It’s taken nearly 3 years to write this review and during this time I’ve stayed at Almira twice and have a holiday booked again for this coming July! Says it all really. Each year we can’t wait to go back! I have been reluctant to add another glowing review because we’re afraid we won’t be able to book in for next year! 😊 Anna, George and their children are such a beautiful family, and have an extraordinary team working with them, at the restaurant, at the bar, cleaning staff, honestly, we’ve never met people so genuine, kind and accommodating. They all work so well together and put in so much effort, it shows! Almira is in a cracking spot, a 5 minute flat walk to the beach, 5-10 minute walk from other restaurants, 2 mins to super market and the bus stop. The pool and grounds are beautifully maintained, so green, and the layout is great and practical. The pool bar is lush, overlooking the pool with plenty of cushioned shaded seating around. There are loads of sunbeds, if all are taken around the pool there are always more stacked that can be positioned anywhere you like. There’s a lovely spot on the grass adjacent to the pool with weeping trees and a tree swing providing shade. The arched, draping branches and leaves makes it feel really idyllic. There’s also a small play area on the grass with swings for children. The restaurant Oregano is superb. The best in Troulos. Food and service 5*. The steak with mushroom sauce is sublime, as are the prawn pasta dishes and the baked fresh fish. During the day our children loved having a bowl of fruit and it was so refreshing to see such a nice selection of fruits consistently served, cold and fresh, perfect in the heat. I have to say, we didn’t have a bad meal at any restaurant we tried in Troulos, they were all very good, but we ate most frequently at Oregano. We have found booking the apartments direct with Anna / George to be the best option (first holiday was Jet2 package holiday, there were some issues with communication, which Anna made up for despite it not being her problem - last year holiday, and 2024 holiday, all booked direct!) We have a room we prefer as we have two small children) and it is decorated beautifully - Anna has done her best to accommodate us with this room. The bathroom is a bit aged and needs to be renovated, but it functions well with no issues at all so we have no problem with it. It’s mainly aesthetic compared to the rest of the apartment which is more modern. We honestly don’t have a bad word to say and can only congratulate Anna, George, their family, and the entire Almira team for making their property so fabulous that we feel we just have to keep going back! @Anna and George, We can’t wait to see you all (again) in July! Tiffany and family 😘

Property's Favourite Review
We are just back from a 9 night stay with George and Anna at the Almira. This was our third time to Skiathos and our second time to Troulos, and was by far the best holiday experience we have had! We booked direct, room only, and enjoyed the flexibility of breakfasting on the balcony or chilling out with a takeaway in the evening. That said, there are so many amazing restaurants to choose from on the island, especially the hotel's own Oregano, which was superb! The pool can be a little lively if there are lots of families during your stay, but there is ample room in the lovely gardens if you prefer a more relaxed pool day. The hotel is well-stocked with sunbeds that you can arrange yourself on the grass in the sun or the shade of the trees. George and Anna are fantastic hosts, and nothing is too much trouble, and they have gathered a fab group of staff who all work hard to please in all areas of the hotel. If you like to adventure, as we do, there is tons of space to park and you can organise car hire etc direct through George. An example of how much care they take over the Almira - our last day was very windy and one of the beautiful cactus plants blew over in a gust, smashing the pot. We went for lunch on the beach and by the time we came back, the cactus was replanted in a new pot as though nothing had happened! A very special place and we will definitely be back.

We adored this hotel, lovely friendly staff, we had a room above the restaurant overlooking the pool area. Close to lots of restaurants and a good clientele at the bar at night for a chat. Our room was one of the best we had in Greece.

We stayed at the Almira for 10 nights, beautiful family run apartments. Beds were comfortable and apartments kept immaculately clean. Plenty of sunbeds to use around the garden area if pool loungers were full. Lovely bar area and Oregano restaurant was fantastic. We were unfortunately there when storm Daniel hit causing damage to some apartments and flooding the pool, grounds and bar, George, Anna and all their staff were fantastic looking after guests and bringing them food. I wish them all well in recovering from the damage caused by the storm, we will be back one day.

WOW!!!! What an amazing family run hotel with fabulous staff who welcomed our large group from the minute we checked in. Everyone got to know us individually and nothing was too much trouble. The beds were the comfiest I've ever slept in with the best pillows to match. When storm Daniel came George and Anna made sure we were all safe and waded through knee deep water to make sure we had food and enough to drink as we were unable to leave the room. They went above and beyond!!! I will definitely return to this hotel where I know I am guaranteed a fabulous warm welcome and equally fabulous holiday .

We visited this fantastic hotel in late August early September, our experience from the first minute to the last was truly wonderful. We were made to feel so welcome and comfortable in our surroundings. The attention to our needs were second to none, from George and Anna to all the fabulous staff. Then came the floods and incredibly the care was even greater, everyone pulled together in the devastation,a truly wonderful team effort. Many thanks to everyone involved and we will definitely be returning, hopefully in the very near future. Thank you all once again. Nigel and Jill room 302.

