As a family of 3 including our 11 year old son we spent a week in the Mareblue beach resort in August 2023 at peak season. Firstly I would say to ignore all the negative reviews and to know that you are getting good value for what you pay for. If you have ever been abroad before you would know that the star rating system is going to be different to that in the UK, so if you are staying in what is classed as a 4 or 5 star on Greece don’t expect that you are staying at the Ritz. The positives I would say is that the all inclusive food was probably the best that we have experienced. The restaurants were run very efficiently and they were also very accommodating and helpful with my wife being gluten free. They even made her fresh gluten free pizza at the pizzeria which she said is the best she has ever had by a long way. The resort itself was clean and the views were beautiful. The pool was great and there is also an adults only pool for those looking for a more relaxing holiday. The reception and bar area was always very clean and a nice place to spend the evening playing some games or cards. The negatives were the sun beds around the main pool, which in peak season meant that you had to get up very early to reserve beds and I would recommend if the hotel can find away to get more beds and particularly more parasols around the pool area for families it would prevent this. The evening entertainment was ok but, not really what we look for in a holiday anyway but, the traditional Greek night was very good. The rooms were ok and again as we don’t plan on spending much time in our room whilst away it was fine but could do with some updating longer term and the drains do smell at times, which again any previous experience with Greek resorts may come to expect this. A lot has been made of the mosquitos in reviews and there is no doubt there are about in force at times but if you go prepared with citronella candles, repellant etc then it will mostly keep them at bay. And this is not the hotels fault as it is near a nature reserve so they can’t exactly prevent it. All in all for the money you pay this resort is well worth the price and we enjoyed a great holiday, so don’t let the negative reviews put you off. Thank you MareBlue for a very enjoyable family holiday!

Lovely resort, buffet food was good, however I don’t think it’s worth the money you’ll spend, the room we stayed in was hideous and for the price we paid I’d have expected a lot better, it was decorated like something out of the 80’s, the aircon unit was constantly leaking and dripping all over the floor, it was just very underwhelming. Other than the room the resort is very nice, but if you don’t like flying insects I’d give it a miss, everybody you see is covered in mosquito bites, the wasps are plentiful in that resort too, if you have any sort of sweet drink you’ll get harassed by thousands of wasps, I know this isn’t the hotels fault but I wish someone would have told us, because I contracted Lymes disease whilst I was over there!

The rooms were dirty as soon as we went into it (hair on bedding, black mould on bathroom tiles, hair in shower in clumps, brown on sink counter, the list goes on). I don’t complain much to places and have travelled lots and this is worth mentioning For the price not worth it as we left the same day, the beaches around weren’t nice, the view was okay but when we left to a new place it had way better views and so many amazing beaches that you would miss out on. It was a blessing in disguise the room was disgusting and we went elsewhere. Another thing is SO many mosquitoes even inside the lobby. Once we left there we honestly didn’t see another one. We had initially thought all of cofu was infested with them but that is not the truth. It was only at that resort. When we decided to leave after being given 2 dirty rooms it was a nightmare to leave as they were so difficult as they promised we would get a refund. It took over a month and after my credit card company emailed and called many times and when I spoke with them they said that they weren’t getting responses.

We had the best all inclusive holiday at Mareblue Beach Resort. I was apprehensive about all inclusive but this hotel was just super. Enjoyed every meal. The staff were excellent and the ambience is breathtaking. Definitely a winner 👍🍹

Had a lovely stay here at Mareblue for two weeks in May 2023. Positives Food - Was great, always hot and good choice especially as a vegetarian. Repetitive on second week but still delicious. A La Carte restaurants fab too but wish you could go twice on a two week stay as is the same as those who’ve booked for one week and doesn’t seem fair. Staff - Staff are amazing, especially Ebor, Fifi, Amadeus and Ramos from entertainment. As other reviews have said Fifi is absolutely brilliant, on the go constantly and so friendly. Staff in the restaurants are very good too. Also there’s a tall young waiter/barman at the main pool bar who is lovely. Views/Grounds/Reception - Absolutely beautiful, grounds constantly maintained and very pretty. Mountain views over to Albania are breathtaking too. Reception is very modern and looks great. Pools - Nice pool areas with lots of sun beds, never any issue getting two together. They did shut the umbrellas when it rained one day though meaning our stuff got wet so wasn’t impressed by that at all. Entertainment - Good variety of entertainment, again would be ideal if different every other week but we still enjoyed a second time around. Shuttles - They offer shuttle buses at an extra charge on certain days to Corfu Old Town, Acharavi, Sidari and Kassiopi. Pyramid Bar - This is located out the bottom gate of the hotel, we loved it here! Staff were friendly and drinks and food were outstanding. We felt like we were at a beach club. Negatives Rooms - We booked a standard double room and were put in the ‘Octopussy’ block, it was awful. Dingy, dirty and old fashioned. I’m not one to complain but I had to as it felt like the worst room on the resort. We were then moved to the ‘Q’ block and it was much better but bathroom still smelt like drains often. Worth mentioning we had an ant problem at one point which was frustrating but the cleaners sprayed them and they didn’t not return. Spoke to lots of people who were closer to the main pool and their rooms were lovely, recommend requesting one as close to that end as possible. They really need to renovate the older rooms block by block. Also very noisy at night and in the morning with people coming back to/leaving their rooms. Cleaning - The cleaning of our room wasn’t good, felt like they rushed around and didn’t do a proper job. Also cleaners are noisy if you want to sleep in past 9 they’re crashing, banging and talking loudly. Distance - Our transfer took 2 hours from Corfu airport, not anyone’s fault and we knew this before we came. Roads very windy up and our transfer driver was terrible. When we went on a shuttle to Corfu Old Town it was much more pleasant. Also was infuriating on the way back as we were accused of being late when the driver arrived early for our transfer and we were the only two collected on the coach. Never mind the fact they made us wait almost an hour for the transfer on the way out. WIFI - Good when it does work. Multiple days where it didn’t so wasn’t happy with this. Reception - Very rude and spoke to us badly when we left. Left a very bad taste in our mouth, especially the one with dark hair and dark eyebrows. Also always on the phone and not talking to people in person. Need lessons on customer service. Overall I would recommend staying here but again would ask for a room in James Bond, Miss Moneypenny, Goldfinger, Pussy Galore, Jinx or M blocks as I can’t recommend any further back from our experience. We really did love Fifi and the other entertainment staff so much, they really helped make our holiday great!

