We stayed in the lower facility of the resort and it was awesome. Comfortable room, and near restaurants and shops in the center of the village. The restaurants and gift shop in the main lodge were very nice and food was great.

Comfortable, well heated rooms with lovely views of the surrounding countryside.
Central to everything and it had a nice, authentic feel.
However, mattress was poor quality and the linen was old and ill-fitting.

Talkeetna is just a small town with a few tiny restaurants and shops. Think food carts and little touristy cabin-sized souvenier shops. Not worth the 15 mile drive off the highway! We had our own car and stayed at the Mckinley Lodge, not knowing it was affiliated w/cruise ship. Spend the time in the Park instead!