Visited this little oasis with 9 other friends and couldn't have found a more tranquil spot. From the minute we arrived our hosts couldn't do enough for us. The accommodation was comfortable and immaculate, the pool and bar area a delight and the restaurant superb, staff outstanding. Location excellent for north and south island trips. The Almira is now in recovery mode following the floods but don't let that put you off booking, after spending a short time with this fantastic team I'm sure they will be back and even better. Thank you for everything George, Anna, Nicos, Micheal, Martha, Jack and everyone who works so hard behind the scenes to make your holiday one to remember. Amanda & Steve

So in August 2023 I took a leap of faith and booked my first solo holiday. I admit I had an idea of what the Almira would be like having being highly recommended by other family members who stayed there in June, but there was still a degree of nervousness. Now I look back and wonder why I was nervous at all. I had booked direct with the hotel and was delighted that I would be picked up at the airport. After an issue at customs I was a little hot and flustered by the time I got to the exit. A quick call and before I knew it, this amazing lady called Anna rocked up in her car. I knew at once I was in for an incredible time. By the time we arrived at the hotel, Anna had highlighted all of the positives about the island. I had been keen to have a boat trip, and the research I had done before went out the window when Anna made it clear I needed to go on George’s boat! We arrived and before I knew it my bags were en route to my room and I met Anna and George’s daughter who was so lovely, and proved to be really helpful throughout my stay. My room 108 was on the second floor over looking the gardens and pool. It was beautifully decorated, spacious and spotless. So clean. The kitchen area was more than adequate and it catered for all your needs. The rooms are like little private sanctuaries. I loved the brightness shining through the linen curtain first thing in the morning and then closing the wooden shutters at night to leave the room dark and you couldn’t hear a sound from outside. Beds were made daily and towels regularly changed. The air con was a bit noisy but it provided some respite from the heat. The pool and surrounding area is so pretty. No fighting for sun loungers and there were plenty and you could choose to be by the pool or lay in the gardens just behind where there was some shade. The bar was open all day and there was an excellent bar menu for food too. It was all just so relaxed, order what you needed and it would be brought over, and no pressure to pay there and then, just pay your bill when you are heading back to your room. The trust Anna and George and the team have in their guests is just wonderful. The pool is clean, adequate for swimming, inflatables or sitting on the inner seat to catch the sun or talk with others. You soon realise time has no meaning, the day becomes days and before you know it you have been there a week. Anna and George are just the best hosts, they ensure you have the best time, and nothing is too much trouble. You will find George early doors with his coffee to hand and then Anna is always around later in the day - she booked my boat trip at 11 pm at night, plus she checked the forecast so that I went on a day where the weather and sea would be perfect, she was absolutely spot on. These are the little details that no travel agent can account for, yet are the most memorable, they make all the difference. I couldn’t believe the awful scenes I saw when there was torrential rain and storms last week. My brother was there and sent me the photos and videos. I was devastated for Anna and George, so awful to see the damage to their beautiful hotel. I do know however that they and the team all rallied round and did everything to help the guests. I know some of the guests also helped out which again is a reflection on Anna and George and the love the guests have for them and the hotel. I am so glad to hear they have managed to keep open for the last few weeks of the season. I will add a separate review about the Oregano, the on site restaurant, but it is safe to say the service and food is exceptional. Troulos beach is just a few minutes away and ideal whether you are solo, a couple or with a family. It is very safe, and beautiful golden sand. Transport around the island is all about the buses. You soon learn the system and to know locations by there bus numbers! They do get busy but there are buses running all day long. Skiathios town is beautiful, lovely shops, so many restaurants all surrounded by the stunning harbour. This is a lengthy review, but I want everyone to gain a real picture of what the Almira is all about. I cannot imagine anyone staying there and not enjoying it. Every guest I spoke to said they would be back, and in time I hope I will be too. Anna and George - you are incredible hosts. Thank you to you and your amazing staff. You made me safe, welcome and most importantly that I wasn’t alone. I hope you all get some well deserved time off.

Unfortunately we were there during the storms. We were so sad for everyone, it was awful. Our room was flooded. George’s main concern was the safety of the guests and he made sure that we all evacuated our rooms and were safe. George & Anna and the whole team were so kind and went above and beyond to look after us. We were moved to another room quickly and hot food and drinks were brought to our rooms during the heavy rain. The lovely girls even washed our muddy clothes for us. Outstanding . We really can’t thank you enough for the kindness and care that you gave us❤️ even though it was terrible for you. The Almira is is lovely hotel with spacious bright rooms, comfortable beds and good quality towels and bedding. The outside area and pool are beautiful and the Oregano restaurant serves excellent food and service. The whole team are brilliant. We would definitely recommend it. As we left they were all working hard to clear up and it was looking better and was well on the way to recovery. We wish you and everyone on the island all the best and hope you’re back to normal soon. 🙏 THANK YOU SO MUCH GEORGE ANNA & TEAM. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I stayed here for 9 nights. It’s a welcoming hotel with beautifully kept gardens. The staff are excellent and so helpful for anything you need at any time. Anna, George and Peggy were brilliant and not forgetting little toy poodle Bobby. :-) Pool was a nice size and water temperature was perfect every day. Lots of beds around the pool but what we really liked was that there were spare beds you could place in the garden areas, under the shade of trees etc., so there was never a need to get up early and reserve a sun bed. This is important and took a lot of the stress away!! Our room was next door to Oregano restaurant, a wonderful restaurant by the way. The prawn pasta and lamb kleftiko were exceptional. Inside the room, there’s a very functional kitchen area, comfortable beds and excellent air conditioning. Cleaning was daily and also very very high standard, as it was throughout the whole hotel. Balcony was a great size and not overlooked. The bathroom maybe needed some modernising but did the job. Bar area was very nice and we loved the smoothies and mint mojito. Troulos beach is a 5 min walk, with a well stocked supermarket on the way. Bus Stop 20 is at the end of the path and the Skiathos buses come every 20 mins or so, but they can get very busy going into Skiathos Town in the evening, so be prepared to stand. It was our third year in a row visiting Skiathos, and it was the best. Possibly one of the best holidays we’ve ever had. Definitely recommend and would want to come back to this little gem again.
