My husband and I have just returned, refreshed and energised from Acajou Beach Resort, a glorious beach front hotel on Praslin. After 8 blissful visits Acajou has become like a second home to us. Here you find dedicated staff who become like family, who embrace you when you return, who love their work and who cannot do enough to make your stay truly memorable. We believe Acajou's secret is the warm personal touch. Upon arrival you will meet welcoming staff like the beaming Andrew, the Go To fellow, who solves all problems and then the charming receptionists like Serah, and Gillianne. Acajou is owned and run by a Seychellois family who are passionate about their country and who treat each member of staff with dignity and respect. Some members of the Team have served there for more than 8 years. They will tell you with emotion how compassionately their General Manager Ms Joanise Doway cares for them and how she supported them all through the difficult and challenging COVID months.Acajou is described as a Green Hotel because the Management and Staff members are fully committed to saving the environment and employ wise techniques which encourage conservation .A stroll through the lush, beautifully maintained hotel gardens will fill you with joy. Here you will marvel at the artistic and creative flair of the G.M's husband Mr Hugh Payet. Vibrant colours are intermingled with soft greens, yellows, golds, emerald and russet tones. Dotted throughout the gardens are solar powered lamps and lanterns which cheerfully illuminate the pathways at night.Magical coloured lights transform the foliage in the shadows from green to pink, to blue, to mauve and you will discover enchanting little nooks, just perfect for a quiet smoke, a read or quiet contemplation. Fascinating creatures have been cleverly constructed from recycled materials. Beautiful little bright red birds flit from branch to branch and may even visit you at tea time on your balcony.Towering coconut palms and tropical giants seem to claw their way upwards to reach greater heights. Most guests comment in their reviews on the sheer beauty of Côte D'Or beach with its shimmering white sand which stretches for 3 km and its postcard perfect turquoise water with a sea temp of 28 deg! The sound of the waves was music to our souls as we slept at night or sipped tea on our private balcony. The hotel rooms are spacious and immaculate. The new bedside pedestals are most attractive and practical. We appreciated the comfortable king size bed and the choice of pillows. There is ample hanging space and hangers are provided. We enjoyed plenty of hot water and the showers are most efficient. The wall safe gives one peace of mind and the bar fridge is handy for chilling milk or drinks. We appreciated having a kettle and tea, coffee, bottled water and biscuits. The shampoo, soap and skin lotion is a fine quality and supplies were checked regularly. Our towels and bed linen was changed frequently. You will marvel at the realistic little animals and sea creatures which the room cleaners create from white towels and which often appear on your bed as a surprise after breakfast. The energetic and ever smiling Anne- May supervises House Keeping and has served as a staff member for eight years. We thank her and her hardworking team of Lea, Yogendra, Colvine, Geetha and the new young men and all those who serve in the Laundry for their outstanding work. Two key figures in the Acajou Team who have endeared themselves to staff and guests are the General Manager's sister Barbara Doway and her brother Claude. They are both skilled members of the Team, each fulfilling vital rôles which assist in the smooth running of the Resort. Besides their Beach and Outing experiences, a certain highlight for most holiday makers at a beautiful 4 Star Hotel is their food and dining experience! Acajou is blessed to have a remarkable Senior chef called Indika. He is professional, highly skilled and personable. He relates exceptionally well to the guests and enjoys getting feedback regarding favourite dishes or new ideas. The Acajou breakfast buffets and themed buffets each evening were outstanding. Vegetarians and Vegans will not be disappointed and wait until you see the tantalising array of desserts! Watch this space! I was invited to sample some of Indika's brand new succulent and mouth watering Octopus dishes! You will definitely come back for more! A remarkable Team of hard working kitchen staff greet guests with smiles despite the heat and humidity in the kitchen. What a joy it was to be welcomed back warmly and to be served by delightful waitrons who were so attentive on our previous visits, like Bettina, Kuruppu, Eranda, Aruna, Ishan, Amila and to make new friends like Dilhan, Maureen, Nuwan, Shannie, Janella and the other attentive and helpful new comers. Sadly we missed Rayan, a long time friend who had recently retired. There's a new and exciting surprise which will make your dream holiday unforgettable. Another of Mr Payet's inspired ideas has come to fruition! First it was the new hotel block which gives you the feeling of holidaying on a luxury yacht! Soon it will be a view to die for! Look out for the brand new roof top jacuzzis and a luxurious roof top suite where you can star gaze from a jacuzzi and can even care for lovely tropical plants while you enjoy yourholiday! Then to relax at the end of a blissful day, wallow in the glorious infinity pool at sunset, look out towards the sea and marvel at how the waves turn pink, mauve and crimson or sip a cocktail at the Star Fish Bar alongside the swimming pool.A lovely new innovation is your free invitation to attend the General Manager's Tuesday evening Cocktail party held at the Pool Bar.It's a great way of making new friends with visitors from around the world and you will enjoy dancing to the beat of the Seychelles music as you sample the delicious canapés. It was heartwarming to see more older folk like us, as well as lovely young families with babies coming to enjoy all that this amazing hotel has to offer.Thank you so much to the Acajou Team for making my 80th birthday so special! I could not have celebrated in a happier Haven!

