We have stayed at the Acropol Hotel countless numbers of times and the owners Tula and Trifon Efes treat us as family. Trifon's English is good but Tula's less so but then seeing as I am staying in Greece and only speak 10 words of Greek I could hardly complain about that!
The rooms are basic but clean and if you ever need anything you have only to ask. The pool is the largest in Molyvos and constantly tended to keep it clean. Photos do not do justice to the pool or well kept beautiful garden.
The location is wonderful just above town so quiet at night when you want to sleep, with wonderful views of the sea from three sides and a view of the castle from the other. Two minutes from the top of town so that you feel in the heart of things. It would not be a good location for someone with walking difficulties. Probably not suitable for children but I think couples would love it. It's a marvellous base I highly recommend it.

We have been going to the Acropol hotel for seven years now and we would not go anywhere else. The owners treat us like family and all the people who are nice people love it there and return year after year. We have met some very superior people who obviosly only go to 5 star accomadation and as soon as they arrive start complaining. Th swimmimg pool is far superior to many hotel pools, the view is stunning and the hotel is in a quiet location but only a 10 minute walk from the town. The owners english may not be brilliant but they treat you as you treat them. This is their home for the summer as well as a hotel and there is no need for rudeness, if we have ever had a complaint it has been dealt with immediately. We love it and so do our friends so yes we will be going back again.

We made our booking for a studio at the Acropol through booking.com and contacted the hotel directly by email to confirm that we would arrive mid-morning as our flight arrived in Mytilene at 7.30am. As an aside, we booked a hire car direct through Payless at a very good price and had a hassle free experience.

The hotel was easy to find as it is on a good road just below the castle above the village. We were met by the car by one of the owners who immediately showed us to our room... one of the apartments!

The apartment was spacious, comfortable and clean with a decent sized terrace with a table and chairs outside. Within the apartment, the double bed was very comfortable and the kitchen area was serviceable, with a basic level of equipment, cutlery etc. One point is that the hotel does not supply any kitchen cleaning supplies (washing up liquid etc) and so we had to do a quick shop in one of the local stores.

We were on a room only basis and so did not eat at the hotel, although we were delighted that on our first day while we were lounging by the pool the owner came over with a couple of glasses of ouzo and some small cooked fish and cucumber.

The Acropol provided a comfortable room and we found the owners restrained but hospitable and the hotel does have a lovely pool area. But what the Acropol provided was a great base for the 10 days that we stayed there. The walk down to the harbour every evening never failed to be anything but atmospheric and the hotel gave good access to the roads to Eftalou and towards Petra and beyond.

As an aside, one tip about something that you must try when you are in the area. The Eftalou Spa is an amazing experience. For only a few euro you get the chance to soak away all your worries in naturally heated (and non smelly) water in a building of amazing character, including candles and then braving the bracing waters of the sea outside to cool down. Frustrated that I left this till our last day, seriously I would have been there everyday, it's that good!

This is not a 5 star hotel, but it provides a great base and excellent value for money and I would be more than happy to stay at the Acropol again if ever I am fortunate enough to spend time on the delightful island of Lesvos

Today we've returned from our weekend at Molyvos. We spent our weekend at Acropol hotel. We had made a booking including breakfast. When we went to the people that run the place to ask the details about the breakfast they told us that we had misunderstood and there was no breakfast included in the price of our room. When we tried to explain them, they were not polite at all and replied back in a bad manner implying that if we didn't like it we should never come again!!!
Before our booking we checked their ad at a known website and while no extra charges appeared, when we checked our room we saw a sign informing us that if we wanted to use the A/C we should go to the reception and pay an extra charge 5€/per day in order to get the remote control. There was also an extra charge 2€/per day if we wanted to use the safe box of our room in order to get the key. When we asked the couple that run the place for an explanation they also replied that we had misunderstood and that the price of the room was very good despite the extra charges and that we should have no complaints...
While Molyvos is a lovely place to visit, behaviors like these prevent tourists from visiting. The people that run the place should reconsidered their behavior and be more polite with their guests. As we say in Greece "The customer is always right". They shouldn't see the tourists as an easy way to make money, but as a guest that they should treat with respect.

