Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were bought gift vouchers last Christmas for here and it was a great choice. Lovely food and rooms, cosy pub and the Christmas decorations were beautiful. Everything was spotless. Would definitely return again.

The food was more style over substance, my wife ordered the fillet steak and it was probably one of the smallest she has ever been served considering the cost plus an extra £3 50 for peppercorn sauce which was also very disappointing.

We were in the area for a funeral, on what was a sad time the staff were amazing. They let us in early to get changed and took our stuff up to our room when it was ready so we didnt have to worry about it and then sorted us a table last minute in the evening for food when we got back. Cannot thank them enough for how brilliant they were and the room and food were fantastic, thank you!!! Will definitely stay again!!

Absolutely lovely cottage in Scalby part of The plough but alternative self catering accommodation. A great little base to stay in Yorkshire. Accommodation is superbly equipped, attention to detail is second to none, but still like home

We stayed at no 20 High street which was opposite the plough. The house was very homely & was perfect for a relaxing family break. The house was decorated to a very high standard with lots of little extras that made our stay all the more enjoyable. The bath was lovely & I was able to enjoy a long hot soak with a glass of wine (courtesy of the welcome pack supplied). Then relax with my family in the lounge & watch a film, this really was the perfect break. Scalby is a really lovely little village with lots of amenities & of course the Plough pub & yew tree cafe on the doorstep. We had a lovely time & will be booking again for next year.

These are the friendliest staff I have come across, so smiley, helpful and efficient. It's a great pub with excellent food, lovely room with top notch toiletries, bath and really good shower, amazing TV picture and comfy bed. It was expensive but worth it!

My friends and I stayed in Yew Tree apartment to celebrate a 'Special Birthday'. We had a wonderful time. The apartment had everything you could possible need and was immaculate. Location is ideal and the food in the pub was delicious. We will all be back to stay again together I am sure - we may even bring our families.

We stayed at Sunbeam Cottage for a long weekend with our Boston Terrier. The cottage is ideally situated just round the corner from the Plough. The decor is lovely and the cottage was very clean with a very thoughtful welcome pack including a bottle of wine. We dined at the Plough on the Friday night and the meal was excellent along with the staff and the service. We were very lucky with the weather for October so took advantage of the outdoor space at Sunbeam Cottage to enjoy a relaxing drink or two after some long walks on the beach and coastal paths. I would definitely recommend Sunbeam Cottage for a relaxing self catering stay in comfortable surroundings and the team at the Plough were very efficient and helpful when we had an issue with one of the TV's in the cottage.
