This is our first time staying at the sunset apartments (we visit koukanaris twice each year) we are staying in room 112 it is spacious well decorated, I would almost say it has been completely modernised the bathroom is modern with a duel shower and curtain, the linen has been changed 3 times in the week the towels are lovely and soft. We have found the kitchen facilities to be a good standard for self catering accommodation with plenty of cutlery and crockery.
The location of the sunset is amazing 2 minutes walk to the nearest supermarket and restaurants and a 10 to 15 minute walk to some of the best beaches on Skiathos.
The service from the hotel team has been amazing friendly and welcoming the pool area is immaculate with plenty of beds, it's a lovely space to sit on an evening and have a drink from the bar.
I feel very lucky to have found this accommodation and couldn't recommend it enough I will be booking for our next trip back in June 2021 hopefully...
Thank you team sunset 😎

Arrived late evening with a warm welcome. Our room was upper floor which we had requested, cleaned every day, spacious, spotless clean, private balcony and we were very happy with the location, close to beautiful beaches which we accessed through the rear gate of the apartments walking through the pine forests. Close to a good selection of taverna's and a few bars, supermarket and bus stop just a minutes walk. We also had breakfast and ate at the on-site restaurant, the food was so good, our favourite being the kleftico, lamb chops, chicken slouvaki and dolmades were delicious. Local draught beer and the rose' wine were very good The swimming pool was always clean surrounded by comfy loungers and parasols. Thank you to Lefteris who looked after us and always with a smile, he was always so pleasant. Best wishes, Dawn and Brian

Arrived around 10pm to be met by the barman Terry whom escorted us to our room. No additional charges for air con, WiFi or safety deposit box.

No time to unpack the staff at the apartments allowed us to order both food and drinks late into the evening, which was fantastic.

Food/drink:
The sunset apartments offers an extensive snack menu for breakfast and lunch. The evenings meals are fabulous 😊 the best beef stifado I've ever had!

Beer available is mythos and very nice too, along with a selection of wines and spirits.

Accommodation:
Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious. A very quiet apartments both during the day and Into the evening

Pool area:
Spotlessly clean both the water and the surrounding area, poolside and sunbeds cleaned every day

Location:
Great location for restaurants, beaches, bus stops and walking trails too

Staff:
Vasilis and Terry were amazing hosts, nothing was too much trouble happy to make sure you have a great holiday. Both the staff at the apartments and the Jet2 rep deserve a massive shout out for supporting an elderly couple during their stay in koukanaries whom sadly became unexpectedly very I'll. Their support made this inconvenience to their holiday more easier to manage.

Overall the best Greek holiday and island I've had, and I'm a frequent traveller over the years to many other Greek islands.

10/10 the sunset apartments, thank you for a great holiday 👍😊

We shall be back, best wishes Mike and Amanda

Overall we had a lovely holiday in Skiathos in August and were lucky to get away this year.
This accommodation has good and bad points as I will try to explain.
The location is fantastic, a short walk to the beach (koukounaries) and a little further walk to other quieter beaches (mandraki) It is also near to really nice places to eat and drink.
There is a regular bus goes past the studios that will take you to other villages and Skiathos town - well worth exploring.
The bar sells a limited selection of food and drinks, very good greek salad.
The studio room is very basic, probably more basic than I anticipated. Its not really equipped for self catering unless you get inventive with a a frying pan ie - toasties, eggs etc. I was surprised there was no toaster. The air con worked well and was needed (chargeable). There is a safe available to hire also. The bathroom is basic however the hot water was plentiful and decent pressure so can't complain about that. After many hotel and self catering stays I think the 2 things that really make a difference to our enjoyment is a decent shower and a good bed. Unfortunately the bed was shockingly bad, I could feel every spring in the thin mattress and the mattress protector was plastic and crinkled and crunched like a crisp packet when turning over. We stayed a night in Skiathos town for a treat and a decent bed for the night. I did mention it to the Jet2 rep but he didn't seem interested.
The owner was a little chilly and not that friendly in all honesty, the younger male staff behind the bar was more welcoming.
The pool was pristine and kept very well, the tiles are a little slippy on the bottom as the depth goes quite sharply from shallow to deep. Next time we visit Skiathos we will pick a different area to stay in.

