We had the most fantastic experience at Lower Barnes. It was just perfect. Mike & Janie were the perfect hosts, who thought of everything and paid attention to every little detail. Our Bohemian style suite, which was both very comfortable, with all mod cons, separate spacious bathroom with fantastic bath & shower , bright & beautiful, separate fully stocked kitchen with breakfast bar. A lovely freshly made breakfast brought to our room daily. Fresh orange juice, yoghurt, coffee, sour dough bread, all supplied in the kitchen and topped up. Even our own hot tub in our own personal private courtyard. We were married in the wonderful “love shack” which was an amazing experience. We had an excellent wedding meal freshly cooked by Janie. Mike did our wedding photos & took us to a secluded beach with amazing views and landscapes where we returned to, to explore further. We then went on to our private , intimate meal in the “party shack”, with amazing decorations & our fantastic wedding cake. Janie liaised directly with my stepdaughter to lay on a special surprise present , drink and card from our family which was a stunning surprise. We are certainly going to return for our anniversary next year & likely several more.

Myself and my partner (or should I say husband) came here to have an intimate ceremony with only our children and our parents. Janie and Mike made us feel so welcome and our wedding went perfectly, it was exactly how we imagined it. Every part of lower barns is absolutely amazing and so unique. We stayed in nook, our bed was huge and so comfy and having our own hot tub and sauna really made our three night stay that bit more relaxing. Each morning we received a wonderful cooked breakfast with fruit, yoghurt and homemade granola to accompany it (which was amazing). We honestly could not have wished for a more perfect intimate wedding, they took all of the stress out of planning a wedding and it was just beautiful. we will definitely be booking in for a stay every year on our anniversary! Thanks Mike and Janie!

Wow, jus wow! I tried to find something different, unique, a little piece of heaven to celebrate our first mini break without the children and pooch in toe, and smashed it out of the park when booking a three night stay at Lower Barns! Initially drawn in by the rating, glowing reviews and gallery on the website, but trust me the reality is even better. This place is special, so calm and peaceful, in fact that good we extended our stay by a night! The Nook was adorable, Jenie and Mike have turned their old Shetland stable into a private suite with its own hot tub and sauna, which with its creative design simply melts away the stresses of normal life and leaves you feeling uplifted and chilled. However, as we all know the experience isn’t complete without attentive hosts, well Jenie and Mike had that coved too, they simple put you at ease from the outset, and make you feel welcome, to the point you feel like long lost friends who you hope to see again. If you like quirky, peaceful, but expect great service then treat yourself to a stay at Lower Barns.

We recently had our elopement wedding at Lower Barns and what a fantastic time we had. The whole process from initial contact to the actual wedding day itself was stress free and easy . On arrival we were shown to our home for the next three nights in the beautiful Cranny . I've worked in hospitality for 18 years and have never seen such unique and homely accommodation. Everything was catered for from tea and tomato sauce to hairdryer and hairspray. The bed was super comfy and the little added touches like dvds to watch and the breakfast amenities were lovely. Our actual wedding day was so relaxing and I felt we literally glided through the day . Janie had everything under control and you can tell the wedding circuit in this area is right knit and supportive of each other. The grounds for a wedding are just amazing and even if the weather is not in your favour then there are inside locations which are equally as quirky and fun. Overall , a fantastic place for your wedding or just treat yourself to a bit of indulgence.

This place is what you get when you take two wonderful, well travelled people full of positive spirit and kind intent, blend the colours sounds, sights, scents and sensations of great intentions and marry them with the sumptuous vision and authenticity of the most genuine human beings you'll have the honour to meet. Lower Barns is an oasis set away from life's complex and feckless nonsense; a Cornish cornucopia bursting with character and a luxurious island of tranquility. Just read the reviews. Then realise that they still don't do justice to to this place. The do yourself a favour and book for as long as you can. Yes, it's that highly recommended and we've been to some amazing places, the world round.

Steve & I had a 3 night stay at lower barns for our elopement last week. The boutique b&b was a lovely venue to stay and get married. Breakfast every morning was fabulous The location is quiet and peaceful, just what we wanted. We bought our 2 dogs with us also which was lovely to be able to have them with us on our day. Wanted to thank Janey and Mike for your hospitality and being our witnesses on our special day. Thanks to Mike for being our photographer for our day. I think we will be back for our first anniversary ☺️ Julie & Steve With Daisy and Penny 🦮🐕

Unfortunately, we only had a two-night stay at Lower Barns 13/ 14 September with our consummate hosts Mike and Janie. There are not enough superlatives for this place. We stayed in the Lawnside Suite and were thrilled with the quirkiness and attention to detail, it really shows how much love and energy has been put into the Lower Barns to make it a lovely home for Mike and Janie and a beautiful luxury boutique B&B. The location is excellent if a little tricky to find, more down to our Sat Nav than anything else, but Mike guided us in on the telephone and subsequently provided details of how to find our way to Mevagissey and St Austell by far simpler routes. The room was splendid as were the views of the garden from our room. The bed was extremely comfortable, something you need after a long day travelling or sightseeing the local area. Breakfast is excellent with a range of options, and we really enjoyed the communal breakfast table which allowed you to meet with the other guests. The attention to detail is faultless and we were just sad we were not staying for a few more days however a few more days there and we would have found it exceedingly difficult to return to the real world as it is so peaceful and uplifting. The gardens are a beautiful place to relax in the sunshine. Everywhere you go on the property you find something new to see which is very pleasing to the eye, we enjoyed meeting Woody, Mikes Owl and Gill enjoyed being able to stroke and fuss their dog. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

We have just left Lower Barn and had the most amazingly perfect experience! Everything and I mean everything has been so lovingly thought out, the accommodation is idyllic, the food delicious and where we got married was romantic and really really special. If you’re looking for something a little quirky and individual, remote and quiet - I can’t recommend their hospitality any higher! The whole place feels like it was built with love in mind ❤️❤️❤️

We loved our time at Lower Barns. Beautiful location, fabulous decor, really different. Immaculately clean, gorgeous gardens and Mike and Janie are so friendly and welcoming. Our ‘Hideaway’ was perfect, really private, spacious with all the facilities you could wish for. Breakfast was delicious. Even though it’s in a secluded location, places to visit are not too far away. Thank you Janie and Mike for a fabulous holiday, we’ll be returning!!! Love from Kirsty and Andrew xx

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Lower Barns during July as a wedding anniversary treat. Janie and Mike are very welcoming hosts and have created a truly unique and memorable place for a special break. We stayed in one of the apartments across the garden from the main house and were highly impressed with the thought and attention that has gone into everything to help provide a relaxing and special stay. Our apartment was "Cranny" (as opposed to "Nook" - next door) and had a lovely walled courtyard garden with seating and our own hot tub (very indulgent). In the apartment was a great kitchen area with supplies of tea, coffee, fresh cake, bread and cereal. A large fridge contained milk, fruit juice, preserves, butter, yogurt and mixed fruit. There was colourful bedroom, with sofa and tv and a very comfortable bed, adjoined by a spacious bathroom (separate shower and free-standing bath). In the morning, Mike came and took our breakfast order prior to bringing the food back for us to eat in the comfort of our own breakfast bar. (Great cooked breakfast to set you up for the day). All in all we had a fantastic treat of a weekend stay at Lower Barns and would highly recommend a visit - whatever the occasion. Thank you Janie and Mike.
