Firstly the things that stood out about the Aphrodite Hotel was the beautiful quiet country location, helpful staff, the cleanliness and maintenance of the public areas as well as the rooms and modern bathrooms/showers, great seating area's scattered around the grounds so always somewhere to sit and relax. Must not forget the best ever comfortable super thick sun loungers both at the pool and on the beach, many hotels should invest in these.

It was fairly quiet during our stay which suited us, it was so pleasant sitting on the lovely peaceful terrace having breakfast, this consisted of a buffet which overall was very good. The beach Taverna is excellent, it had a good menu choice and the food was fresh and home cooked, adding some specials would be even better especially for those staying half board. The staff were all really helpful and friendly we ate many lunches and a few evening meals here, the Sunsets were magical.

We knew when booking this hotel that the beach was stones and that it was a 30 minute walk to the nearest restaurants and shops in the stunning town of Molyvos, so we were prepared and brought our water shoes, also we like to walk so getting to town on foot out of main season wasn't a problem for us, it was also a nice walk which had street lighting coming back and definitely kept us burning off the food we were eating. Yes it would be ideal if there were a few places a little closer so if the hotel do re-instate the mini bus it will appeal to a much wider audience especially in the hot summer months.

Lesvos is a lovely authentic unspoilt island and recommend hiring a car to see some of it, we found some very pretty places but Molyvos itself stood out.

Yes we would definitely return to beautiful Lesvos and we wouldn't rule out returning to the peaceful Hotel Aphrodite as it was an ideal place for us, good for couples and had a romantic feel to it, well certainly with those beautiful sunsets.

Honestly I'm ashamed to be writing this review only now as I've been coming to this hotel almost every summer since I was 8.

I have lived this hotel as a child, as a teenager and as an adult. I came back the summers I had experienced wonderful things and wanted to celebrate (new job, new boyfriend) or when I had a terrible year and needed to rest (loss of a parent, covid, loss of a job).

The island is magical and this hotel and the family managing it bring a spark of beauty, warmness and love I have found nowhere else and keep coming back to.

On the more specific aspects:

Wonderful breakfast with local products (our favourites were the homemade sweet and savoury pies). There is an open breakfast area with a beautiful garden view as well as a closed breakfast area.

The restaurant overlooking the sea is one of the best of the island (truly!). Their traditional Greek dishes are done and given with love by the fantastic resourceful staff. We love EVERYTHING but truly want to point out the wide selection of food that will make everyone happy (including loads of vegan options)

The hotel has a great spacious pool and its private beache is one of our favourites (that is a wonderful spot for snorkeling with octopuses, colourful fishes and corals!).

The city is a 5-10 minutes beautiful walk overlooking the sea, ancient ruins and the castle

COVID-wise every common space in the hotel is either fully outside or close to many open windows so we always felt very safe. The hotel is very attentive to COVID measures without losing the beautiful experience of being on holiday in Greece

This was our 4th stay at the Aphrodite, we have tried staying in the village but the setting here is just amazing and all the staff are wonderful especially the guys down at the taverna who are really friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and everywhere is spotless.
You can enjoy a leisurely breakfast with plenty of choice and the meals at the taverna are lovely if you don't want to travel into town. Talking of travelling the only down side was that the advertised shuttle bus service was not running. This means either an uphill walk into town or a taxi, if you aren't up to the walk you need to factor the cost of taxis into your holiday, 5 euros to the taxi rank in the village, 8 euros to the harbour and 12 euros to Petra. We enquired and it seems that the bus is not going to be replaced for next year either although jet2 are still advertising that it runs 4 times a day.
We went on some lovely boat trips which we booked at the sea horse in the harbour, we tried lots of different tavernas and honestly didn't have a bad meal anywhere, a special mention for Molly's bar for a lively night out and Bazar for a lovely chilled atmosphere.
Thanks to the hotel for arranging a birthday cake for my husband's 50th birthday which we celebrated while we were there. We had another amazing stay and we are already planning our next stay.

