This small family run hotel has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
The rooms are large and airy with good facilities . Some people expected to be able to prepare cooked meals, well hello it's a hotel not self catering. Breakfast at this time is a la carte and appears to be mainly aimed at UK tourists. The family and staff cannot do enough to ensure a happy stay.
Evening meals are served daily and the restaurant was well used.
The pool area is compact but well served with sunbeds and the pool us cleaned daily. I did not see evidence of sunbed wars although towels were laid out early on some days.
Only a few metres from the beach of Anaxos.
Reports of"clickiness" were not immediately evident although many customers return year on year and some several times a year so have come to know each other. We found sufficient other residents to talk and socialise with. All in all it was friendly. Prices in the hotel were comparable with local bars and tavernas.
There were some issues with the room but it was ear the end of the season and I am confident that those issue will be resolved before 2024.
Our room was over the road but didn't cause us undue problems even though we are light sleepers.
Would I return?
Without hesitation.

This was a much anticipated holiday destination and it did not disappoint on any level. We travelled as a couple but met up with other members of the family who were also staying here.

It is rare to find and authentic and family run hotel and Anaxos Hotel is a gem.

It is perfectly situated in a quiet location less than 5 minutes slow walk from Anaxos Beach.

It became very clear that this hotel is visited multiple times by its guests and it is not difficult to see why.

From the moment we were met by Frank, one of the brothers who runs the hotel; we were treated like members of the family.

Tony, the other brother, and chef extraordinaire; was a wizard in the kitchen. Throughout our 2 week stay, we did not have a bad meal , the food was delicious and the potions were more than generous!

The Hotel is spotlessly clean; and the pool area was exceptional. It was a delight to watch the swifts skim over the water in the early morning and late evening; and there were plentiful and extremely comfortable sun beds which resulted on us falling asleep on them more than once! Thankfully the plentiful sunshades stopped us from getting sunburn.

The sunsets from the restaurant area were spectacular and it was a joy to see the baby swifts being fed by their parents in their nest by the reception door.

Our rooms were extremely spacious and spotlessly clean, thanks to the hard work of the maids each day. The bathroom is authentically Greek and is almost like a wet room rather than shower.

Tony, Frank, his Wife Anna and Fettie made each day a pleasure and laughed with us every day. They take hospitality to a new level.

The little train that takes you to Petrus and Molyvos stops 5 minutes from the Hotel and is an excellent way of getting around.

The beach has plentiful bars and restaurants - all excellent and value for money; but the food in this hotel was so good that we did not eat out in the evenings; preferring to sample the delights of Tony's cooking.

We stayed here for 2 weeks and it was a real wrench to leave.

We do not normally visit a place twice; but we will definitely be re-booking this hotel as it is so perfect.

Received a warm welcome from the brothers who run the hotel along with other members of the family.
The hotel is well situated close to the beach and has a compact swimming pool with beds and umbrellas always available.
The breakfasts were always really nice. The first day l ordered bacon, eggs and a few beans. The portion was absolutely huge - lovely but too much for me so just made sure l ordered a smaller portion after that. Always cooked freshly and to perfection right down to “crispy “ bacon we requested.
We ate in the hotel on several nights and again the food was absolutely amazing. Couldn’t fault it.
Our room was a bit dated but spotlessly clean so no problem with that.
All in all an amazing hotel, small and friendly and can understand why guests return year after year.
The village is small but has plenty of other restaurants to try also and for 9€ can catch a road train to Petra /Molyvous . The mini cruises advertised were well worth going on - we had a great time on them and just caught the road train to get to Petra Harbour.
A fabulous holiday all round - The Anoxas Hotel you did not disappoint.

On holiday with my daughter and only post a review if the hotel is poor or above expectations. Glad to say it is the latter.
The hotel is at full occupancy for a reason and from the moment of arrival before check in I understood why. The staff were completely attentive before room allocation and offered informative advice ensuring you get the most out of the hotel and resort.
I’m glad to say that the hotel is traditional and family run. It is situated in the most perfect position, close to the beach and metres away from a couple of reasonably priced supermarkets. The beach is literally a ‘stones throw’
The rooms and service areas are spotless and serviced on a daily basis.
All food is cooked to order and of good value and quality.
All ‘fellow’ guests seem to be returning customers which speaks for itself.
If you were in the hospitality industry and wanted to attain a standard of excellence then I would recommend you send your staff here to see how it is done.
This hotel epitomises why the Greek islands were so popular in the 80s and 90s.
The staff are genuinely loved by their guests.