Just had a wk at this hotel for Oct half term. Over all we had a lovely time here and would go back. Here is a brief breakdown: Airport to hotel: We got a private taxi from the rank, it was €90- the hotel reception booked a taxi back for us this was €75 euro. Its appox an hour each way, didn't have any problems. Saw people on our flight arrive 2 hours after us who did package transfer, so not too good for them. Hotel My view is this is not a 4 star hotel, rooms are quite shabby and few areas need an update, that said we enjoyed our stay here Reception area: staff helpful, nice bar and place to chill. Food: It was ok, bit on the cold side, I was worried we would get bad tummies due to this, unfortunately my husband and I did. We only ate at the hotel, kids were fine tho. Apart from this good selection, staff very good. Theres couple of restaurants you need to book, would suggest doing this prior to arrival as availability limited. Rooms It was me my husband and 2 children. we had a 2 bedroom. Rooms are functional but not posh, bathroom very tatty with broken shower, also a bit smelly. Plenty of hot water though. Cleaning The cleaners are very noisy early in the morning, unfortunately not much consideration for people that fancy a lay in. Moving furniture around above us and shouting to eachother. Beds were made everyday but always had sand in them so assume sheets not taken off to shake the sand off, must admit this really got on my nerves, ended up doing it myself. Mozis and wasps If you are someone that gets biten by mozis it would be a good idea to take some repellant as there are mosquitos here, they like eating me so I did get quite a few bites. Wasp Hotel has a very bad problem with wasps, this is particularly apparent by the pool area. They are literally everywhere, it drove us all crazy. If you have an allergy or are scared of these little critters this will be a huge problem. Entertainment: Hit and miss but overall ok. Football pitch. My children had hours of fun on the football pitch, also great place to meet new friends. The goals need to be secured properly though. When we arrived it was extremely windy, the goals were getting blown over, this was very dangerous as they where very heavy. We reported this to the hotel so hopefully will do something as you would end up in hospital if one fell on your head! Weather Was pretty decent for end of Oct, bit mixed but pretty good. You will need a cardi in the evening. Cups Stupid plastic cups for drinks, poor show for hotel on eco friendly front but also not user friendly either. The spirits were ok, mixers were pretty grim flat and sweet. limted things on the all inclusive. Pools Very nice pool area, too cold for me though. Probably fine in summer months. Quite pool up near reception looked very nice. Beach 2 beaches very close by, quite nice, water was good for a swim and not too cold. Few water sports available. Boat trips can also be booked there. Bars Couple of bars and restaurants near by that were decent. One had all the sports on so good if you are into that.

Due to a big fire at Luton airport we had to do some pretty quick thinking and divert to Birmingham for departure. As a consequence we missed our bus transfer from Corfu airport to the hotel; and by all accounts we had a lucky escape. Apparently it was a bit of a white knuckle ride and takes too long. We got an Uber and went straight up into the hills and over the top in half the time. The room we were given was a family room with two singles and bunk beds. It was a bit shabby and not what we’d expected so the following morning I asked to be moved and we ended up in a lovely location with the balcony getting all of the late afternoon sun. Plus points: restaurant is brilliant. Loads of choice and the staff are wonderful. Adults only infinity pool gorgeous with bar close by and plenty of sunbeds. Beautiful ocean views and lovely manicured gardens. Piped music plays through speakers hidden in rocks and shrubs which is a nice touch. A couple of traditional Greek tavernas and beaches within a couple of hundred metres of the hotel. The reception staff are incredibly helpful and dedicated. Minus points: All inclusive drinks when served outdoors are in tiny single use plastic glasses. Needs addressing. Evening entertainment somewhat hit and miss as with most AI hotels. Wasps. Never bothered us but if you’re the sort to flap, scream and run around every time one comes within 10 yards of you then don’t book this place. The Mare Blue hotel offers affordable late Summer holidays for couples and families alike. We would visit again as we love absolutely Corfu and the cost was pretty amazing as was the weather. TIP: get a local taxi into Kassiopi (10 mins away) for a delightful day out.