Just returned from holiday at the Akropol Hotel in Lesbos, well where do we start. I have never had cause for complaint in over 30 years of travell to various parts of Greece however this has to be the worst run Hotel I have ever been to. Greeted with a stern faced woman who told us there was no room untill she checked paperwork to find we had actually booked. Booked in as bed and breakfast and for two weeks that consisted of 3 slices of bread and a slice of cake, watered down orange juice and tea. The toilet was under constant repair for a week and a half of our stay ( photots taken for proof ) . You could not put lights on balcony for very long before you had a phone call from them to turn them off. Other guest had notes put under their doors telling them to turn lights off. Some guests had bulbs removed so they could not use lights. The couple that run this hotel are very rude people and have no idea how to treat guests. Greek people in the area are not like this at all, they are very friendly indeed and go out of their way to help you.

My family and i are regulars on the island of lesvos, however the acropol hotel has to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.
the rooms are pretty grim and pokey absolutely awful service.
the women who runs the place is on a pretty short fuse and expect a good telling off iff you leave the windows open or the lights on or have noisy children by the pool side !..
definetely not family friendly or a hotel for young children
the location is gorgeous and we had no problems with that, but certainly not a good idea iff you have mobility problems.
all in all this wasn't exactly the best hotel we have ever stayed in on the island of lesvos.

My partner and I have just returned from a week on the beautiful island of Lesbos, while the island was what we expected and more, we encountered some problems in our hotel.
The hotel is run by a husband and wife, and while the husband was very pleasant, the wife appeared to have a problem from the start.
Upon arriving on our first night she met us at the gates with a frown and then impatiently walked off while we were waiting for our suitcases to be removed from the coach. We were then placed in the wrong room and left to out own devices, bearing in mind that it was half past ten at night and we had been travelling allday and there was not so much as a word as to where we could prehaps purchase dinner.
After that night, while being as polite as possible, we seemed unable to get into her good graces and while talking to other couples staying in the hotel it seemed they had similar experiences.
It then became apparant that the only thing we had done wrong was the fact that we were under 25. Other middle aged couples, while admitting she was grumpy, had not experienced her blatant rudeness as we had.
We recieved a phone call where we got shouted at for leaving the balcony door open and other 'young' couples also recieved notes and a talking to for other similar innocent mistakes.
It all came to a head one night after my partner and I were squashed onto one of our single beds (after requesting a double) and we accidently ripped one of the, frankly, poor quality sheets. The next morning after apologising she then started shouting at us in Greek.
While I understand that we did indeed damage her property, I feel that she did not need to shout at us in another langauge that we couldn't argue our case to.
Our rep then was called and she appeared to take the owners side, claiming that it did not look like an 'accidental' rip. Therefore implying, it seemed, that because we were young we often went around ripping sheets on purpose.
Im sorry, but after working hard to pay for a nice relaxing holiday I did not appreciate being made to feel like a hooligan and discriminated against for being young.
On another note, a couple who had been staying at the hotel a week before us informed us that before our flight of people arrived at the hotel they had been recieving eggs and other forms of protein for breakfast, a continental breakfast as expected. When we arrived the breakfast consisted of 3 slices of bread, butter and jam portions and a slice of cake. Which, having paid a large amount to upgrade to Bed and Breakfast, I felt it did not constitute as a substantial breakfast.
Therefore, I finish by saying that I would reccomend the Island of Lesbos to anyone, it was beautiful, clean and not over run with tourists, however, I would only reccomend the Acropol Hotel if you are over 25 and you enjoy the same monotomous breakfast of bread every day.

Terrible! Damp, foisty room. Had the builders in. We were put in what we referred to as the shed! Be careful of the sargeant major. Do not spill sun cream on the patio, do not leave your light on, and don't order a cooked breakfast. Pool area was the best thing about this property and it's owners.

Hi. Just came back from Acropol(oct/ 2005).Booked this accomodation through a well known british holiday company. This has got to be the worst 3* Hotel I have stayed in. The rooms are rediculously small and very dated with antiquated furnature and an old and tired bathroom. We booked B&B, and agin this is a mistake. Toast and cheese the order of the day. Also the location of the Acropol makes it no good for anybody who isnt relatively fit. It is situated on the very top of the vilage of Molivos, with a steep hill leading down to a spectacular harbour with many tavernas and bars shops etc. (Molivos is a great place to stay on the island) More centrally located would suit much better .

hotel acropol in molyvos lesbos is
situated near the castle on the hill,
resulting in a lot of uphill and
downhill climbing requiring a certain degree of fitness!
but:the view are amazing,sunrise and
sunset unbelievable and the ancient
ottoman center at appr.100 mtrs away!
however:unfortunately the hotel is
run by 2 pensioners who look upon
guest as people bothering them, and f.i.urging children not to play as it
bothers them.
very old and damaged interieurs and
please do not complain about anything
because the owners get very cross!
if you do not want to follow theIr
strict rules:think twice!