The hotel is in a great position for both beach and tavernas and the owners are very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are ample with a good variety and the evening food in the restaurant is really good and the prices are on par with other restaurants. The pool area is lovely, although we only used it once as the weather was so hot we opted to go to the beach which we found cooler. The cleaning of the room was adequate although on a couple of occasions we saw that the toilet and wash basin hadn't been cleaned and there was a smell of stagnant water in the bathroom if you kept the window shut to use the aircon. I had bought disinfectant with me and put this down the bathroom floor drain a few times which did help. The main bugbear however was the balcony which was a huge disappointment. It faced the of the main roads leading to the beach and overlooked the cafe opposite which at times was very noisey. When sitting on the balcony we felt that we were in a shop window as we were on view at all times from those sitting in the cafe opposite or from those driving/walking past. Sitting on the balcony in the morning/evening is a big part of our holiday so this did impact on our enjoyment. Other balconies at the hotel had far nicer views, but ours and the other 5 in the row did not. Not sure why we were allocated this balcony as other Jet2 customers had nicer ones (maybe the better balconies are given to hotel returners). Would we stay here again? Possibly but only if we knew for certain that our balcony was away from the road and the cafe.

Friends have been coming here for several years, I now appreciate why. This is my tenth attempt at writing this review, previous attempts have not done justice to this amazing hotel and restaurant. A family run business, Paul, Effie, Tony and Frank all play a vital role in creating an outstanding experience. Rarely have I met such genuine, kind and generous hosts. They really do go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable and to make you feel like family. I met many others guests who return every year. One guest was ill during his stay, they had to remain beyond their departure date. The staff did everything in their power to make sure they were comfortable and cared for. In the past another guest was hospitalised and someone from the hotel made the two hour round trip every day to make sure all their needs were met. This is rare but totally genuine and offered with humility and no expectation. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean. The facilities are more than adequate for a small hotel. Rooms are spacious with all you need. The restaurant, where do I begin, the menu represents good, honest , local fayre but prepared with passion by the chef Tony. Even if you’re not staying here visit the restaurant, you will not be disappointed. Frank , the best waiter in Lesvos is a true entertainer and immediately makes you feel welcome. If you’re looking for a truly relaxing stay, look no further. I will be among those who return here every year. I can recommend this lovely location without any hesitation. Visit, bring your family and friends and I can guarantee like me you will want to return.

Just back from a 10 day holiday with my husband and daughter staying at this little gem.
Although the rooms are definitely not 5 stars (rooms are basic as in most of Greece, bathroom could do with an upgrade and beds are very hard) it certainly makes up for it in warmth, charm and hospitality. The owners and staff made our stay outstanding.

The food is also outstanding, we stayed half board and all of our meals were served (not a buffet in sight!) and the evening meal was a particular highlight.

The location is perfect just a stones throw from the beach where you can use the sunbeds owned by the bars and restaurants as long as you buy a drink.

There is also a land train which takes you over to Petra and Molyvos which I highly recommend visiting. We also jumped in a taxi a couple of nights to Petra (€7 each way) which had more bars and shops etc.

If you’re looking for discos, karaoke etc then this is not the place for you. However if you want a chilled back low key holiday watching the most fabulous sunsets on the beach with a glass of wine or cocktail then you have come to the right place. The people on this island are some of the kindest and friendliest that I have come across and it’s rare that I return to the same place but can definitely say that this is somewhere that I would do so.

Just back from a week at this wonderful hotel, a perfect place to rest and relax. It’s a basic hotel but has everything you will need and the staff are what makes it so special. Tony, Frank Anna and Feti are amazing and the two cleaning ladies do a wonderful job too, thank you all for making our week so special! It’s no surprise people return time and time again.
Anaxos itself is small and friendly, nice beach with plenty of bars along the front. Petra is only a 5 min car/ scooter ride or 50 min walk at a slow pace. We also did the land train to Molivos which is lovely and has a hidden market up in the town, well worth a visit.
Go visit, you won’t be disappointed

I stayed here with my husband and son, this was our first time visiting this island.. I can honestly say we were sad to leave. The owners Frank, Tony, Anna and Feti the waiter were all so friendly and welcoming from the time we arrived and everyone seemed to know each other just like a family many were returning guests, some had been returning for 30 years and you can understand why, the food was exceptianal, the rooms were cleaned daily, and as for sun beds even though the are only 33 rooms, there was always sunbeds available at any time of the day, there is a bakery called the Taste opposite our room, every morning i would often sit on the balcony and you can smell the the freshly cooked pastries, it was soo tempting i would definitely recommend it, we ate here on a few occasions, the family were also very friendly and welcoming, and their daughter serves the food was very polite. There are also a few mini supermarkets a few yards up the street, the beach is perfectly situated at the end of the street with a variety of restraunts, the sunbeds on the beach are free to use providing you purchase a drink with them, there are beautiful views in every direction you face, from mountains to sea views, and there is a little train you can catch it takes you to Molyvnos, and Petra and you can get a day ticket for 9 Euro, you can get on and off as many times as you like.

This was a perfect holiday in which i did not want to end, it is very relaxing and the people on the island are so friendly,. I will definitely return to this hotel again.

Just returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel which I would certainly recommend. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis which was table service and you simply picked from the breakfast menu. Food was always good, nicely cooked and well presented.
Rooms are a little dated but comfortable.
Our hosts Tony and Frank were lovely - everyone was made welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
Must mention Feti also - a lovely young man who is certainly an asset to the hotel.
There were many repeat visitors to this hotel and I hope to be another one of them next year.