Lovely unexpected break. Booked late with Jet2 just to get away during the current situation.
Firstly if you do book with Jet2 you may not get the best rooms. The photos on the Jet2 website are not necessarily the rooms allocated.
Our studio room (107) although a large bedroom area and adequate kitchen for our needs had a tiny bathroom with a small step up into it which on our arrival my wife tripped over and badly bruised her arm and knee banging her head on the basin pedestal. The management team were aware of the incident and we also reported it to the Jet2 rep who explained that many homes in Greece are built this way and is safe under Greek law. This I can accept but I do think Jet2 should make people more aware especially as a few more older people than us were present during our stay. Had my wife hit her head on the corner of the shower surround we may well have started our holiday with her in hospital. (In fairness to the management they did place a safety notice after we reported the incident)
However we were determined not to let the incident affect our stay. Accidents do happen after all.
Onto the room. There is a safe in the room but it isn't secured to the wall or even the wardrobe so it isn't that secure.
Thats all the bad points out of the way!
The greatest asset to this place has to be the pool area. The water is kept immaculately clean as are the plentiful sunbeds etc. The Taverna menu is greatly reduced due to Covid restrictions but we still managed to have an adequate choice and tasty meal whenever we ate there.
Vas runs the bar and kitchen in the morning and Terry (Who is an excellent barman) in the afternoon and evening. One of the many repeat guests told us that the Taverna, under normal circumstances, is very popular and takes on a completely different vibe.
So all in all we had a great time. The comments at the start of this review are not meant to appear that we don't appreciate the hard work that the team have put in to ensure their guests enjoy their stay, as we certainly did, during these difficult and worrying times and we would like to wish Sunset all the very best for the future.

We've been here 4 time now and each time we've thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing chilled out holiday. Opposite Koukounaries lake and backing onto fragrant pine forest on a good night it's so peaceful you can hear the local owls and the sea waves on Koukounaries beach. Teri and Vasili always make you welcome, and whatever your problem they will try to solve it. The accommodation is varied so check out the website as Jet2's site may be a little misleading. The rooms range from the traditional style Greek self-catering rooms with a modern twist to larger spacious rooms with mezzanine floors. With a bit of ingenuity you can rustle a good breakfast despite the basic cooker or just nip down to the restaurant and let Vasili rustle one up for you. The accommodation is clean, with nice homely furniture and curtains so you can leave your windows open at night as there are very few mosquitos. So who needs air con and your neighbours would probably prefer it if you didn't anyway. We usually eat at the restaurant and it's always been excellent. Top quality food, traditional and tasty. We'll definitely be back again. We just love it .

We have been to the island seven times now and this was our 4th visit to Sunset apartments. Yes, the rooms are very basic, but they are spotlessly clean, maid service every other day. The pool area is fantastic, just set back from the main road, it is maintained to a very high standard. The bar area sells a good range of drinks and the snack food is excellent. There is a restaurant in the evening, with some beautiful food. We asked Vasilias if he could get us some fresh mussels ( not on the menu), which he did and they were cooked perfectly. I would thoroughly recommend this place, it’s clean and comfortable. Ai con and safe are charged extra, but most places do this too. Can’t wait to go back. Hopefully 3 weeks next year.

Returned home from our second stay at Sunset. Last visited in July 2019 and loved it so much! Never been abroad in May but weather great. Cool at night but thick quilt on bed made it very comfy. Arrived at 10.30 pm and “Terry” greeted us, there is no reception, it’s not needed. Owner Vasilias is around throughout the day and is very friendly. If you need anything he is very accommodating. Terry is very helpful and he took us to our room (100) which was the same as we had in 2019. Ground floor in the corner with a large balcony area. The room had been revamped and is now a large double room with a large new wetroom which was a pleasant surprise and a bonus! Small kitchen area with kettle and 2 rings and essentials but we like to eat out. Breakfast and snacks great and ample seating area. We never ate at night there as like to venture out but others we spoke to said it was lovely food. The restaurant Lily’s Orchard next door only opened on our last day so didn’t try it. Ottimos Italian great pizzas, big bad wolf, under the pine tree and our favourite Strofilia all recommended! Augustera bar next door fabulous with large music screen and sport screen. Staff are wonderful. It’s the only main bar there. One bar did open day we left next to Ottimos. All restaurants within walking distance and Koukanaries beach 15 min walk along the main road. It’s simply fabulous. Lots of other beaches around. Can also hop on the bus and stop off at different beaches. Buses every 30 mins to Skiathos town. Sunset is a 3 star, rooms and pictures just as Jet2 advertise and we were impressed with the good sized pool, plenty of sun beds. Extremely clean and Vasilias and Terry always around should you need anything. We had a very chilled week and will definitely be returning! Thankyou Sunset!

Our first time in Skiathos, we arrived about 9:30 pm, we were well greeted and had Lamb Kleftico on arrival which was great, drinks were reasonably priced. The room was basic and comfortable, air con was charged extra but worth it. Great location to explore the many beaches close by, we didnt need a car for the week. Plenty of restaurants and a great bar next door called Agustera, staff were amazing, there was a regular bus service to Skiathos town but we preferred the water taxi from Kookanrias Beach, our favourite beach within walking distance was Agia Elani, the green restaurant on the beach is really funny and a great lunch, water is crystal clear

We didn’t eat breakfast there but everything on the menu is reasonably priced. There is a supermarket next door that sell fresh bread and pastries and is well stocked. All the restaurants and bars were fairly priced. Most expensive evening meal was around 30 euros with a bottle of wine.