Acajou is a great hotel! Very clean rooms with cozy interior. Nice green territory with good swimming pool and access to the sea shore. There are several restaurants in the hotel with delicious food and pleasant service. Buffet breakfast is very tasty. The staff shows great hospitality, especially we would like to mark the work of Eranda, Aruna and Amila. These guys do outstanding job! It was very nice to have friendly conversations with them. Amila always was attentive and gave special service. We definitely can recommend Acajou hotel and truly hope we will come back one day. Thank you!

We stayed last week at Acajou Resort Hotel and we were very satisfied. My aunt already stayed at Acajou few years ago and recommended it. Perfect location to explore the Island by car or bus. The property is well maintained and very green with lush vegetation. It is located directly on the beach. The sea was a bit rough during our stay but the swimming pool with plenty of space and many beach chairs was a perfect way to relax, too. We stayed in the front part of the resort (yellow buildings which looked more recent) in a superior room which had a large size and was comfortable (from our understanding, standard rooms seem to be in wooden-style buildings which looked older). The breakfast and dinner buffets were both very good and fresh and we had the opportunity to greet the Cook everyday. The staff was very professional, always smiling and greeting guests and always eager to help for a perfect stay. On Tuesday, we had the opportunity to attend the General Manager’s party at the pool bar with Seychelles music and a dance show. It was a great way to socialize with other guests in a relaxed atmosphere. During our stay a gifted local musician also played music hits with a Seychelles flavor during dinners. I highly recommend this hotel. It is a family managed hotel and you can feel the difference !

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and the rooms are a great size with a private veranda. Not too many rooms/guests so it doesn't feel busy. The food at breakfast and dinner were fantastic and great variety. Staff were super friendly (like most the population in the Seychelles) and couldn't do enough for you. Beach was beautiful, plenty of sun beds and towels provided by the hotel. Short walk to a little town with a few restaurants and shops. We got a taxi from the ferry port which cost us 250SCR. From reviews/comments we were expecting to pay a little more so were pleased. We had a taxi driver called Jerry who gave us his number for the return trip. He was early to pick us up and easy to arrange via Whatsapp. If you need a taxi he's your man +2482571870.

The food was delicious, tasty, good vibes, had to ask for extra rice for my curry, but no fuss, the chicken and chips needed a bit more chicken. Great bar service and amazing margaritas. It's a nice location, able to walkin without prebooking.

It was a great experience staying at this small but family style hotel on Praslin. The staff were so welcoming, though we arrived late in the evening, all were well taken care of. The garden is so beautiful, and the room so accommodating. We slept so well. The breakfast is just good, very good variety, please do visit this beautiful hotel when you are on Praslin Doreen and Danny De Letourdie

Overall our stay was pretty good, a couple of areas that could have been better would be the beds. Our bed was super uncomfortable felt like we were sleeping on the box spring not the best way to relax on vacation. Second one of the front desk receptionist not sure of their name was very rude. Almost seemed like we bothered them when we asked them a question. We did see the interaction with other guest and this member seemed nice to them but with us we didn’t get the same treatment fro. That was the only staff member that made us feel that way didn’t have a name badge so I’m not sure of their name, he was heavier set.

