It is possible to get a train to travel to Rome. There is a train station in the town that is a short cab ride away. You can also hire a private car and travel in comfort. We had rented a car to explore the region, and that was a wonderful way to go although it can be a bit overwhelming to drive in Italy!

The way up to the hotel is quite steep, but no more than 50 metres. We were winded by the time we reached the hotel each time. They do have something similar to a golf cart that they may be able to use to transport you up and down the hill. They did that for our luggage.