We have stayed several times at the Aphrodite Hotel. The rooms are large and provide a fridge, safe, aircon and lovely comfy beds. Linen is changed frequently by cheery cleaners. The taverna serves brilliant food from a snack to a full evening meal. The sun beds are thick comfy and plenty of them along with outside chairs and settees. Beside a large swimming pool. More comfy seating in the shade is up at the hotel. I fell and all the staff and family were marvellous towards both my husband and myself. Having spent 5 days in hospital they welcomed me back and did everything possible to make my last 2 days enjoyable. My thanks to everyone for the kindness shown.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Aphrodite and the trip had been 2 years in the making due to Covid, so we were very much looking forward to it. Needless to say, we were not disappointed!
The hotel is fantastic, in a very beautiful setting and immaculate. We stayed in a suite (family of 4) and had plenty of space and 2 balconies with views over the surrounding countryside and the beach to the side. The pool area is brilliant, nice big pool and plenty of comfortable sunbeds. The beach is very nice too, but with little ones it was all about the pool! We had many nice meals at the taverna, the views are amazing and the food is excellent too. Breakfast is buffet style and had a lot of variety and is constantly re-stocked, so it doesn't matter what time you come down for breakfast, there is always plenty to choose from.
What really makes this place special though are the staff. Everybody who works here are so nice and friendly and will go over and above to make sure you have an excellent stay. We brought our 2 young children with us and they were made to feel so special, I know they will have many happy memories of this holiday and we will be back as soon as we can!!

We are just back from 12 days in Lesvos. We were thoroughly impressed with this fantastic hotel. The staff are helpful and friendly, the hotel is spotlessly clean, rooms are comfortable and spacious. The pool is gorgeous, with comfy recliners and mature palm trees for shade. The taverna is lovely and overlooks the shore/beach and a perfect spot to witness some incredible sunsets. Although the beach isn’t sandy, the sea is calm and beautifully clear and a nice place to hang out and snorkel from. We hired tennis rackets and played ‘for as long as we liked’ for 10 euros. I was nervous about the hotel being a little way out of Molyvos but this is actually to it’s credit. Molyvos is a gorgeous town, but it’s nice to be located slightly away from the busyness of the town. A car is an advantage but the taxi service looked reliable. The breakfasts are fantastic, so much choice and it is well stocked through service. We thoroughly recommend staying here.

Just returned from two weeks in The Aphrodite. It is a lovely place. Very relaxed, staff are all lovely - special mention for Katerina (please excuse spelling!) on Reception and the staff at the Taverna- all lovely people. Food is excellent and the dining area has fabulous sea views. We watched some lovely sunsets there.
Breakfast is plentiful and they are very relaxed on closing for breakfast. Very spacious outdoor areas, comfortable seats outside the dining room and good sunbeds around the pool. Pool lovely, just a bit chilly! Clean and very well maintained. Quiet situation but 5 mins drive to Molyvos. We will be back.

Been back from staying at the Aphrodite for a couple of days now and miss it,think the hotel and staff are first class and would go back again, everytnig about the hotel was good the only drawback is the distance from molyvos and we had to get taxis every night into there, would not walk it as its to far and the road i think is dangerous to walk along, lucky we managed to share taxis going in but not coming back, and although its not dear it still cost us over 80 euros for a week.
When we booked the hotel it wa.s running a minibus which has since packed up i think the hotel needs to invest in another one even if they charge a couple of euros each time.
But despite that its still a great hotel and cannot fault the staff at all they were all helpfull

we stayed 2 wonderful nights at Aphrodite and we had the chance to relax, seep and eat very well. Our room was big, comfortable and modern, we had all we needed. q/c, fridge, nice bathroom, bed and sofa, we are please with everything.
The breakfast is buffet, and with a variety of food and local tastes, we really enjoyed the yogurt, cheeses, cakes, coffee. The hotel is built in an amazing garden full of palm trees, flowers and the pool with salt water is so relaxing and refreshing, a real oasis. We had a delicious lunch at the taverna and the food was so good, traditional and modern tastes, large portions, greek and local ingredients. We miss this food!!! What to comment about the people of Aphrodite, they are all warm and friendly, hospitable and they all make you feel very welcomed. We will go back!!

Superb stay at the Aphrodite and decided to return in 2024 for two weeks rather than 11 nights. Travelled with two boys now 9 and 5 and they loved it too. Yes it's secluded and either an uphill walk (I did it once) into Molyvos or a taxi (6euro e/w). The seclusion makes the hotel for us, never busy, always lots of beds available an no rush with people putting out towels for their favourite spot. The Taverna is great and we used it most days for lunch and the odd evening meal when we had late days by the pool. Rented a car which reception sorted and drove down to Erresos for the day and also used it for a few days at the sandy beach in Petra which was great. The staff are fantastic and the rooms very comfy. Breakfast is excellent. We went to Molyvos most evenings and were surprised how much choice was there as expected just a small handful of places to eat. There's plenty of different restaurants in the Port and up in the old town where the views are spectacular. Also a couple of livelier places if that's your thing. Molyvos has retained its Greek authenticity and we have recommended it to lots of people and can't wait to return.
