This boarding house is truly welcoming and it has a strategic location to plan and to realise hiking activities. The environment is classic and traditional and the service is structured to give a sleep for the night and a good breakfast in the morning.

Sonia is in a fantastic location, in St Magdalena. with view towards the magnificent Odle peaks. The Val di Funes/Villnusser Tal is an absolutely delightful area, away from the more 'touristy' parts. The Pension itself is fairly average, pleasant quite comfortable rooms, and very clean. The breakfast was perfectly acceptable though somewhat uninspiring, being fairly typical continental fare. Pleasant owners.

I wanted to be close to the spectacular, beguiling Dolomites and so chose what for me was a bargain accommodation, looking extremely picturesque online. The reality was simply breathtaking...never have I felt so 'at home' at a B&B and yet so enchanted by the incredibly beautiful alpine surroundings of St. Magdalena. The family who run the magnificent Pension deserve a... More

Tucked away in the picturesque town of St. Magdalena are several hotels; I chose Pension Sonia for our one-night stay prior to entering the Odle-Puez nature park for a big three day (2 nights in rifugios) hike/backpack. My husband and I were delighted with the hotel, our room, the hearty and ample breakfast, the service (beers upon arrival) and recommendations... More

First off I want to state that this pension is perfectly situated to see the dolomites for hiking. It has several other pensions near it that are certainly nearly identical, but what sets it apart is your host Konrad and family. In all my years of travelling I have never experienced such treatment and genuine generosity at a hotel. More... More

The host Konrad and his wife make this place so very special. Rooms are a little rustic, but the value is great. The views are astounding of the Dolomites and trail access is very close. Sadly, I have found that this is Konrad's last season with the Sonia. I hope whoever takes his place can measure up to his wonderful... More

For the first leg of our month-long Italian journey, we stayed at Garni Sonia...a non-smoking 12 room Bed & Breakfast nestled in the Val di Funes and surrounded by the Dolomites. Conrad and his wife are down-to-earth, very friendly, accommodating, multi-lingual and hard working people always available to answer a question and offer assistance. Our cozy room had a large... The view from the hotel was awesome, so it is worth to go there just for the view. However there were many other advantages like: very friendly and helpful pension's owner (it is very difficult to find such personell in other hotels), very good breakfast and beautiful surroundgs with lot of easy or hard hiking routes as well as mountain... Our room had a large balcony with a beautiful view of the Dolomites nearby. The owner of the B&B speaks enough languages, and seems genuinely interested in making sure the guests have a good time in the region. He discussed maps and trails with us, and also served up a most delicious breakfast in the morning. Hope to be back... More

We saw some beautiful photos of the place before we booked and the pictures don't do it justice. Our room was nice and clean with a balcony that looked out to one of UNESCO's world natural heritage sites. The manager was extremely energetic, friendly and helpful. He gave us tips for restaurants and put on an amazing breakfast every morning.... More
