The Hotel is the first to be built along the Lagoon at Bacalar. The rooms are getting tired and are in need of refurbishing to a more modern standard. However the situation is beautiful with direct access to the lagoon for swimming.

We have stayed in this old hotel many times over the years. It used to be incredibly charming but was run down and had a staff that winced when they saw Americans coming. It's changed. The front desk, bartender and waiters are delightful. The rooms are clean enough and have electrical outlets. The showers are hot and the food isn't...

I didn't expect to come to Bacalar, but I wanted to see the "Cenote Azul"... then... we got on this side road, and we saw this incredibly beautiful lake... I thought it was the ocean, because the turquoise waters looked like those of CanCun... but it turned out to be a very large "cenote", so large it is a lake,...

the hotel is old but is nice, the first night i was sad because they gave me a hidden room in the back, it was so hot and also you didn't have a view of the lagoon, but next day I asked to please give me a better room and they did on second floor 205! it was better, although...

Many of the reviews say "lovely view, horrible hotel." Spot on. It's a lovely location and it's a cool place in a retro-kind of way. But, and this is a big but, the hotel itself hasn't been updated, and it seemed, in some places, cleaned, for many years. While our deck had a lovely view, the wrought iron table and...

We booked last minute a trip to Bacalar and booke dthis hotel because of the view. We knew ahead of time that the hotel was not brand new. If you are ok with a "hostel" type of hotel for a day or two then you will be fine by booknig this hotel only to sleep in. Food: not worth it....

The biggest plus of this hotel is definitely the establishment itself. It is a very neatly decorated place, actually quite big, with direct access to the lake. Once you see it from the lake ( f.e. when you take one of the Kajaks that you can use for 50 Q per hour, or by doing a Boat tour ) you...

The only favorable thing of this place is that it is clean. Everything is old and has no maintenance. We payed for two nights and left the hotel after the first one. It was preferable losing our money than spending another night there. In one word, it is just depressing. We found a much better hotel for less money, it...
