We wanted cheap family accommodation and found it at Wild Spirit. We got value for money but we didn't pay much for the room. It was ensuite, with hot water, a double and a twin. Comfortable enough, but not luxury....it is a backpackers after all. The room was not big but not cramped, but that shouldn't be an issue as...

Are you driving along the Garden Route you just have to stop at Nature's Valley and sleep at leas one night in the "Wild Spirit". It's such a unique and peaceful place, with so many friendly people. You sit on the terrace, watching the moonrise, drink a cold Savanna, eat a delicious meal cooked on the fireplace, talk to so...

We spent three nights at Wild Spirit over New Years, and wished we could have stayed longer. Nature's Valley is such a beautiful area, and Wild Spirit makes full use of their surroundings, with a simple, rustic set-up, a great deck overlooking the forest, and awesome trails for exploring the property. Check out the waterfall, it's amazing!. They seemed to...

Really nice place to stay with a nice chilled vibe in the communal areas. Food was very average with not a great selection. Beers were cheap. Wouldn't recommend camping in the rain at all. Not much to do when the weather is bad. The hikes to God's window and big tree were mildly underwhelming. Tiny 'hike' to a medium sized...

This is the place to be in South Africa - really! The place has such a good atmosphere, and the food is based on home grown vegetables, spices etc. It is a tree growing inside the house – so special, it is also a tree hut! At night it is sometimes live music and some play some cards – generally...

Stayed for two nights and wish it'd been for longer. Had absolutely everything - one morning I even got asked by the guy who was cooking what I'd like to eat that evening! The views over the National Park, the campfires and drumming at night, the tree house, the guided forest walks and local waterfall, mixed with some of the...

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in Dec, 2014, and wished we could have stayed much longer. The fact that the vast majority of folks who work there are volunteers, many of whom had come as guests and couldn't wait to return, tells you what kind of effect Wild Spirit has on a person. We had a...

We stayed in Wildspirit Lodge in October 2014 whilst backpacking across SA and were so glad we did as its probably our favorite place we stayed. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The atmosphere and feel of the place was so relaxed from sitting around the fire with drinks chatting to catching up on wifi things in the wooden...

Wild Spirit is an excellent choice for travelers who prefer to stay in a quiet relaxed and tranquil setting. Local attractions and surroundings are easy to reach by car or by the shuttle service offered. The views are amazing and there are easy walks in the surrounding forests that one can explore. Located right on the western tip of the Tsitsikamma National Park, it is literally in the heart of the Garden Route, between Plettenberg Bay and Storm's River. Close to Nature's Valley beach and lagoon this eco-friendly open-minded backpackers is surrounded by indigenous forests with blissful views over the valleys and mountains - the ultimate place to come and relax. Accommodation ranges from simple and lovely private en-suite family and double rooms, to ready-made Safari tents, bunk free dorms and simple off the grid camp sites for budget travellers looking for a quiet place to rest their souls. Alternative and sustainable energy designs, creative spaces and organic gardens are dotted around this magical 18-hectare farm. Activities on the farm include swimming in the rock pools of a private 80m Waterfall, or taking a short walk through the indigenous forest to visit the majestic Yellowwood tree. Alternatively, you can get your hands dirty in the gardens, learn a new craft from one of the many skilled staff members, or relax in a tree-house with horses grazing nearby. If you manage to tear yourself away from the beauty of the lodge then there are various animal sanctuaries nearby including elephants, big cats, birds and monkeys, as well as local horse-rides and a great farm stall to pick up some lunch. Nearby Nature's Valley is ideal for nature lovers with walks and hikes in all directions, and is one of the most pristine beaches on the Garden Route. The lagoon down there is also spectacular for swimming, kayaking, and bird-watching. Adrenaline and adventure activities such as the world's highest Bungy jump, Africanyon river adventures, and Tsitsikamma treetop canopy tours are nearby. The come home, relax with sun-downers on the deck, and spend an evening under the stars talking to interesting travellers around the fire whilst the team prepare a delicious home-made dinner with fresh produce from the organic gardens.
