area is spacious and constantly being tidied up by the attendants and there were a lot of sunbeds. Which leads to the only negative of the stay. People reserving sunbeds before breakfast and not showing up till after lunch regardless of the hotel having a rule against this. It did become a problem on the hotter days and is annoying to not find a lounger when half of them are empty with towels on them. Some enforcement would be nice but most hotels are the same so not an unexpected problem.

Food. Fantastic. I read reviews criticising the food and happy to say i disagree and would say those criticising are being over entitled. The selection at all meal times was varied and catered to all tastes. Everything was warm (not piping hot but when is buffet ever?) and rarely did i see a nearly empty tray. Breakfast was similar most mornings but even so there was plenty of options. I think youd have to be a special kind of particular to not be impressed with what's on offer. My daughter is a fussy eater and she never had any trouble finding something.

Entertainment was good. The animation team are around all day and in the evening keeping the kids entertained and setting adults activities too. Evening in the bar is live music most nights plus quizzes and Karaoke. Drinks are good with self serve for soft drinks and hot drinks. Beer/wine self serve during day but order at the bar at night.

Ohlos D'Agua is stunning. A 5 minute walk to a beautiful beach with picturesque walks and some quiet shops and restaurants.

We would not hesitate to come back here. The staff work tirelessly to keep the guests happy and they are by far hotels finest asset. Special mention to the restaurant staff who greet you with a smile and help you get seated and the army of waiters keeping the tables clean and food stocked. And also the maitre d' who seems to be everywhere at once keeping standards high.
Thankyou for making it a holiday to remember.

7 nights at 3HB guarana.

First impressions when walking into hotel was it was immaculate. This was the theme for the full week can’t pick any faults with the cleanliness of hotel, plenty of staff all working hard.
Food in my opinion was brilliant. My wife is vegetarian and both kids fussy eaters but found plenty of choice for them all. Snack bar was ideal as it was well stocked with fresh pizzas, chips, chicken nuggets, toasties, ice cream etc so the kids could get something at any time throughout the day or later at night.. tried both restaurants I thought the Mediterranean was best but the oriental was also very good.
Entertainment during day was good to be honest.. a lot of energy from the team and engage with guests really well. Entertainment on a night was ok.. but there are plenty bars and shops to have a look out to on a night around the hotel if you fancy something different.
Location was very good 5 mins to beach turning left out the hotel or around a 15 minute walk to the long stretch of beach towards Vilamoura. As mentioned above close to shops, restaurants and bars.
Only reason I knocked it down a star was bed situation really. The rooms are big enough to hold a double bed and two singles easy but they have gone with a twin/double and a sofa bed for a family of 4. The sofa bed is very uncomfortable and my youngest ended up staying in our bed the full holiday. Also you only get one pillow for each guest, I asked at reception for some more pillows for the room on day one and didn’t get anything so asked on day two but again didn’t get any.. I just gave up after that and got by without. On the flip side when we first got to the room the card switch for the electricity and also the safe weren’t working, these got resolved within 10 minutes.

All in all had a really good week and would recommend to any one looking for a family holiday.

Overcrowded and overpriced. Avoid unless “Brits abroad” and queuing for EVERYTHING (reception, food, drinks, etc) is your thing

Main restaurant like feeding time in the zoo. Food mediocre but plentiful. cocktails ready mixed from a machine and tasted dreadful (sweet, artificial). Restaurant staff polite but clearly told to remove plates, cups etc as soon as a person looks “finished” even if rest of table still eating.

Reception staff horrendously rude and unhelpful - they all had a “not my problem” attitude. They were clearly understaffed as there were always queues at the reception desk - which could possibly be why they were so snappy and miserable? I also question how much English they speak - as they seemed to struggle understanding what they were being asked? The language barrier seemed to be causing problems. We had to rely on other hotel guests to find information out such as how to get sun beds (most people reserving them with towels at 6am) , charges for lost room keys, etc etc. The hotel itself is gigantic, with lots of rules which you are supposed to figure out yourself?! They made us feel like an inconvenience whenever we asked a question.

The location of the hotel was good, the children enjoyed the pool (despite it being very cold) but unfortunately for us it’s not a place we would return to, it was like being in a busy shopping mall with bedrooms!!

