Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A breathtaking place. But the so-called position rent.
The mold in the shower, the only structure present, the bar, closes at 20 with little and nothing to buy to eat, except a salad and 1 sandwich left. Low quality salad. (I wonder why in check-in they say at what time the requested meal is scheduled, if they do not warn you that there is not).
If it is true that there are dedicated spaces, beyond the gate at my arrival at least 100 people, boats anchored with loud music and shouts.
If you want water, a beer, or whatever, you have to go get it from the bar, and take it to the trap. And when I went and asked for bottled water, explaining that I was a guest in the trap, I was asked “but are you sure you are a guest?” As if you were lying.

In short, I would understand the high cost, if it offered calm and peace, and if the services were present.

I confirm that the liogo and also the rooms are delicious. But to settle for that, prices would have to be half.

It would only take a few precautions, a stocked fridge, an email reminding you that there is nothing to eat on site. Un servizio spesa!!!! And a little education, finding out if I was really resident in the structure without doubting my word was easy, just “charge the room, tell me the number / ninth?”

Too bad... and to think I wanted to go back.

Impermeable, the sea is wonderful, great for those who do not like sand on the beach. It has limited space and cost (2024) of 15€ to enter which includes visit to the museum. Great place to relax. It has paid parking on slated ground 10 minutes walk.

It should be clarified that to enter the Scopello estate, whether you stay for one hour or 6 hours, the price to enter is 15.00 including deckchairs and a small visit. So it is better to take advantage of the entrance. Because the place is worth it.

The views are breathtaking. The people who work there treat you like family. Yusef and Claudio were so friendly and hospitable. They managed to take care of a lot of people, and did so with a smile and great energy. Good vibes. We stayed in a top floor seafront room. It was out of a storybook. Massive space, high ceilings and balconies where you could hear the water against the shore. Loved it.

Spectacular view, we queued for about half an hour to enter but it was worth it.
A flaw is that those who arrive late do not find deckchairs available.
Ticket cost 15 euros per person.
It is preferable to go down with closed shoes.
Almost opposite the entrance there is a large car park
Everything else lovely.
If you are in Sicily do not miss to visit it

I don't get the negative reviews about the price to access a nice and clean space. If it was free and dirty then people would be complaining about the place being dirty. If you are not willing to pay the price just stay away but don't ruin the reputation giving bad reviews with your silly complaints!

The location and La Tonnara are unique, fantastic. The rooms are very poorly furnished - basically you pay for the location and the priviledge of being in a historic building. Unfortunately, the very small beach of La Tonnara is invaded, during the day, by an army of day visitors (who pay a few euros for access), who practically prevent the paying guest from accessing the beach. In a show of terrible taste, one of the historic rooms opening on the beach is full of vending machhines!! We have found day visitors looking into our rooms, using our bathrooms, sitting at our tables.... One gets the impression that the owners are interested in making quick money without any effort, when they should pay much more attention to the privacy of the paying guests and the services they provide at a price that is not that small. Overall, management is poor, and it is often the case that the owners' family and friends use the spaces theoretically available to the paying guests. No effort is made to illustrate the history of La Tonnara - there is not even a small Museum, although this is advertised in the owners site. It is a real pity: La Tonnara would deserve a much better management!!

It is really a heartstoppingly beautiful place. and being so close to the sea makes it more so. The history also. However. for the money there are a few major niggles. the beach is invaded every day and these fellow tourists frequently invaded our apparently private space to take photos, nosey around etc. The Taverna B in my opinion has the best views devoid of les bronzes. but....no sun. north facing....ridden with insects and invading millipedes. We expected an outdoor kitchen but it was more like a student kitchen without a roof. To not be too negative. you don't get something for nothing so if you can handle the invasion and have a flexible budget it is a really beautiful place and the history and (most of the) ethos of the place is unique and well worth a visit.

like nearly all the other reviews, we have to agree that the location is super, but the rest is quite poorly going to a bad rating for the rooms. We were allowed to take the dog with, they didn't mind when we asked when booking the place. But having a dog there is a different story, the lady owner Danielle, was not pleased at all and told us the dog was not allowed in the water and had to stay at a place where she could be disturbed by it. That meant he was not allowed somewhere near to where we would be. it made us get out of the tonnarra, and only come back when we were going straight to our apartment. The apartment was dirty and badly finished. The 'kitchen' had no tools to be used, not even a kettle. The setting was stunning too bad the owners don't care about the rest just the cash!

We were two couples travelling in low season (rainy November). Despite our arrival during a torrential downpour, we found shelter, warmth, and an unforgettable experience at Tonnara di Scopello. The caretaker Mohammed was very welcoming and was able to communicate well enough in French, which made up for our very limited Italian vocabulary. We stayed in two sea-front rooms: Ancore and Sotto la Torre. They were just lovely. The reservation office in Palermo provided excellent advice and service in English. The property is run as an historic site by a cooperative. The main drawback of not being run as a hotel is that reservations can't be confirmed without making a deposit by wire transfer, which is costly. We took our chances that there would still be vacancy the day we arrived, and we were in luck. Businesses in Scopello were closed for the low season (as, it seems, is the case in most Sicilian towns), so our accommodation included morning espresso drinks and croissants. The opportunities for photography are endless. For cat lovers, there are plenty of kittens on the property too. I would happily go back there for an extended retreat. The tonnara would be an inspiring place to write, paint, or simply contemplate the sea.

I found a website for the hotel. Sadly, they require a minimum 7 night stay during the summer so there was no need to figure out how to make a reservation since I only wanted to stay no more than 4 nights.

"Aim to stay in the main buildings at the seafront, rather than in a side building near the parking lot (e.g. Vicario). The rooms we were in - Ancore and Sotto la Torre - were both full of character, but one had much more space and a more functional kitchen than the other."
