This is my local & im extremely proud to take my friends here, especially when from far away. My friend from London has been here three times with me & coming from the City, this is an amazing compliment when she says what amazing food & atmosphere this place has. Of course it’s the company too 😂 but The Plough is relaxed, great wines & cocktails & the food is gorgeous. Plus the staff are friendly and attentive...so you can’t ask more than that. Fabulous place, a favourite.

Booked directly over phone with Lucy, simple, informative and easy process. The rooms are well designed, decorated and very clean ,can highly recommend, we opted for the autumn offer which was fantastic value , all staff friendly and helpful and food and drinks first class, chilled bottle of Prosecco in room on arrival, can’t thank Lucy and Wil ( the managers) for being so friendly and professional and providing a great service and stay, whole experience from start to finish was a pleasure also try a coffee and cake at the Yew Tree cafe/ bistro over the road if you get chance.

A party of six of us ate here on a Friday evening. Took a long time for our drinks order to be taken and a long time before they arrived. Small menu and a specials board. Two of us ordered mussels to start but were later informed they could not be served as they failed to open. I was quite happy about this as it shows their standards and integrity. We had to order replacement starters which caused a bigger delay. It would have been nice if they had brought out some bread whilst we waited this extra time. Starters were good when they came and I found the hake tapa to be especially good. Mains were 4 steak, chicken and a burger. At 25 pound each I expected more from the 10oz ribeye. My steak was ordered medium rare but was overcooked. Tasty enough but not worth the money. The blue cheese sauce was lacking in flavour. Desserts came, except one which was late, and they were very good. Chocolate brownie, sticky toffee pudding and a special crumble. A request was made for custard which they said they did not do. Found this hard to believe, the kitchen was not even consulted. None of the food was bad, some was very good, the rest ok. Service was slow but friendly and polite. They knocked 30 off the bill in comp for replacement starters and late dessert. This was unexpected but a great gesture.

A lovely five nights, bed and breakfast for my wife and I. We had our evening meal in the hotel restaurant four nights out of the five and it was excellent every time. The staff couldn't be more helpful and welcoming