Acajou Beach Resort is Special in just so many ways. It is known as "Praslin's Green Hotel. " Passionate Nature lovers will be delighted to hear that there are numerous eco-friendly practices in place. Acajou is owned and managed by a charming Seychellois family whose patriotism and love for their Island nation is contagious. This stunning 4 Star Gem is a haven of peace and tranquility. Acajou grows on you! You will feel you never want to leave, but when you do, you will be richer by the wonderful new friends you have made there. Acajou welcomes young and old. It's a safe haven for solo travellers. What a thrill it was for us to return in February  for our 7th visit. It was heartwarming to see a comfortably full hotel and the joy on the faces of families being welcomed back after all the uncertainty of COVID lockdown and travel restrictions.  My husband is 94 and we live in Cape Town, South Africa  yet nothing will deter him from taking 3 plane trips each way, to enjoy a dream holiday at Acajou which has a very special place in our hearts and which we have come to regard as our Home from Home on Praslin. The hotel is blessed to be positioned on the beachfront on Côte d'Or, a glorious 3 km stretch of beach, regarded by many visitors as one of Praslin's most beautiful beaches. Acajou is built close to the sparkling turquoise waves that lap the dazzling white, powdery sand. From early in the morning it was a joy to watch from our balcony as pre breakfast swimmers bobbed in the gentle waves enjoying the blissful  28 deg.sea temperature. Get fit enthusiasts jogged along the 3km stretch and dog walkers let their boisterous dogs prance in the waves and chase the bubbles as they broke on the glistening sand. After a blissful stay at Acajou Beach Resort you will soon discover why it's very hard to tear yourself away.  At this tranquil little beachfront Gem you will be welcomed warmly and cared for throughout your stay by some of the kindest and most hospitable hotel staff you will ever encounter. The General Manager, Ms Joanise Doway, is elegant and charming. She is loved and respected by her staff of 70+  because she is a Hands On GM who leads by example. Several staff made a point of telling us how they had been supported and cared for during Lockdown. We were impressed by their enthusiasm and fine work ethos. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble. They remained cheerful and went the extra mile to please their guests. Many of the staff made a point of learning our names which made us feel very special. We loved the way in which the staff complement represented a number of nations yet they all worked together harmoniously. Ms Doway's sister, Barbara, plays a key rôle in the hotel and her brother, Mr Claude, is a master photographer and has been the overseer of charming beachfront weddings. Folk from all over the world love the idyllic beach front setting and the fine culinary experience offered to their guests. The glorious Seychelles sunsets and the balmy starry nights are sheer magic. For us it was a joy to return and recognize many staff members who had served us on previous visits. Andrew oozes charm and is the amiable Guest Relations team member with an infectious laugh. He seems able to solve any  problem you might encounter. Serah and Gillianne and their new assistants, Angelique and Adriana who work in Reception are extremely helpful and efficient and will help you with bus routes, taxis, car hire, booking tours, currency exchange, confirming flights and printing boarding passes!  Browsing through the reviews it appears that for many guests the Restaurant and the appetising food on offer proved to be a special holiday highlight. We highly recommend opting for the Half Board package because the breakfast buffets and themed evening dinner buffets are a delight. The food is tastefully and creatively presented to whet the appetite. Vegetarians and vegans are well catered for. The chief Chef Asoka and his Deputy Indika produce tantalising meals and decadent desserts. Their freshly baked bread, rolls, pastries, croissants, cakes and biscuits are a mouth watering delight.Hats off to the kitchen staff who work in very hot conditions yet always appear with happy smiles. We were overjoyed to find well loved and familiar faces like those of Bettina, Rayan, Kuruppu and Eranda still serving as waitrons or bar tenders, together with Amila, Ishan,Aruksha and charming young Aruna, who wore a captivating smile even when shouldering an enormous load of dirty dishes en route to the kitchen. You will immediately feel contented and relaxed in your beautifully appointed bedroom. The mattresses and pillows are extremely comfortable. There is all you need for a carefree  stay...a wall safe for your valuables, ample cupboard and hanging space, hangers, towelling gowns and slippers, a drying rack on the balcony, an extremely quiet yet super efficient air conditioner and brightly coloured beach towels. The bathrooms are bright and spacious with very efficient showers and plenty of hot water. There are twin basins, a make up and shaving mirror and a pull out hairdryer on the wall. Supplies of shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and toilet soap are topped up throughout your stay. Bed linen and towels are changed regularly and the House Keeping and room cleaning team under ever faithful Ben and Anne-May ensure that rooms are kept spotless. We thank Leah, Geetha, Yogendra and Michel for caring for us so wonderfully and ensuring that we always had a supply of tea, coffee, milk, fresh fruit and bottled water in our room. We were enchanted by the realistic little bunny, swan, elephant, snail, dog and flowers you so cleverly made out of hand towels as a surprise when we returned from breakfast. Our sincere thanks to Ebrahim who tackled little maintenance requests so willingly and who ensured that the beach was kept in pristine condition with sun loungers freely available. Thank you to the laundry team whose washing and ironing service was exemplary. One of our greatest joys at Acajou is to stroll through the beautifully landscaped tropical gardens. Credit goes to Ms Doway's husband, Mr Hugh Payet, who is not only a well -travelled and astute businessman but someone with artistic flair and insight who enjoys creative innovation. You will love the blend of soothing shades of green and the warm gold and russet tones, with vivid bursts of red, orange, blue, yellow and vibrant purple which lift your spirit. Towering above the garden and built close to the infinity pool and Star Fish bar you will marvel at another of Mr Payet's novel ideas. It's Acajou's newest and very attractive building ingeniously designed to create the impression that you are holidaying on a luxury yacht. Be sure to ask for a quick peep inside. The view from up high as you savour the beauty of the garden and the magnificent beach is breathtaking. Plans are in place to instal a jacuzzi on the top deck! Many  reviews mention Acajou's close proximity to nearby shops, the affordable and easily accessible buses and the short stroll along the beach to other hotels and guesthouses.Acajou has its own Gym and a Boutique Shop which sells souvenirs and some items of beach wear and essentials which you may have forgotten in your haste to pack for Paradise! A heartfelt thank you to Ms Doway and  her Acajou Team for another wonderful holiday experience. We said farewell with heavy hearts and would dearly love to see you all again.