Large modern hotel in well maintained and attractive grounds with lovely pool areas overlooking the beach and sea. The staff at this hotel are friendly and helpful and the service is first class. It is quite remote so our holiday was very hotel based of an evening. Nice restaurants with good food and plenty of variety each day. We were all inclusive which was excellent value and the drinks here are very good. Was impressed with the all inclusive and pleased that the hotel provided transport at a very small cost to other parts of Corfu to enjoy the sights of the island. Great entertainment of an evening but quiet areas if you want a relaxing drink. Not much around the hotel so it was nice to have entertainment. We travelled as a group of ladies and had lovely rooms overlooking the bottom pool. Rooms were cleaned daily and very well kept, comfortable, spacious and clean. Nice pools and didn’t have problems getting a lounger. We travelled in June and unfortunately we were plagued by mosquitoes but I understand the hotel is trying to manage this. Would recommend this hotel, especially for families who would enjoy a hotel based holiday with good service and excellent all inclusive value. Lovely area although very quiet but a great hotel. Will return again.

I was apprehensive about our stay at Mareblue after reading some negative reviews (particularly about mosquitos and dirty/poorly maintained rooms) but as soon as we walked into the hotel lobby, it was like a weight lifted off my shoulders. It was so modern and welcoming and the front desk staff were so helpful. The grounds were absolutely beautiful with a stunning view of the sea from the main path leading to the room buildings and pools. The paths, grass and trees were very well maintained and I loved the added touch of ambient music playing from speakers hidden in rocks and bushes. We stayed in a Superior Double Garden View room which was very clean and well maintained, with plenty of space for the two of us. The balcony was nice as was the bathroom. A few minor gripes - the were a couple of marks on the pillows/bed sheets, we weren't left fresh bottles of water every day (only about half the days we were there), and one of the light switches was crackling/sparking. We were in the "Octopussy" building and didn't get any noise from other rooms or the evening entertainment. The food was great. The variety and availability throughout the day was incredible. We stayed for 8 days and never got bored of the main meals. I looked forward to breakfast and dinner every day and if we didn't have lunch we'd get food or toasties from the pool bar. Meal times in the main restaurant ran so smoothly, the staff at the door were always friendly and got us seated quickly. The food is replenished frequently and dishes cleared away once you're done with them. The two A La Carte restaurants were fantastic. Definitely book a night at each. Olives was incredible. Every course was impeccable and the sunset view was so beautiful and romantic. The Pizzeria was also great. Delicious and filling food with amazing service. No issues with mosquitos at either. We spent a couple of nights at the lobby bar which got quite busy but there was still space to sit and great service from the staff. Our main issue, and one I'm surprised I didn't see mentioned in other reviews, was the wasps!! Especially at the self-serve drinks station by the main pool but even sat on the loungers at the relax (adult) pool we were constantly bothered by them. But if that's the worst part of the holiday it's safe to say we had an amazing time. The relax pool was amazing. Slightly too cold for myself, but my partner wasn't bothered by it at all. We went in the pool 2-3 times a day for an hour or more each time. It is very cold but still worth going in. It's nice and quiet at the relax pool with its own bar and toilets. There's a nice view of the sea from one end of the pool and it gets the sun all day. Loungers weren't a problem, there was always enough available. Going after the peak time of year is definitely a good idea. The problem with the pool area is that it isn't non-smoking so the were some days we couldn't escape the smoke as we were surrounded by multiple smokers, a bit disappointing and particularly frustrating for my asthmatic partner. The beach to the left of the resort was great and we went a couple of times to enjoy swimming in the sea - it stays shallow very far out and the water sometimes felt warmer than the hotel pool! The shop by the beach is great, lots of variety in souveniers, holiday gear, and snacks. The shop at the front of the hotel also has lota but is very expensive. This holiday was an absolute dream. We booked it last minute and on a limited budget and couldn't be happier with how it turned out. We were so content sitting by the pool all day with as much food and drinks as we wanted that we didn't end up doing any day trips to local towns - it was too relaxing and peaceful, we couldn't bring ourselves to exert energy on anything else! The hotel is quite out of the way so getting to and from the airport took about and hour and a half but the transfer service we used was very good and arrived on time both ways so no issues. We left late on our last day and there was a room to store luggage in until our flight and a wash room to shower and get changed before we left. We absolutely recommend Mareblue! We had the perfect stay and were incredibly sad to leave. This is definitely a 4* hotel and I cannot fathom how other people had so much to complain about in their reviews. I have high standards and was incredibly worried and couldn't stop reading reviews in the weeks leading up to the holiday but it was all wasted energy as we only had very minor complaints and absolutely nothing impacted our stay negatively. The hotel is beautiful, the staff are very helpful and friendly, and it's so peaceful, there's absolutely nothing to worry about while you're there.
