Winston Churchill purportedly said: "I have simple taste; I like the best." Any hotel that is a member of Relais et Chateaux tends to have extremely high standards. Churchill would have approved. Because each one is unique, they can range from stuffy to congenial; overly grand to extremely comfortable. Germigney is an entirely welcoming and charming estate that reflects centuries...

It says something that we keep returning to this hotel. All the staff make us feel most welcome, and even greet us as returning friends. The standard of cleanliness continues to amaze, and small touches like the under floor heating in the bathroom and change of towels in the evening while at dinner all go to make for a most...

This is an old castle with a very large garden including many old and tall trees. Ideal for relaxing. There are two restaurants, one in the castle and the other a short walk away. The first is a gourmet restaurant; we were particularly impressed by one of the desserts, the "millefeuille au grand Marnier". The second is called a bistrot,...

We thoughly enjoyed our two nights at this Ralaise and Chateau hotel. The owners are very helpful and the staff appear to have fun - while also being professional. The bed is comfortalbe and the room is large and luxurious. The bathroom has L'Ocitaine products, and is well laid out. We had breakfast both days and it was wonderful. Lots...

This is why social media and websites like TripAdvisor are worth there weight in gold. I would never have found this place unless through a web search. We love the Chateau de Germigney: modest chateau, tastefully styled and furnished, courteous and welcoming staff, pleasant gardens and a great position in the heart of Vin Jaune and Comté country. We hadn't been here for a while and came back due to the encouragement of the Gault Millau guide which meanwhile elevated the restaurant's rating to 16/20 points. Unfortunately,...

After a first visit a few years back, our wedding and finally our visit last night we have to confirm that the consistent excellence of this hotel & restaurant is really incredible. Concerning our last visit (and same as the previous two): The food is exceptional, really, and this is thanks to the purity of the tastes that M. Basso...

We booked 3 rooms for 2 nights for a family birthday trip. Lovely breakfast, lounges and an enchanting garden. The fall weather was lovely so we were able to enjoy morning walks on the property grounds. The hotel staff was very pleasant. The bedrooms were nice, the bed were very comfortable and the location was extremely quiet. We stayed on...

Whenever you are traveling "North-South" in France, stay to the east of this great country and when around Besançon you do yourself no favor if you don't make a wonderful detour through a great landscape to the small village of Port Lesney. Here, at the entrance of the village you will find not only a unique chateau, in a unique...
