Fantastic location, on top of a mountain but easily accessible. It is quiet and peaceful with lovely gardens and swimming pools. You have maximum privacy. Accommodation is neat and complete. There is plenty of parking. Walking to the dam is recommended. The villages and towns in close proximity offer plenty of beach, boat trips, shopping and bars and restaurants. Marcelino’s chicken in Odiáxere is really delicious.

Wonderfully quiet, in the green, with only whistling birds (and the super sweet house cat) for company.
Our room was spacious, comfortable and spotless, with kitchinette, plenty of storage space, a good bed and good pillows.
A private terrace with hammock and 2 swimming pools with sun loungers for lazing. Some entertainment in the basement (snooker and ping-pong table) for the bad days and reading material (also in Dutch) at the honesty bar.
The owner is friendly, straightforward with a sense of humor, and tries to please her guests as much as possible.
We will definitely come back again!

we stayed for a week in early june and our only regret is that we didnt stay for two weeks!set in the foothills of monchiqe mountains above lagos we were meet on arrival by fernando and elizabeth who were very welcoming and and told us about the best places to visit in the region.the suite had two levels with a amazing huge bed upstairs and living room and bathroom downstairs.there were two good chemical free pools and amazing views of the mountains and sea from our terrace.the location is great for seeing the unspoilt west coast just a 30 mins drive away and historic lagos with its lovley town marina and beaches(especially preia camillo)10 mins away.the breakfast was very good with many fruits grown on the resort.overall a superb relaxing resort away from all stress and heavy tourism would recommend it to anyone who wants a chilled out holiday and we look forward to returning

Stayed at the Monte De Bravura in October for one week, the guest house itself is outstanding, complete luxury and extremely clean. However there is one reason that we will never return, the Owner.
We arrived late at night, and as we were unsure of the direction to the Guest House it took us slightly longer than expected. Arrived eventually to read a sign at the entrance to the Monte De Bravura guest house stating parking to the left, and check in to the right. As we had a car we thought nothing more than to head to the parking slots, well we then met by the owner, he shouted at us "Can you not read", not a very pleasant start or welcome to the beginning of a holiday.
The British guests were in the minority at the guest house and throughout the holiday the Owner kept making comments about "The British" to other guests, who I believe were Dutch. We are a couple who keep ourselves to ourselves and were on holiday for a nice relaxing break and as neither of us drink then the location was ideal as a car was required each night to go to local restaurants, and this suited us perfectly.
The owner invited everyone out to a dinner one evening (which would cost but no details as to price/location were given). On the day we decided not to go as to be honest had not been made to feel welcome at any point during the holiday. When politely informing the Owner that we would not be attending, he waved his hand again and said just go, go and then made a comment to the Dutch guest that he was speaking to "Typical British".
During our stay it was very heavy rain, the owner then proceeded to hand out umberella's to all villa's, excluding our's, and believe me this is only one of the many examples as how he discriminated against us.
It is a real pity, as the resort of Lagos and villa itself was out of this world and I have never in my life been made to feel so small as to how this owner made us feel. Trust me, this is only a small review, Thomsons have received the detailed letter.

We stayed for a week at this beautiful family run resort. And we couldn't fault it in any way. Beautiful views, immaculately kept, tranquil, and super friendly owners eager to help and give advice. Yes there are cats, 2 to be precise, friendly but by no means a nuisance at any time. All it took was a little shoo away and their gone. By no means would it ruin your stay like an earlier post has said. These sad people obviously had other issues like they wanted a benidorm type experience.
If you like a relaxed holiday in beautiful surroundings then this is the place. 5*****

My wife and I have just returned from Monte da Bravura and we can only reiterate what reviewer 'tara0211', dated 26/05/11 has said. We feel as if we have been to heaven for two weeks and we will be definitely returning!
Elizabeth and Fernando are wonderful and delightful hosts and their staff are first class.
I'm sorry to read the one bad review and the alleged bad experience but please just go there whatever your Nationality!

The resort is nice located on a mountain with a great view! The breakfast is fresh, various foods, vegetables from the garden of the hotel...just wonderful.
Fernando, the owner, is a very helpful and kind guy. He gave us a lot of insider news regarding restaurants and beaches. Staying here is very relaxing, very quiet just amazing!

Lovely hotel in a gorgeous, relaxed location in the hills. Apartments were very clean and airy. While it is more suited to couples who are looking for rest and relaxation while exploring the Algarve, our 6 year old son loved the hotel and had plenty of lengthy chats with Fernanado and Elizabeth (the owners)!
You will need a car as the hotel is in a rural location (with no bars or restaurant in the immediate vicinity), but the spin to Lagos via the backroads only took about 12-15 minutes.
If you are unlucky with the weather there is a game room with pool, table football, ping-pong, and darts. Just make sure Fernando gets the spare recliners moved!
We will definitely look at staying there again. Really enjoyed our week stay, and much prefer the small relaxed nature of the hotel compared to the bigger busier resort blocks.
Full marks from our group!

This was our first visit to the Algarve region of Portugal. We didn't want a noisy coastal resort as a base from which to explore, but a quieter place inland with views and clear air. We weren't disappointed!
The resort is in the foothills of the mountains surrounding Lagos, but is easy to find, furthermore, it is only a 15 minute drive to the coast. Glorious views, quiet, with two pools. Though small, the largest was enough to suffice for 'length' swimming of a sort.
The supplied breakfast was delicious, with a range of fare on offer. Continental style, but with scrambled eggs, bacon, boiled eggs for those who like a more substantial start to the day.
The appartment was clean and well appointed, with maid service on a daily basis.
The owner, Fernando, is friendly, polite and very helpful. I was really impressed by the introduction he gave us to the region. Even though we were the last guests to arrive that day, he sat down with us and gave us a very useful talk about where to go, what to do, local restaurants and where to park. This was far superior to any talk by any holiday rep that I've ever had. The only caveat is that you will need a car, but then if you're looking at this place, you would have realised that. Also realise that this is not a place for nightlife of the bar or club variety. A calm wonderful, friendly place from which to explore the western Algarve.
We booked with Thompson Holidays, but apart from useful assistance at the airport, you don't need the services of a rep; Fernando is all you need!

We had the delight of staying here for 2 weeks in May. We travel extensively and therefore believe we are well positioned to offer a balanced opinion of the resorts/hotels etc where we stay. We submitted our views of this place in May which can be seen below. We had a fantastic time which was made even better by the friendly & helpful approach by the owners. My reason for submitting another review is merely to counter the recent negative comments. Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion what I would wish to reiterate to anyone considering a stay at this place is simply, GO !!!! You will not be disappointed. I wish I was there now !!!!!!!

No, I would definately recommed a car. It is about 15-20min to Lagos.
Sorry but we are situated at countryside at 09 km from the party atmosphere. Our philosophy is the silent . to escape from the hurly burly and stress of modern life. Fernando
Hello. We have only one apartment prepared for wheelchair users with a bathroom larger door and a special chair to haver a shower.
Unfortunatly no. We are at countryside at 4,5 kms from a village with coffe shops and small shops. You have to use a car.
Tank you for your question.
Kind regards
Fernando