We’re just home from a week at this hotel family of 2 adults 2 kids 9,12) honest review
Arrival
Check in was quick and our room was ready early which was great but I think a little glass of bubbly on a arrival would have been a nice touch.
Room
Plenty storage space, very clean, mini fridge ( doesn’t get very cold though) bathroom type hair dryer, nice big bottles of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash and cream provided and smells lovely ( enough for all week. Main bed was massive and 1 bed (not 2
Singles pushed together) I found the bed really hard and the pillow ( only 1 each provided ) a little lumpy. The sofa bed done it’s job but our children are small so not sure how a bigger child would fit and would be comfortable for a week or longer.
Food
Snack bar is by far the best snack bar we’ve been too. Fresh salad is beautiful and the wraps and toasties are delicious. The added bonus was the sweet potato fries! Yummy
Main restaurant for us was a real let down. For a 4 star it’s run like a free for all cafe. No table cloths or dress code ( people wearing football shirts and sportswear) we like to get nicely dressed on an evening and it was manic and the food was barley warm.
We ate at the Mediterranean restaurant twice and the food was so much nicer but the Q for the steak was 30 deep and it blocked part of the other food and made it impossible to get. We were slightly annoyed that we could only book this twice in a week because management said it was full but when we arrived the restaurant was empty. Maybe feedback would be to look at a steak station or maybe order that to your table ?
Pool bar
Drinks were brilliant and staff always lovely. One thing that let it down was the F1 was on and lots of people gathered to watch it but there was no sound and the entertainment started to play very loud bingo. The hotel has a lovely sports bar but it’s closed for main sporting events ! Seems silly to me.
Entertainment
The kids loved the kids clubs and the kids entertainment was great but come 9pm the entertainment was dreadful and the seating inside was not air conditioned so it was boiling.
Sun beds
We always managed to get sun beds about 9am but we aren’t fussy about the position with our kids being older. We did notice as our week went on it got a lot busier and people coming later Sometimes struggled but the hotel did bring out more beds which was brilliant.
Overall we enjoyed our week and overall the hotel was very good and for us got lots of things right but I’m not sure I’d rush to come back as I felt it didn’t have the element of class of other hotels we have visited at a similar price/star

We had a 2 week family break and it was amazing. The hotel is so clean, the staff work hard from morning until late cleaning throughout the day. The pool is cleaned every night. There are plenty of beds around the pool for everyone (no need for those early starts to reserve beds). Our room was overlooking the pool and sea. It’s was cleaned daily and the maid would regularly leave us a towel display of swans or boats on our beds.
The food was plenty and the variety was good to suit all. They had also got dietary options (gluten free).
The snack bar was brilliant for a light snack in the day or even a meal if you wanted to eat there. The two restaurants oriental and Mediterranean were lovely for something different but you need to book in advance. In the 2 weeks I did not get bored of the food.
The entertainment staff work hard doing activities day and night for all ages.
Make sure you visit the two beaches, one is a small locals beach and the other a long beautiful sandy beach, safe for swimming but a good trek up a wooden staircase.
My only negative is the air con in our bedroom was not very powerful and noisy but I still slept because my days were busy and the alcohol was flowing
I would definitely recommend this hotel and I will be returning.

We stayed in the 3HB Guarana for 5 nights, arriving 2 days after it reopened in April. It's an excellent hotel.
The food is a really high quality and there was always plenty of meat and fish options, as well as a fantastic salad bar and pizza/ pasta available every day.
There's a good selection of branded drinks, although all of the cocktails were the really sweet variety and could do with a couple of less sugary options.
The snack bar is easily the best I've had in similar all-inclusive restaurants and the service is really good too.

There's a good little park on site which is fenced off and felt safe to leave the kids unattended to play in. The pools were obviously pretty cold but thats to be expected in April. Apparently some water slides are in the process of being built and that will make it even better.
A taxi to Albufeira Old Town was less than 10€ each way and the little local beach was under a 10 minute walk on the road. You could also access the beach by steps at the back of the hotel.

I would definitely recommend the hotel and would gladly come again. Everything from the food, drinks, service, rooms, pool and overall finish was to a really high standard.

First impressions were wow, the hotel it’s self is very nice.

We arrived around 12 and was told we couldn’t have our room till after 4.30, I’ve have never come across this before, but as it went it wasn’t that much of a issue, we grabbed our swimming stuff and headed to the pool.

First meal we had at the main restaurant, we all really enjoyed it, a bit of an issue with the food not being labelled, most things you could work out what it was, but still that’s something you would expect to see with so many people having allergies.

The food after that was down hill, same every day lunch and dinner same, we got so sick of the same food we ate out a few times, we also decided to try the Asian restaurant in the hotel, your aloud one visit and had to prebook in advance, well what a let down it was just the same as the main buffet, just didn’t see the point of it.

My two children aged 9 and 7 loved the pool, and the indoor pool was really good as we had a few rainy days.

The rooms were very good too, very large comfy beds, clean towels every day, spotless rooms every day. We had a bottle of water on the first day in our room, and then after that had to fetch own from reception, which I’ve never known, I think the rooms should get left a bottle every day from the cleaners.
No tea coffee and kettle in the rooms.

Entertainment, was hit and miss, the worst one for us was the white night. Friday there was a father and daughter act, she was a really good singer, but after every song they would discuss to each other what song to do next, it was painful.
Magic show was the best really good. We didn’t go every night.

Day 5 my youngest couldn’t eat any more food she didn’t feel well, the night of day 6 was up all night being sick, had to go down to reception to fetch water for her.
It was a little worrying as we we’re leaving to go home early the next day, I had recalled a young teenager on day 3 being sick outside the buffet restaurant, so I thought maybe there a bug going round.
The next day we’re outside waiting for our transfer bus and I noticed a boy unwell, then while traveling to the airport their were 3 children being sick on the bus.
It doesn’t look good for the hotel.

I can’t say weather the sickness was a bug or the food, who knows.

The hotel it’s self is good, the staff really good, the layout of the hotel was really good, I felt safe letting my kids go to the park, and roam around, they also made a few friends, just the food was a major let down.

We are a family of 4 Adults and 4 children
We asked for rooms close together direct with the hotel and they delivered
The reception area is stunning and spotless. The rooms are a decent size and again very clean and bright We had a room on level 5 and pool facing and the views especially at night were amazing
Food is served all day from 7 until around midnight along with drinks
All of the food was lovely with something for everyone - The oriental restaurant is a Sushi lovers paradise and the steaks at the Med one are fab. The buffet food was good especially for b/fast and lunch and the snack bar always had fresh burgers, chips, Salad, fruit etc.
Pools are beaut and are always kept clean by very hardworking staff
There is plenty of daytime entertainment to keep you going from Pilates to bowls and football.
The kids club area isnt very big but ok, the small splash park though is really great and keeps the little ones entertained.
Kids disco did the job and the children couldn't wait to join in. The evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss though, some shows were amazing, the sports bar with a huge amount of TV's will keep you going.
The entertainment team work extremely hard and are happy to help.
A couple of suggestions:
1. Tea facilities in rooms would be good
2. The reception area is so big with lots of really comfy seats so maybe add a coffee/wine bar?
3. Could add a pool BBQ on the odd evening or a local theme night.
We loved our holiday here and would highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay here at hotel Guarana.

The room was kept impeccable by the housekeeping team and our view over the pool and the sea was beautiful. It is notable that this hotel is recently refurbished as everything is extremely modern and there are no signs of wear and tear. There is an unloaded mini fridge and ample storage available in the room. The bathroom was well equipped with shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and moisturiser (all nice little touches).

There are 4 choices of places to eat: the main restaurant which has a huge variety of food and something for everyone! There’s the snack bar for light snacks. There are also 2 restaurant that you are required to book ( Mediterranean and Oriental ) and if you want to eat in these book asap in your stay. In these, there are limited choice for children but they do have access to the main restaurant if there’s nothing that takes there fancy.

There are 3 pools 1 baby pool, 2 normal pools including 1 with a swim up bar however none of the pools are heated which is slightly disappointing and the pool is unbearable on colder days. There is extremely limited access to sun beds in proximity to the pool so you will have to get up early to claim these if you want them.

There are plenty of activities in the day for all including kids club, teens activities, adults activities and fitness activities. The evening entertainment is slightly underwhelming however some of the acts they have in and the crazy show are enjoyable. The live musicians in the early evening were very good and created a very calm environment- especially the saxophonist. Tiago and Danni are highlights of the entertainment team.

A little information about the local environment would make our holiday even more enjoyable as Olhos de Água is a quiet area.

Dear Charles, Thank you very much for sharing with us your opinion about your stay at our hotel. It’s amazing to read your review about 3HB Guaraná. We are very happy to know that you enjoyed so much the cleanliness and view of the room, as well as our amenities and the variety of our food. Thank you for your recommendation. We're really proud of our work. Regarding the water temperature, we confirm our pools are not heated. This is a concern our management will take into account in future improvement opportunities, however is a major refurbishment that we cannot foresee at this moment We take the opportunity to clarify that at the hotel reception there is a list of tour and excursion options and our colleagues are always available to help book with the partners who provide these services as well as to provide our guests with information/suggestions about the area. We hope that the memories of this stay will last until your next visit. We would love to have the opportunity to welcoming you back at 3HB Guaraná. Kind regards, The 3HB Hotels team

There was water available all day through the drinks bar which you just help yourself too via the drinks pumps dotted about the hotel. Also they have various flavours of infused water in the restaurant.
